II Samuel 17

И Ахитофел каза на Авесалом: Моля те, нека да избера дванадесет хиляди мъже и да стана и да преследвам Давид тази нощ.

Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

Ще връхлетя върху него, докато е уморен и ръцете му са отслабнали, и ще го ужася; и целият народ, който е с него, ще побегне и ще убия само царя.

And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

Така ще върна целия народ обратно при теб. Връщането на всички зависи от мъжа, когото търсиш — тогава целият народ ще бъде в мир.

And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.

И това слово се видя добро на Авесалом и на всичките израилеви старейшини.

And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

Тогава Авесалом каза: Повикай сега и архиеца Хусай и да чуем какво ще каже и той.

Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

И когато Хусай дойде при Авесалом, Авесалом му говори и каза: Такова слово говори Ахитофел. Да постъпим ли според словото му? Ако не, говори ти.

And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

Тогава Хусай каза на Авесалом: Не е добър съветът, който Ахитофел даде този път.

And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

И Хусай каза: Ти познаваш баща си и мъжете му, че са силни мъже и са огорчени духом като мечка на полето, лишена от малките си. И баща ти е военен мъж, няма да пренощува при народа.

For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Сигурно сега се е скрил в някой ров или на някое друго място. И когато в началото някои от тях паднат, всеки, който чуе, ще каже: Народът, който следва Авесалом, е претърпял поражение!

Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

И тогава дори храбрият, чието сърце е като лъвско сърце, съвсем ще се обезсърчи, защото целият Израил знае, че баща ти е силен и че онези, които са с него, са храбреци.

And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

Затова аз съветвам да се събере при теб целият Израил, от Дан до Вирсавее, многоброен като морския пясък, и ти лично да отидеш в боя.

Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beer–sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

Така ще връхлетим върху него в някое място, където и да се намира, и ще го нападнем, както росата пада на земята. И от него, и от всичките мъже, които са с него, няма да остане нито един.

So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

А ако се оттегли в някой град, тогава целият Израил ще донесе в онзи град въжета, и ще го изтеглим в реката, докато там не остане и едно камъче.

Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

Тогава Авесалом и всичките израилеви мъже казаха: Съветът на архиеца Хусай е по-добър от съвета на Ахитофел! — защото ГОСПОД беше наредил така, за да осуети добрия съвет на Ахитофел, за да докара ГОСПОД гибел на Авесалом.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

Тогава Хусай каза на свещениците Садок и Авиатар: Така и така съветва Ахитофел Авесалом и израилевите старейшини, а така и така съветвах аз.

Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.

Затова сега, изпратете бързо да съобщят на Давид и кажете: Не оставай тази нощ при подходите на пустинята, а непременно премини Йордан, за да не бъдат погълнати царят и целият народ, който е с него!

Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.

А Йонатан и Ахимаас стояха при Ен-Рогил, и една слугиня отиде и им съобщи, и те отидоха да съобщят на цар Давид, защото не биваше да ги виждат да влизат в града.

Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by En–rogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.

Но едно момче ги видя и каза на Авесалом. И двамата тръгнаха бързо и дойдоха в къщата на един човек във Ваурим, който имаше кладенец в двора си, и те се спуснаха там.

Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.

И жената взе и разпростря една покривка върху отвора на кладенеца, и насипа върху нея жито, така че нищо не си личеше.

And the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.

И слугите на Авесалом дойдоха при жената в къщата и казаха: Къде са Ахимаас и Йонатан? А жената им каза: Преминаха водния поток. И като ги потърсиха и не можаха да ги намерят, се върнаха в Ерусалим.

And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

И след като си тръгнаха, те излязоха от кладенеца и отидоха, и съобщиха на цар Давид, и казаха на Давид: Станете и преминете бързо водата, защото Ахитофел е съветвал така против вас.

And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.

Тогава Давид и целият народ, който беше с него, станаха и преминаха Йордан; докато се зазори, не остана нито един, който не беше преминал Йордан.

Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.

А когато Ахитофел видя, че съветът му не се изпълни, оседла магарето си и стана, и отиде у дома си, в своя град, и нареди домашните си работи, и се обеси. Така умря и беше погребан в бащиния си гроб.

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

И Давид дойде в Маханаим. А Авесалом премина Йордан, той и всичките израилеви мъже с него.

Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

И Авесалом постави Амаса за военачалник вместо Йоав. А Амаса беше син на един човек на име Итра, израилтянин който беше влязъл при Авигея, дъщерята на Наас, сестра на Саруя, майката на Йоав.

And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother.

И Израил и Авесалом се разположиха на стан в галаадската земя.

So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.

А когато Давид дойде в Маханаим, дойдоха Совей, синът на Наас, от Рава на синовете на Амон, Махир, синът на Амиил, от Ло-Давар, и галаадецът Верзелай от Рогелим,

And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo–debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,

и донесоха постелки и легени, и грънчарски съдове, и жито, и ечемик, и брашно, и печено жито, и боб, леща и други печива,

Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentiles, and parched pulse,

и мед, и извара, и дребен добитък и краве сирене за Давид и за народа, който беше с него, за да ядат; защото си казаха: Народът е гладен и изтощен, и жаден в пустинята.

And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
