Zephaniah 3

Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

Wehe der Widerspenstigen und Befleckten, der bedrückenden Stadt!

She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.

Sie hat auf keine Stimme gehört, keine Zucht angenommen; auf Jehova hat sie nicht vertraut, ihrem Gott sich nicht genaht.

Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

Ihre Fürsten in ihrer Mitte sind brüllende Löwen; ihre Richter sind Abendwölfe, die nichts für den Morgen übriglassen.

Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

Ihre Propheten sind Prahler, treulose Männer; ihre Priester entweihen das Heiligtum, tun dem Gesetze Gewalt an.

The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

Jehova ist gerecht in ihrer Mitte, er tut kein Unrecht; Morgen für Morgen stellt er sein Recht ans Licht, ohne zu fehlen. Aber der Ungerechte kennt keine Scham.

I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.

Ich habe Nationen ausgerottet, ihre Zinnen sind verödet; ich habe ihre Straßen verwüstet, daß niemand darüber zieht; ihre Städte sind verheert, daß niemand da ist, kein Bewohner mehr.

I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

Ich sprach: Möchtest du mich nur fürchten, möchtest du Zucht annehmen! und ihre Wohnung würde nicht ausgerottet werden, alles, was ich über sie verhängt habe. Allein sie haben sich früh aufgemacht, haben alle ihre Handlungen verderbt.

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

Darum harret auf mich, spricht Jehova, auf den Tag, da ich mich aufmache zur Beute! Denn mein Rechtsspruch ist, die Nationen zu versammeln, die Königreiche zusammenzubringen, um meinen Grimm über sie auszugießen, die ganze Glut meines Zornes; denn durch das Feuer meines Eifers wird die ganze Erde verzehrt werden.

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

Denn alsdann werde ich die Lippen der Völker in reine Lippen umwandeln, damit sie alle den Namen Jehovas anrufen und ihm einmütig dienen.

From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

Von jenseit der Ströme Äthiopiens werden sie meine Flehenden, meine zerstreute Schar mir als Opfergabe darbringen

In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

An jenem Tage wirst du dich nicht mehr all deiner Handlungen schämen müssen, womit du wider mich übertreten hast; denn alsdann werde ich deine stolz Frohlockenden aus deiner Mitte wegnehmen, und du wirst fortan nicht mehr hoffärtig sein auf meinem heiligen Berge.

I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.

Und ich werde in deiner Mitte ein elendes und armes Volk übriglassen, und sie werden auf den Namen Jehovas vertrauen.

The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

Der Überrest Israels wird kein Unrecht tun und keine Lüge reden, und in ihrem Munde wird keine Zunge des Truges gefunden werden; denn sie werden weiden und lagern, und niemand wird sie aufschrecken. -

Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

Jubele, Tochter Zion; jauchze Israel! freue dich und frohlocke von ganzem Herzen, Tochter Jerusalem!

The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.

Jehova hat deine Gerichte weggenommen, deinen Feind weggefegt; der König Israels, Jehova, ist in deiner Mitte, du wirst kein Unglück mehr sehen.

In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

An jenem Tage wird zu Jerusalem gesagt werden: Fürchte dich nicht! Zion, laß deine Hände nicht erschlaffen!

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Jehova, dein Gott, ist in deiner Mitte, ein rettender Held; er freut sich über dich mit Wonne, er schweigt in seiner Liebe, frohlockt über dich mit Jubel.

I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

Die wegen der Festversammlung Trauernden werde ich sammeln; sie waren aus dir, Schmach lastete auf ihnen.

Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.

Siehe, ich werde zu jener Zeit handeln mit allen deinen Bedrückern, und die Hinkenden retten und die Vertriebenen sammeln; und ich werde sie zum Lobe und zum Namen machen in allen Ländern ihrer Schmach.

At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.

In jener Zeit werde ich euch herbeibringen und zu der Zeit euch sammeln; denn ich werde euch zum Namen und zum Lobe machen unter allen Völkern der Erde, wenn ich eure Gefangenschaft vor euren Augen wenden werde, spricht Jehova.
