II Chronicles 28

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:

آخز 20 سال کی عمر میں بادشاہ بنا اور یروشلم میں رہ کر 16 سال حکومت کرتا رہا۔ وہ اپنے باپ داؤد کے نمونے پر نہ چلا بلکہ وہ کچھ کرتا رہا جو رب کو ناپسند تھا۔

For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.

کیونکہ اُس نے اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں کا چال چلن اپنایا۔ بعل کے بُت ڈھلوا کر

Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

اُس نے نہ صرف وادیِ بن ہنوم میں بُتوں کو قربانیاں پیش کیں بلکہ اپنے بیٹوں کو بھی قربانی کے طور پر جلا دیا۔ یوں وہ اُن قوموں کے گھنونے رسم و رواج ادا کرنے لگا جنہیں رب نے اسرائیلیوں کے آگے ملک سے نکال دیا تھا۔

He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

آخز بخور جلا کر اپنی قربانیاں اونچے مقاموں، پہاڑیوں کی چوٹیوں اور ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں چڑھاتا تھا۔

Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

اِسی لئے رب اُس کے خدا نے اُسے شام کے بادشاہ کے حوالے کر دیا۔ شام کی فوج نے اُسے شکست دی اور یہوداہ کے بہت سے لوگوں کو قیدی بنا کر دمشق لے گئی۔ آخز کو اسرائیل کے بادشاہ فِقَح بن رملیاہ کے حوالے بھی کر دیا گیا جس نے اُسے شدید نقصان پہنچایا۔

For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

ایک ہی دن میں یہوداہ کے 1,20,000 تجربہ کار فوجی شہید ہوئے۔ یہ سب کچھ اِس لئے ہوا کہ قوم نے رب اپنے باپ دادا کے خدا کو ترک کر دیا تھا۔

And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

اُس وقت افرائیم کے قبیلے کے پہلوان زِکری نے آخز کے بیٹے معسیاہ، محل کے انچارج عزری قام اور بادشاہ کے بعد سب سے اعلیٰ افسر اِلقانہ کو مار ڈالا۔

And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

اسرائیلیوں نے یہوداہ کی 2,00,000 عورتیں اور بچے چھین لئے اور کثرت کا مال لُوٹ کر سامریہ لے گئے۔

But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.

سامریہ میں رب کا ایک نبی بنام عودید رہتا تھا۔ جب اسرائیلی فوجی میدانِ جنگ سے واپس آئے تو عودید اُن سے ملنے کے لئے نکلا۔ اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”دیکھیں، رب آپ کے باپ دادا کا خدا یہوداہ سے ناراض تھا، اِس لئے اُس نے اُنہیں آپ کے حوالے کر دیا۔ لیکن آپ لوگ طیش میں آ کر اُن پر یوں ٹوٹ پڑے کہ اُن کا قتلِ عام آسمان تک پہنچ گیا ہے۔

And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?

لیکن یہ کافی نہیں تھا۔ اب آپ یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے بچے ہوؤں کو اپنے غلام بنانا چاہتے ہیں۔ کیا آپ سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہم اُن سے اچھے ہیں؟ نہیں، آپ سے بھی رب اپنے خدا کے خلاف گناہ سرزد ہوئے ہیں۔

Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

چنانچہ میری بات سنیں! اِن قیدیوں کو واپس کریں جو آپ نے اپنے بھائیوں سے چھین لئے ہیں۔ کیونکہ رب کا سخت غضب آپ پر نازل ہونے والا ہے۔“

Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

افرائیم کے قبیلے کے کچھ سرپرستوں نے بھی فوجیوں کا سامنا کیا۔ اُن کے نام عزریاہ بن یوحنان، برکیاہ بن مسِلّموت، یحِزقیاہ بن سلّوم اور عماسا بن خدلی تھے۔

And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”اِن قیدیوں کو یہاں مت لے آئیں، ورنہ ہم رب کے سامنے قصوروار ٹھہریں گے۔ کیا آپ چاہتے ہیں کہ ہم اپنے گناہوں میں اضافہ کریں؟ ہمارا قصور پہلے ہی بہت بڑا ہے۔ ہاں، رب اسرائیل پر سخت غصے ہے۔“

