Exodus 9

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

خداوند به موسی فرمود: «نزد فرعون برو و بگو خداوند خدای عبرانیان چنین می‌فرماید: 'قوم مرا آزاد کن تا برود و مرا پرستش کند.

For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still,

زیرا اگر باز هم آنها را آزاد نکنی،

Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.

دست خداوند بلایی در میان حیوانات تو خواهد فرستاد که اسبها، الاغها، شتران، گاوها، گوسفندان و بُزهای تو را مبتلا خواهد ساخت.

And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.

در میان حیوانات بنی‌اسرائیل و حیوانات مصری‌ها فرق می‌گذارم به طوری که هیچ حیوانی که متعلّق به بنی‌اسرائیل باشد نخواهد مرد.

And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.

من که خداوند هستم، فردا را برای انجام این کار تعیین می‌کنم.'»

And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.

فردای آن روز خداوند که فرموده بود عمل کرد و تمام حیوانات مصری‌ها مردند. امّا حتّی یکی از حیوانات بنی‌اسرائیل هم نمرد.

And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

فرعون پرسید «چه شده است؟» به او گفتند حتّی یکی از حیوانات بنی‌اسرائیل هم نمرده است. ولی فرعون همچنان سنگدل بود و از آزاد کردن قوم خودداری کرد.

And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

خداوند به موسی و هارون فرمود: «مشتهای خود را از خاکستر کوره پُر کنید و موسی آن را در مقابل فرعون به هوا بپاشد.

And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

آنها مانند غبار بر سرتاسر سرزمین مصر پاشیده خواهد شد و همه‌جا دملهای دردناک در مردم و حیوانات به وجود خواهد آمد.»

And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.

پس آنها مقداری از خاکستر کوره برداشتند و موسی آن را در مقابل فرعون به هوا پاشید. و آن خاکسترها دملهای دردناکی در مردم و حیوانات به وجود آورد.

And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

جادوگران نتوانستند در مقابل موسی بایستند. چون آنان هم مانند سایر مصری‌ها بدنشان پُر از دملها شده بود.

And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses.

ولی خداوند همان‌طور که فرموده بود، فرعون را سنگدل کرد و او به سخنان موسی و هارون گوش نداد.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

خداوند به موسی فرمود: «فردا صبح زود به دیدن فرعون برو و به او بگو خداوند خدای عبرانیان چنین می‌فرماید: 'قوم مرا آزاد کن تا بروند و مرا پرستش کنند.

For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.

زیرا این دفعه نه فقط درباریان و مردمانت، بلکه خود تو را هم به بلا مبتلا خواهم کرد تا بدانی که در سرتاسر جهان کسی مانند من نیست.

For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.

زیرا اگر دست خود را به طرف تو و مردمانت دراز کرده بودم و شما را به بلایا مبتلا ساخته بودم، اکنون همهٔ شما نابود شده بودید.

And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

لیکن به‌خاطر این‌ تو را تا به حال زنده نگاه داشته‌ام که قدرت خود را نشان دهم و نام من در سرتاسر جهان مشهور گردد.

As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?

امّا تو همچنان متكبّری و قوم مرا آزاد نمی‌کنی.

Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.

فردا در چنین وقتی چنان تگرگی بر مصر خواهم فرستاد که مصر هرگز در تاریخ خود به‌یاد نداشته است.

Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.

اکنون بفرست تا گلّه‌هایت و هر چیزی که در فضای باز داری، بیاورند و در زیر سایه‌بان قرار دهند. زیرا تگرگ بر انسان و حیوان و هر چیزی که در فضای باز باشد خواهد بارید و همه را نابود خواهد ساخت.'»

He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:

بعضی از بزرگان دربار فرعون که از آنچه خداوند فرموده بود ترسیده بودند غلامان و گلّه‌های خود را به جای سرپوشیده آوردند.

And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.

امّا کسانی‌که به هشدار خداوند توجّه نداشتند، غلامان و گلّه‌های خود را در صحرا واگذاردند.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.

پس خداوند به موسی فرمود: «دست خود را به سوی آسمان بلند کن تا در سرتاسر مصر، بر انسانها و حیوانات و گیاهان صحرا تگرگ ببارد.»

And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

موسی عصای خود را به طرف آسمان بلند کرد و به امر خداوند در سرزمین مصر رعد و برق شدیدی واقع شد و تگرگ شروع به باریدن کرد.

So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

تگرگ شدیدی می‌بارید و دایماً صاعقه به زمین می‌زد. تگرگ آن‌قدر شدید بود که مصریان مانند آن را در تاریخ خود به‌یاد نداشتند.

And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.

تگرگ هرچه را که در بیابان بود از آدم و حیوان و گیاهان صحرایی همه را نابود کرد و درختان را شکست.

Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

سرزمین جوشن، -جایی که قوم اسرائیل در آن زندگی می‌کردند- تنها جایی بود که تگرگ نبارید.

And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

فرعون، موسی و هارون را به حضور طلبید و به ایشان گفت: «این دفعه گناه کرده‌ام، زیرا خداوند عادل است و من و مردمان من گناهکاریم.

Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

نزد خداوند دعا کنید. همین که رعد و برق و تگرگ متوقّف شود، شما را آزاد خواهم کرد. لازم نیست بیشتر از این در اینجا بمانید.»

And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD'S.

موسی در جواب فرعون گفت: «همین که از شهر بیرون برویم دستهای خود را بلند کرده دعا خواهم کرد تا رعد و برق و تگرگ متوقّف شود تا تو بدانی که زمین مال خداوند است.

But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.

ولی می‌دانم که تو و درباریانت هنوز از خداوند نمی‌ترسید.»

And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.

محصول کتان و جو آسیب دیده بود چون جو، خوشه کرده بود و کتان دانه آورده بود.

But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.

امّا محصول گندم به‌خاطر اینکه دیررس است آسیب ندید.

And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

موسی از نزد فرعون بیرون رفت و از شهر خارج شد، سپس دستهای خود را به سوی خداوند بلند کرد و رعد و برق و تگرگ متوقّف شد و باران دیگر نبارید.

And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

امّا چون فرعون دید که دیگر همه‌چیز آرام شده، بار دیگر گناه کرد و او و درباریانش دل خود را سخت کردند.

And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.

فرعون بار دیگر سختی نشان داد و اجازه نداد که بنی‌اسرائیل از مصر بیرون روند.
