I Corinthians 13

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

اگر مَیں انسانوں اور فرشتوں کی زبانیں بولوں، لیکن محبت نہ رکھوں تو پھر مَیں بس گونجتا ہوا گھڑیال یا ٹھنٹھناتی ہوئی جھانجھ ہی ہوں۔

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

اگر میری نبوّت کی نعمت ہو اور مجھے تمام بھیدوں اور ہر علم سے واقفیت ہو، ساتھ ہی میرا ایسا ایمان ہو کہ پہاڑوں کو کھسکا سکوں، لیکن میرا دل محبت سے خالی ہو تو مَیں کچھ بھی نہیں۔

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

اگر مَیں اپنا سارا مال غریبوں میں تقسیم کر دوں بلکہ اپنا بدن جلائے جانے کے لئے دے دوں، لیکن میرا دل محبت سے خالی ہو تو مجھے کچھ فائدہ نہیں۔

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

محبت صبر سے کام لیتی ہے، محبت مہربان ہے۔ نہ یہ حسد کرتی ہے نہ ڈینگیں مارتی ہے۔ یہ پھولتی بھی نہیں۔

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

محبت بدتمیزی نہیں کرتی نہ اپنے ہی فائدے کی تلاش میں رہتی ہے۔ یہ جلدی سے غصے میں نہیں آ جاتی اور دوسروں کی غلطیوں کا ریکارڈ نہیں رکھتی۔

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

یہ ناانصافی دیکھ کر خوش نہیں ہوتی بلکہ سچائی کے غالب آنے پر ہی خوشی مناتی ہے۔

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

یہ ہمیشہ دوسروں کی کمزوریاں برداشت کرتی ہے، ہمیشہ اعتماد کرتی ہے، ہمیشہ اُمید رکھتی ہے، ہمیشہ ثابت قدم رہتی ہے۔

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

محبت کبھی ختم نہیں ہوتی۔ اِس کے مقابلے میں نبوّتیں ختم ہو جائیں گی، غیرزبانیں جاتی رہیں گی، علم مٹ جائے گا۔

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

کیونکہ اِس وقت ہمارا علم نامکمل ہے اور ہماری نبوّت سب کچھ ظاہر نہیں کرتی۔

But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

لیکن جب وہ کچھ آئے گا جو کامل ہے تو یہ ادھوری چیزیں جاتی رہیں گی۔

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

جب مَیں بچہ تھا تو بچے کی طرح بولتا، بچے کی سی سوچ رکھتا اور بچے کی سی سمجھ سے کام لیتا تھا۔ لیکن اب مَیں بالغ ہوں، اِس لئے مَیں نے بچے کا سا انداز چھوڑ دیا ہے۔

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

اِس وقت ہمیں آئینے میں دُھندلا سا دکھائی دیتا ہے، لیکن اُس وقت ہم رُوبرُو دیکھیں گے۔ اب مَیں جزوی طور پر جانتا ہوں، لیکن اُس وقت کامل طور سے جان لوں گا، ایسے ہی جیسے اللہ نے مجھے پہلے سے جان لیا ہے۔

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

غرض ایمان، اُمید اور محبت تینوں قائم رہتے ہیں، لیکن اِن میں افضل محبت ہے۔
