Ezra 4

И враговете на Юда и Вениамин чуха, че завърналите се от плена строяли храм на ГОСПОДА, Израилевия Бог,

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;

и дойдоха при Зоровавел и при главите на бащините домове и им казаха: Нека да градим с вас, защото и ние търсим вашия Бог като вас и на Него жертваме от времето на асирийския цар Есарадон, който ни доведе тук.

Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar–haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.

Но Зоровавел и Иисус, и останалите глави на израилевите бащини домове им казаха: Не е за вас да строите с нас дома на нашия Бог. Ние сами ще строим на ГОСПОДА, Израилевия Бог, както ни заповяда персийският цар Кир.

But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

Тогава народът на земята отслабваше ръцете на юдовия народ и им пречеше в строежа,

Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

и наемаше съветници против тях, за да осуетят намерението им, през всичките дни на персийския цар Кир, чак до царуването на персийския цар Дарий.

And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

И когато царуваше Асуир, в началото на царуването му, написаха обвинение против жителите на Юда и Ерусалим.

And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

В дните на Артаксеркс Вислам, Митридат, Тавеил и другите им съслужители писаха до персийския цар Артаксеркс. Писмото беше написано на арамейски. Това е арамейският превод:

And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

Управителят Реум и писарят Самса писаха писмо против Ерусалим до цар Артаксеркс, както следва:

Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:

Управителят Реум, писарят Самса и другите им съслужители, динците, афарсахците, тарфалците, афарсяните, архевците, вавилонците, сусанците, еламците,

Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,

и останалите народи, които великият и славният Асенафар доведе и засели в градовете на Самария и в другите градове отвъд реката; и така:

And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.

Ето препис от писмото, което пратиха на цар Артаксеркс: Слугите ти, мъжете, които са отвъд реката; и така:

This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.

Нека е известно на царя, че юдеите, които се изкачиха от теб, дойдоха при нас в Ерусалим и строят бунтовния и злия град, издигат стените и поправят основите.

Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.

Нека сега е известно на царя, че ако се построи този град и се издигнат стените, няма вече да плащат данък, мито, или пътен данък и това ще навреди на дохода на царете.

Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.

А понеже ние служим на двореца и е неприлично за нас да гледаме вредата, която ще се нанесе на царя, затова изпращаме да известим на царя,

Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

за да се потърси в книгата на летописите на бащите ти. И ще намериш в книгата на летописите и ще узнаеш, че този град е бунтовен град, който е навреждал на царете и областите, и че още от старо време в него са се вдигали въстания. Затова този град е бил разрушен.

That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.

Известяваме на царя, че ако този град се построи отново и стените му се издигнат, поради това няма да имаш никакво притежание отсам реката.

We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.

И царят изпрати отговор на управителя Реум, на писаря Самса и на другите им съслужители, които живееха в Самария и в другите градове отвъд реката: Мир. И така:

Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.

Писмото, което ни изпратихте, се прочете ясно пред мен.

The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.

И издадох заповед и потърсиха и намериха, че този град още от старо време се е надигал против царете и че в него са ставали бунтове и въстания.

And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.

И е имало силни царе над Ерусалим, които са владеели над всичко отвъд реката, и са им се плащали данък, мито и пътен данък.

There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.

И така, заповядайте да се спрат онези мъже, за да не се строи отново този град, докато не бъде издадена заповед от мен.

Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.

И внимавайте да не бъдете небрежни в това! Защо да расте злото за вреда на царете?

Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

А когато преписът от писмото на цар Артаксеркс се прочете пред Реум и писаря Самса и съслужителите им, те побързаха да отидат в Ерусалим при юдеите и ги спряха със сила и власт.

Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

Тогава престана работата по Божия дом в Ерусалим и остана спряна до втората година от царуването на персийския цар Дарий.

Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
