Nehemiah 6

Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

И когато Санавалат и Товия, и арабинът Гисам, и останалите ни врагове чуха, че съм построил стената и че не е останал вече пролом в нея — но до онова време още не бях поставил вратите на портите —

That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

Санавалат и Гисам изпратиха до мен да кажат: Ела, нека се срещнем в едно от селата на низината Оно. Но те възнамеряваха да ми сторят зло.

And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

И аз изпратих до тях пратеници да кажат: Върша голямо дело и не мога да сляза. Защо да се спира делото, като го оставя и сляза при вас?

Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

И четири пъти пращаха до мен по този начин, но аз им отговарях все така.

Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;

Тогава за пети път Санавалат прати слугата си до мен по този начин с отворено писмо в ръката му,

Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.

в което беше писано: Между народите се носи слух, пък и Гисам казва, че ти и юдеите мислите да се надигнете и затова строиш стената. И според този слух ти искаш да им станеш цар.

And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

И си поставил и пророци да разгласяват за теб в Ерусалим, като казват: Цар има в Юда! И сега, тези слухове ще се съобщят на царя. И така, ела сега да се съветваме заедно.

Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

Тогава изпратих до него да кажат: Няма такова нещо, каквото ти казваш, а ти го измисляш от себе си.

For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

Защото те всички искаха да ни уплашат, като казваха: Ръцете им ще се пуснат от делото и то няма да се свърши. И сега, Боже, укрепи Ти ръцете ми!

Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.

Тогава аз отидох в къщата на Семая, сина на Делая, син на Метавеил, който беше заключен; и той ми каза: Нека се съберем в Божия дом, вътре в храма и нека затворим вратите на храма, защото те ще дойдат да те убият, да, през нощта ще дойдат да те убият!

And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

Но аз казах: Човек като мен бива ли да бяга? И кой човек като мен би влязъл в храма, за да избави живота си? Няма да вляза!

And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

И познах, че, ето, не го беше пратил Бог, а той от себе си произнесе това пророчество против мен и Товия и Санавалат го бяха подкупили.

Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

Затова беше подкупен, за да се уплаша и да направя така, и да съгреша, и това да им послужи да злословят, за да ме корят.

My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.

Спомни си, Боже мой, за Товия и Санавалат според тези техни дела, а също и за пророчицата Ноадия и за другите пророци, които искаха да ме плашат!

So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

И стената беше завършена на двадесет и петия ден от месец Елул, за петдесет и два дни.

And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

И когато всичките ни врагове чуха това, всичките народи около нас се уплашиха и се смалиха много в очите си, и познаха, че това дело беше станало от нашия Бог.

Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.

А в онези дни юдовите благородни изпращаха много писма до Товия, и писма от Товия идваха до тях.

For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

Защото в Юда имаше мнозина, които му се бяха заклели, понеже беше зет на Сехания, сина на Арах, и синът му Йоанан беше взел за жена дъщерята на Месулам, сина на Варахия.

Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

И пред мен говореха за неговите благодеяния, а на него донасяха моите думи. И Товия пращаше писма, за да ме уплаши.