So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

تب فوجیوں نے اپنے قیدیوں کو آزاد کر کے اُنہیں لُوٹے ہوئے مال کے ساتھ بزرگوں اور پوری جماعت کے حوالے کر دیا۔

And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

مذکورہ چار آدمیوں نے سامنے آ کر قیدیوں کو اپنے پاس محفوظ رکھا۔ لُوٹے ہوئے مال میں سے کپڑے نکال کر اُنہوں نے اُنہیں اُن میں تقسیم کیا جو برہنہ تھے۔ اِس کے بعد اُنہوں نے تمام قیدیوں کو کپڑے اور جوتے دے دیئے، اُنہیں کھانا کھلایا، پانی پلایا اور اُن کے زخموں کی مرہم پٹی کی۔ جتنے تھکاوٹ کی وجہ سے چل نہ سکتے تھے اُنہیں اُنہوں نے گدھوں پر بٹھایا، پھر چلتے چلتے سب کو کھجور کے شہر یریحو تک پہنچایا جہاں اُن کے اپنے لوگ تھے۔ پھر وہ سامریہ لوٹ آئے۔

At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

اُس وقت آخز بادشاہ نے اسور کے بادشاہ سے التماس کی، ”ہماری مدد کرنے آئیں۔“

For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

کیونکہ ادومی یہوداہ میں گھس کر کچھ لوگوں کو گرفتار کر کے اپنے ساتھ لے گئے تھے۔

The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth–shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

ساتھ ساتھ فلستی مغربی یہوداہ کے نشیبی پہاڑی علاقے اور جنوبی علاقے میں گھس آئے تھے اور ذیل کے شہروں پر قبضہ کر کے اُن میں رہنے لگے تھے: بیت شمس، ایالون، جدیروت، نیز سوکہ، تِمنت اور جِمزو گرد و نواح کی آبادیوں سمیت۔

For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.

اِس طرح رب نے یہوداہ کو آخز کی وجہ سے زیر کر دیا، کیونکہ بادشاہ نے یہوداہ میں بےلگام بےراہ رَوی پھیلنے دی اور رب سے اپنی بےوفائی کا صاف اظہار کیا تھا۔

And Tilgath–pilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

اسور کے بادشاہ تِگلت پِل ایسر اپنی فوج لے کر ملک میں آیا، لیکن آخز کی مدد کرنے کے بجائے اُس نے اُسے تنگ کیا۔

For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.

آخز نے رب کے گھر، شاہی محل اور اپنے اعلیٰ افسروں کے خزانوں کو لُوٹ کر سارا مال اسور کے بادشاہ کو بھیج دیا، لیکن بےفائدہ۔ اِس سے اُسے صحیح مدد نہ ملی۔

And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

گو وہ اُس وقت بڑی مصیبت میں تھا توبھی رب سے اَور دُور ہو گیا۔

For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

وہ شام کے دیوتاؤں کو قربانیاں پیش کرنے لگا، کیونکہ اُس کا خیال تھا کہ اِن ہی نے مجھے شکست دی ہے۔ اُس نے سوچا، ”شام کے دیوتا اپنے بادشاہوں کی مدد کرتے ہیں! اب سے مَیں اُنہیں قربانیاں پیش کروں گا تاکہ وہ میری بھی مدد کریں۔“ لیکن یہ دیوتا بادشاہ آخز اور پوری قوم کے لئے تباہی کا باعث بن گئے۔

And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

آخز نے حکم دیا کہ اللہ کے گھر کا سارا سامان نکال کر ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا جائے۔ پھر اُس نے رب کے گھر کے دروازوں پر تالا لگا دیا۔ اُس کی جگہ اُس نے یروشلم کے کونے کونے میں قربان گاہیں کھڑی کر دیں۔

And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.

ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے دیگر معبودوں کو قربانیاں پیش کرنے کے لئے یہوداہ کے ہر شہر کی اونچی جگہوں پر مندر تعمیر کئے۔ ایسی حرکتوں سے وہ رب اپنے باپ دادا کے خدا کو طیش دلاتا رہا۔

Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

باقی جو کچھ اُس کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا اور جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ شروع سے لے کر آخر تک ’شاہانِ یہوداہ و اسرائیل‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

جب آخز مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم میں دفن کیا گیا، لیکن شاہی قبرستان میں نہیں۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا حِزقیاہ تخت نشین ہوا۔
