I Corinthians 6

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

Miksi joku teistä, jolla on toisen kanssa jotakin asiaa, rohkenee riidellä vääräin ja ei pyhäin edestä?

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Ettekö te tiedä, että pyhät pitää maailmaa tuomitseman? Ja jos maailma pitää teidän kauttanne tuomittaman, ettekö siis te kelpaa pienempiä asioita tuomitsemaan?

Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Ettekö te tiedä, että meidän pitää enkeleitäkin tuomitseman? kuinka siis ei ajallisia asioita?

If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

Kuin siis teillä on jotakuta asiaa ajallisesta hyvyydestä, niin te otatte ne, jotka seurakunnassa ovat katsotut ylön, ja asetatte tuomariksi.

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

Teille minä sanon näitä häpiäksi: eikö niin yhtään viisasta ole teidän seassanne, joka taitais tuomita veljiensä välillä?

But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

Vaan veli riitelee veljensä kanssa, ja sittenkin uskottoman edessä.

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

Niin on siis kaiketi vika teidän seassanne, että te toinen toisenne kanssa käytte oikeuden eteen. Miksi ette paremmin vääryyttä kärsi? miksi ette ennen suo teitänne vahingoittaa?

Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Vaan te itse vääryyden ja vahingon teette, ja semminkin teidän veljillenne.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

Ettekö te tiedä, ettei väärät pidä Jumalan valtakuntaa perimän? Älkäät eksykö; ei huorintekiäin, eikä epäjumalten palvelijain, eikä salavuoteisten, eikä pehmiäin, eikä miesten kanssa makaajain,

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Eikä varasten, eikä ahnetten, eikä juomarien, eikä pilkkaajain eikä raateliain pidä Jumalan valtakuntaa perimän.

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Ja senkaltaiset te muutamat olitte; mutta te olette pestyt, te olette pyhitetyt, te olette vanhurskaaksi tulleet Herran Jesuksen nimen kautta ja meidän Jumalamme hengen kautta.

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Kaikissa on minulla valta, vaan ei kaikki ole hyväksi: kaikissa on minulla valta, mutta en minä kenenkään alamainen ole.

Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

Ruoka on vatsalle säätty ja vatsa rualle; mutta Jumala on tämän ja sen hukuttava. Ei ruumis ole säätty huoruuteen, vaan Herralle, ja Herra ruumiille.

And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

Mutta Jumala on Herran herättänyt, niin hän on myös meitäkin voimallansa herättävä.

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

Ettekö te tiedä, että teidän ruumiinne ovat Kristuksen jäsenet? Pitäiskö siis minun Kristuksen jäsenet ottaman ja porton jäseniksi tekemän? Pois se!

What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

Taikka ettekö te tiedä, että se, joka porttoon ryhtyy, hän on yksi ruumis sen kanssa? Sillä he tulevat, sanoo hän, kaksi yhdeksi lihaksi.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Mutta joka Herraan ryhtyy, se on yksi henki hänen kanssansa.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Välttäkäät huoruutta. Kaikki synnit, joita ihminen tekee, ovat ulkona ruumiista; vaan joka huorin tekee, tekee syntiä omassa ruumiissansa.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Vai ettekö te tiedä, että teidän ruumiinne on Pyhän Hengen templi, joka teissä on, jonka te Jumalalta saitte, ja ettepä te ole teidän omanne?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Sillä te olette kalliisti ostetut; kunnioittakaat siis Jumalaa teidän ruumiissanne ja teidän hengessänne, jotka Jumalan ovat.
