Nehemiah 5

And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.

И се надигна голям вик от народа и от жените им против братята им, юдеите.

For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.

И имаше такива, които казваха: Ние, синовете ни и дъщерите ни сме мнозина, затова нека ни се даде жито да ядем и да живеем!

Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

А имаше и такива, които казваха: Ние заложихме нивите си и лозята си, и къщите си, за да ни се даде жито заради глада.

There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.

Имаше и такива, които казваха: Срещу нивите и лозята си ние взехме пари назаем за царския данък.

Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

Но сега, нашите тела са като телата на братята ни, нашите деца са като техните деца. И ето, ние ще трябва да даваме синовете си и дъщерите си на работа като роби, и някои от дъщерите ни са вече заробени, а ние сме безсилни да ги откупим, защото нивите и лозята ни са на други.

And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.

И когато чух вика им и тези думи, много се разгневих.

Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.

И размислих в себе си и се скарах с благородните и първенците, и им казах: Вие вземате лихва всеки от брат си! И свиках против тях голямо събрание и им казах:

And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

Ние според силата си изкупихме братята си, юдеите, които бяха продадени на езичниците. А вие сами ли ще продадете братята си? Или те да се продадат на нас? А те мълчаха и не намериха отговор.

Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

И аз казах: Не е добро това, което правите. Не трябва ли да ходите в страха на нашия Бог, за да не сме за присмех на езичниците, нашите врагове?

I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

Но и аз, братята ми и слугите ми, сме им заели пари и жито, но моля ви, нека оставим тази лихва!

Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.

И така, върнете им още днес нивите им, лозята им, маслините им и къщите им, а също и една стотна част от парите и от житото, от виното и от маслиненото масло, които сте им заели.

Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

Тогава те казаха: Ще ги върнем и нищо няма да искаме от тях. Както казваш, така ще направим. Тогава повиках свещениците и ги заклех, че ще направят според това обещание.

Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

Отърсих още и пазвата си и казах: Така да отърси Бог от къщата му и от труда му всекиго, който не изпълни това обещание! Да, така да бъде отърсен и изпразнен! И цялото събрание каза: Амин! И прославиха ГОСПОДА. И народът постъпи според това обещание.

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

И от времето, когато царят ме назначи за областен управител над тях в юдовата земя, от двадесетата година до тридесет и втората година на цар Артаксеркс, дванадесет години, аз с братята си не съм вземал заплатата на областен управител.

But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

А предишните областни управители, които бяха преди мен, бяха налагали товар на народа и бяха вземали от тях хляб и вино, освен четиридесет сикъла сребро. И слугите им бяха господарували над народа. Но аз не правех така, понеже се боях от Бога.

Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.

И също помагах в работата на тази стена; и нива не купихме; и всичките ми слуги бяха събрани там за делото.

Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.

И юдеите и първенците, сто и петдесет мъже освен онези, които идваха при нас от народите около нас, бяха на трапезата ми.

Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.

А това, което се готвеше всеки ден, беше едно говедо, шест избрани овце и птици се готвеха за мен, а веднъж на десет дни имахме изобилно всякакво вино. И при всичко това аз не поисках заплатата на областен управител, защото робството тежеше силно върху този народ.

Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.

Помни ме, Боже мой, за добро заради всичко, което съм сторил за този народ!
