I Kings 12

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

Und Rehabeam ging nach Sichem; denn ganz Israel war nach Sichem gekommen, um ihn zum König zu machen.

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)

Und es geschah, als Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, es hörte (er war aber noch in Ägypten, wohin er vor dem König Salomo geflohen war, und Jerobeam wohnte in Ägypten;

That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

und sie sandten hin und riefen ihn); da kamen Jerobeam und die ganze Versammlung Israels, und sie redeten zu Rehabeam und sprachen:

Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

Dein Vater hat unser Joch hart gemacht; du aber, erleichtere nun den harten Dienst deines Vaters und sein schweres Joch, das er auf uns gelegt hat, so wollen wir dir dienen.

And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin noch drei Tage, dann kommet wieder zu mir. Und das Volk ging hin.

And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?

Und der König Rehabeam beriet sich mit den Alten, die vor seinem Vater Salomo gestanden hatten, als er noch am Leben war, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, diesem Volke Antwort zu geben?

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

Und sie redeten zu ihm und sprachen: Wenn du heute dieses Volkes Knecht wirst und ihnen dienst und sie erhörst und gütige Worte zu ihnen redest, so werden sie deine Knechte sein alle Tage.

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

Aber er verließ den Rat der Alten, den sie ihm geraten hatten; und er beriet sich mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, die vor ihm standen.

And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, daß wir diesem Volke zur Antwort geben, welches zu mir geredet und gesagt hat: Erleichtere das Joch, das dein Vater auf uns gelegt hat?

And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

Und die Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, redeten zu ihm und sprachen: So sollst du zu diesem Volke sprechen, das zu dir geredet und gesagt hat: Dein Vater hat unser Joch schwer gemacht, du aber erleichtere es uns; so sollst du zu ihnen reden: Mein kleiner Finger ist dicker als die Lenden meines Vaters!

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Nun denn, mein Vater hat euch ein schweres Joch aufgeladen, ich aber will zu eurem Joche hinzutun; mein Vater hat euch mit Geißeln gezüchtigt, ich aber will euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.

Und Jerobeam und alles Volk kam am dritten Tage zu Rehabeam, so wie der König geredet und gesagt hatte: Kommet wieder zu mir am dritten Tage.

And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;

Und der König antwortete dem Volke hart und verließ den Rat der Alten, den sie ihm gegeben hatten;

And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

und er redete zu ihnen nach dem Rate der Jungen und sprach: Mein Vater hat euer Joch schwer gemacht, ich aber will zu eurem Joche hinzutun; mein Vater hat euch mit Geißeln gezüchtigt, ich aber will euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen.

Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

So hörte der König nicht auf das Volk; denn es war eine Wendung von seiten Jehovas, auf daß er sein Wort aufrecht hielte, welches Jehova durch Achija, den Siloniter, zu Jerobeam, dem Sohne Nebats, geredet hatte.

So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

Und als ganz Israel sah, daß der König nicht auf sie hörte, da gab das Volk dem König Antwort und sprach: Was haben wir für Teil an David? und wir haben kein Erbteil am Sohne Isais! Zu deinen Zelten, Israel! Nun sieh nach deinem Hause, David! -Und Israel ging nach seinen Zelten.

But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

Die Kinder Israel aber, die in den Städten Judas wohnten, über sie wurde Rehabeam König.

Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Und der König Rehabeam sandte Adoram, der über die Fron war; aber ganz Israel steinigte ihn, und er starb. Da eilte der König Rehabeam, den Wagen zu besteigen, um nach Jerusalem zu fliehen.

So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

So fiel Israel vom Hause Davids ab bis auf diesen Tag.

And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

Und es geschah, als ganz Israel hörte, daß Jerobeam zurückgekehrt wäre, da sandten sie hin und riefen ihn zu der Gemeinde, und machten ihn zum König über ganz Israel. Niemand folgte dem Hause Davids, außer dem Stamme Juda allein.

And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

Und Rehabeam kam nach Jerusalem; und er versammelte das ganze Haus Juda und den Stamm Benjamin, 180000 auserlesene Krieger, um mit dem Hause Israel zu streiten, damit er das Königreich an Rehabeam, den Sohn Salomos, zurückbrächte.

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

Da geschah das Wort Gottes zu Schemaja, dem Manne Gottes, also:

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

Sage zu Rehabeam, dem Sohne Salomos, dem König von Juda, und zu dem ganzen Hause Juda und Benjamin und zu dem übrigen Volke, und sprich:

Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

So spricht Jehova: Ihr sollt nicht hinaufziehen und nicht mit euren Brüdern, den Kindern Israel, streiten; kehret um, ein jeder nach seinem Hause, denn von mir aus ist diese Sache geschehen. Und sie hörten auf das Wort Jehovas und zogen wieder zurück nach dem Worte Jehovas.

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

Und Jerobeam baute Sichem im Gebirge Ephraim und wohnte darin; und er zog von dannen aus und baute Pnuel.

And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:

Und Jerobeam sprach in seinem Herzen: Nun wird das Königreich an das Haus David zurückkommen.

If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

Wenn dieses Volk hinaufziehen wird, um im Hause Jehovas zu Jerusalem Schlachtopfer zu opfern, so wird sich das Herz dieses Volkes zu ihrem Herrn zurückwenden, zu Rehabeam, dem König von Juda; und sie werden mich töten und sich zu Rehabeam, dem König von Juda, zurückwenden.

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Da beriet sich der König und machte zwei goldene Kälber. Und er sprach zu dem Volke: Es ist zu viel für euch, nach Jerusalem hinaufzuziehen; siehe da, Israel, deine Götter, die dich aus dem Lande Ägypten heraufgeführt haben.

And he set the one in Beth–el, and the other put he in Dan.

Und er stellte das eine in Bethel auf, und das andere tat er nach Dan.

And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

Und diese Sache wurde zur Sünde, und das Volk ging vor das eine hin bis nach Dan.

And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

Auch baute er Höhenhäuser, und machte Priester aus sämtlichem Volke, die nicht von den Kindern Levi waren.

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth–el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth–el the priests of the high places which he had made.

Und Jerobeam machte ein Fest im achten Monat, am fünfzehnten Tage des Monats, wie das Fest, das in Juda stattfand, und er opferte auf dem Altar. Ebenso tat er zu Bethel, indem er den Kälbern opferte, die er gemacht hatte; und er bestellte in Bethel die Priester der Höhen, die er gemacht hatte.

So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth–el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.

Und er opferte auf dem Altar, den er zu Bethel gemacht hatte, am fünfzehnten Tage im achten Monat, in dem Monat, den er aus seinem Herzen erdacht hatte; und er machte den Kindern Israel ein Fest, und opferte auf dem Altar und räucherte.
