Romans 4

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

Cóż tedy, rzeczemy, znalazł Abraham, ojciec nasz według ciała?

For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

Bo jeźli Abraham z uczynków jest usprawiedliwiony, ma się czem chlubić, ale nie u Boga.

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Albowiem cóż Pismo mówi? Uwierzył Abraham Bogu i przyczytano mu to za sprawiedliwość.

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

A robiącemu zapłata nie bywa przyczytana podług łaski, ale podług długu;

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Nie robiącemu zaś, lecz wierzącemu w tego, który usprawiedliwia niepobożnego, przyczytana bywa wiara jego za sprawiedliwość.

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Jako i Dawid powiada, że błogosławieństwo człowieka jest, któremu Bóg przyczyta sprawiedliwość bez uczynków, mówiąc:

Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Błogosławieni, których odpuszczone są nieprawości, a których zakryte są grzechy;

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Błogosławiony mąż, któremu Pan grzechu nie przyczyta.

Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

To tedy błogosławieństwo tylko na obrzezkę przychodzi, czy też na nieobrzezkę? Gdyż mówimy, iż wiara Abrahamowi jest przyczytana za sprawiedliwość.

How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

Jakoż mu tedy jest przyczytano? Gdy był w obrzezce, czyli w nieobrzezce? Nie w obrzezce, ale w nieobrzezce.

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

I przyjął znak obrzezki za pieczęć sprawiedliwości onej wiary, która była w nieobrzezce, na to, aby był ojcem wszystkich wierzących w nieobrzezce, aby i onym przyczytana była sprawiedliwość;

And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

I aby był ojcem obrzezki, nie tylko tych, którzy są z obrzezki, ale też i tych, którzy chodzą stopami wiary ojca naszego Abrahama, która była w nieobrzezce.

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Albowiem nie przez zakon się stała obietnica Abrahamowi albo nasieniu jego, aby był dziedzicem świata, ale przez sprawiedliwość wiary.

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

Bo jeźli ci, którzy są z zakonu, dziedzicami są, tedyć zniszczała wiara i wniwecz się obróciła obietnica.

Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

Gdyż zakon gniew sprawuje; albowiem gdzie zakonu nie masz, tam ani przestępstwa.

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

Przetoż z wiary jest dziedzictwo, aby było z łaski, i żeby była warowna obietnica wszystkiemu nasieniu, nie tylko temu, które jest z zakonu, ale i temu, które jest z wiary Abrahamowej, który jest ojcem nas wszystkich;

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

(Jako napisano: Ojcem wielu narodów wystawiłem cię) przed Bogiem, któremu uwierzył, który ożywia umarłe i który przywołuje te rzeczy, których nie masz, i jakoby były.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Który (Abraham) przeciwko nadziei w nadzieję uwierzył, że się stanie ojcem wielu narodów według tego, co mu powiedziano: Tak będzie nasienie twoje.

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

A nie będąc słabym w wierze, nie patrzył na ciało swoje już obumarłe, mając około stu lat, ani na obumarły żywot Sary.

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

O obietnicy tedy Bożej nie wątpił z niedowiarstwa; ale się umocnił wiarą i dał chwałę Bogu,

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Będąc też tego pewien, że cokolwiek on obiecał, mocen jest i uczynić.

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Przetoż przyczytano mu to za sprawiedliwość.

Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

A nie napisano tego dla niego samego, iż mu to przyczytano,

But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Ale i dla nas, którym ma być przyczytano, którzy wierzymy w tego, który wzbudził Jezusa, Pana naszego, z martwych;

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Który wydany jest dla grzechów naszych, a wstał z martwych dla usprawiedliwienia naszego.
