John 14

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

«دلهای شما مضطرب نشود. به خدا توکّل نمایید، به من نیز ایمان داشته باشید.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

در خانهٔ پدر من منزلهای بسیاری هست. اگر چنین نبود، به شما می‌گفتم. من می‌روم تا مكانی برای شما آماده سازم.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

پس از اینكه رفتم و مكانی برای شما آماده ساختم، دوباره می‌آیم و شما را پیش خود می‌برم تا جایی‌که من هستم شما نیز باشید.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

شما می‌دانید به كجا می‌روم و راه آن را نیز می‌دانید.»

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

توما گفت: «ای خداوند، ما نمی‌دانیم تو به كجا می‌روی، پس چگونه می‌توانیم راه را بدانیم.»

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

عیسی به او گفت: «من راه و راستی و حیات هستم، هیچ‌کس جز به وسیلهٔ من نزد پدر نمی‌آید.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

اگر مرا می‌شناختید پدر مرا نیز می‌شناختید، از این پس شما او را می‌شناسید و او را دیده‌اید.»

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

فیلیپُس به او گفت: «ای خداوند، پدر را به ما نشان بده و این برای ما كافی است.»

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

عیسی به او گفت: «ای فیلیپُس، در این مدّت طولانی من با شما بوده‌ام و تو هنوز مرا نشناخته‌ای؟ هرکه مرا دید پدر را دیده است. پس چگونه می‌گویی پدر را به ما نشان بده؟

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

آیا باور نمی‌کنی كه من در پدر هستم و پدر در من است؟ سخنانی كه به شما می‌گویم از خودم نیست، آن پدری كه در من ساكن است همهٔ این كارها را انجام می‌دهد.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

به من ایمان داشته باشید كه من در پدر هستم و پدر در من است. در غیر این صورت به‌خاطر کارهایی كه از من دیده‌اید به من ایمان داشته باشید.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

یقین بدانید هرکه به من ایمان بیاورد آنچه را من می‌كنم خواهد كرد و حتّی كارهای بزرگتری هم انجام خواهد داد، زیرا من نزد پدر می‌روم

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

و هرچه به نام من بخواهید آن را انجام خواهم داد تا پدر در پسر جلال یابد.

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

اگر چیزی به نام من بخواهید آن را انجام خواهم داد.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

«اگر مرا دوست دارید، دستورهای مرا اطاعت خواهید كرد

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

و من از پدر درخواست خواهم كرد و او پشتیبان دیگری به شما خواهد داد كه همیشه با شما بماند.

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

یعنی همان روح راستی كه جهان نمی‌تواند بپذیرد زیرا او را نمی‌بیند و نمی‌شناسد ولی شما او را می‌شناسید، چون او پیش شما می‌ماند و در خود شما خواهد بود.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

«شما را تنها نمی‌گذارم، پیش شما برمی‌گردم.

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

پس از اندک زمانی، جهان دیگر مرا نخواهد دید امّا شما مرا خواهید دید و چون من زنده‌ام شما هم خواهید زیست.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

در آن روز خواهید دانست كه من در پدر هستم و شما در من و من در شما.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

«هرکه احكام مرا قبول كند و مطابق آنها عمل نماید او کسی است كه مرا دوست دارد و هرکه مرا دوست دارد پدر من او را دوست خواهد داشت و من نیز او را دوست داشته خود را به او ظاهر خواهم ساخت.»

Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

یهودا (نه یهودای اسخریوطی) از او پرسید: «ای خداوند، چرا می‌خواهی خود را به ما ظاهر سازی امّا نه به جهان؟»

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

عیسی در جواب او گفت: «هرکه مرا دوست دارد مطابق آنچه می‌گویم عمل خواهد نمود و پدر من او را دوست خواهد داشت و ما پیش او آمده و با او خواهیم ماند.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

کسی‌که مرا دوست ندارد مطابق تعالیم من عمل نمی‌كند. آنچه شما می‌شنوید از خودم نیست بلكه از پدری كه مرا فرستاده است.

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

«این چیزها را وقتی هنوز با شما هستم می‌گویم،

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

امّا پشتیبان شما یعنی روح‌القدس كه پدر به نام من خواهد فرستاد همه‌چیز را به شما تعلیم خواهد داد و آنچه را به شما گفته‌ام به‌یاد شما خواهد آورد.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

«آرامش برای شما بجا می‌گذارم، من آرامش خود را به شما می‌دهم. جهان نمی‌تواند آن آرامش را به طوری که من به شما می‌دهم بدهد. دلهای شما مضطرب نشود و ترسان نباشید.

Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

شنیدید كه به شما گفتم من می‌روم ولی نزد شما برمی‌گردم. اگر مرا دوست می‌داشتید از شنیدن اینكه من پیش پدر می‌روم، شاد می‌شدید زیرا پدر از من بزرگتر است.

And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

اكنون قبل از اینكه این كار عملی شود به شما گفتم تا وقتی اتّفاق می‌افتد ایمان بیاورید.

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

بعد از این با شما زیاد سخن نمی‌گویم زیرا حكمران این جهان می‌آید، او بر من هیچ قدرتی ندارد،

But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

امّا برای اینكه جهان باید بداند كه من پدر را دوست دارم، دستورات او را به طور كامل انجام می‌دهم. برخیزید از اینجا برویم.
