Judges 18

اُن دنوں میں اسرائیل کا بادشاہ نہیں تھا۔ اور اب تک دان کے قبیلے کو اپنا کوئی قبائلی علاقہ نہیں ملا تھا، اِس لئے اُس کے لوگ کہیں آباد ہونے کی تلاش میں رہے۔

In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.

اُنہوں نے اپنے خاندانوں میں سے صُرعہ اور اِستال کے پانچ تجربہ کار فوجیوں کو چن کر اُنہیں ملک کی تفتیش کرنے کے لئے بھیج دیا۔ یہ مرد افرائیم کے پہاڑی علاقے میں سے گزر کر میکاہ کے گھر کے پاس پہنچ گئے۔ جب وہ وہاں رات کے لئے ٹھہرے ہوئے تھے

And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

تو اُنہوں نے دیکھا کہ جوان لاوی بیت لحم کی بولی بولتا ہے۔ اُس کے پاس جا کر اُنہوں نے پوچھا، ”کون آپ کو یہاں لایا ہے؟ آپ یہاں کیا کرتے ہیں؟ اور آپ کا اِس گھر میں رہنے کا کیا مقصد ہے؟“

When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

لاوی نے اُنہیں اپنی کہانی سنائی، ”میکاہ نے مجھے نوکری دے کر اپنا امام بنا لیا ہے۔“

And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest.

پھر اُنہوں نے اُس سے گزارش کی، ”اللہ سے دریافت کریں کہ کیا ہمارے سفر کا مقصد پورا ہو جائے گا یا نہیں؟“

And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

لاوی نے اُنہیں تسلی دی، ”سلامتی سے آگے بڑھیں۔ آپ کے سفر کا مقصد رب کو قبول ہے، اور وہ آپ کے ساتھ ہے۔“

And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD is your way wherein ye go.

تب یہ پانچ آدمی آگے نکلے اور سفر کرتے کرتے لَیس پہنچ گئے۔ اُنہوں نے دیکھا کہ وہاں کے لوگ صیدانیوں کی طرح پُرسکون اور بےفکر زندگی گزار رہے ہیں۔ کوئی نہیں تھا جو اُنہیں دباتا یا اُن پر ظلم کرتا۔ یہ بھی معلوم ہوا کہ اگر اُن پر حملہ کیا جائے تو اُن کا اتحادی شہر صیدا اُن سے اِتنی دُور ہے کہ اُن کی مدد نہیں کر سکے گا، اور قریب کوئی اتحادی نہیں ہے جو اُن کا ساتھ دے۔

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

وہ پانچ جاسوس صُرعہ اور اِستال واپس چلے گئے۔ جب وہاں پہنچے تو دوسروں نے پوچھا، ”سفر کیسا رہا؟“

And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye?

جاسوسوں نے جواب میں کہا، ”آئیں، ہم جنگ کے لئے نکلیں! ہمیں ایک بہترین علاقہ مل گیا ہے۔ آپ کیوں جھجک رہے ہیں؟ جلدی کریں، ہم نکلیں اور اُس ملک پر قبضہ کر لیں!

And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

وہاں کے لوگ بےفکر ہیں اور حملے کی توقع ہی نہیں کرتے۔ اور زمین وسیع اور زرخیز ہے، اُس میں کسی بھی چیز کی کمی نہیں ہے۔ اللہ آپ کو وہ ملک دینے کا ارادہ رکھتا ہے۔“

When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.

دان کے قبیلے کے 600 مسلح آدمی صُرعہ اور اِستال سے روانہ ہوئے۔

And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.

راستے میں اُنہوں نے اپنی لشکرگاہ یہوداہ کے شہر قِریَت یعریم کے قریب لگائی۔ اِس لئے یہ جگہ آج تک محنے دان یعنی دان کی خیمہ گاہ کہلاتی ہے۔

And they went up, and pitched in Kirjath–jearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahaneh–dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjath–jearim.

وہاں سے وہ افرائیم کے پہاڑی علاقے میں داخل ہوئے اور چلتے چلتے میکاہ کے گھر پہنچ گئے۔

And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.

جن پانچ مردوں نے لَیس کی تفتیش کی تھی اُنہوں نے اپنے ساتھیوں سے کہا، ”کیا آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ اِن گھروں میں ایک افود، ایک تراشا اور ڈھالا ہوا بُت اور دیگر کئی بُت ہیں؟ اب سوچ لیں کہ کیا کِیا جائے۔“

Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.

پانچوں نے میکاہ کے گھر میں داخل ہو کر جوان لاوی کو سلام کیا

And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.

جبکہ باقی 600 مسلح مرد گیٹ پر کھڑے رہے۔

And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.

جب لاوی باہر کھڑے مردوں کے پاس گیا تو اِن پانچوں نے گھس کر تراشا اور ڈھالا ہوا بُت، افود اور باقی بُت چھین لئے۔

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.

یہ دیکھ کر لاوی چیخنے لگا، ”کیا کر رہے ہو!“

And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”چپ! کوئی بات نہ کرو بلکہ ہمارے ساتھ جا کر ہمارے باپ اور امام بنو۔ ہمارے ساتھ جاؤ گے تو پورے قبیلے کے امام بنو گے۔ کیا یہ ایک ہی خاندان کی خدمت کرنے سے کہیں بہتر نہیں ہو گا؟“

And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?

یہ سن کر امام خوش ہوا۔ وہ افود، تراشا ہوا بُت اور باقی بُتوں کو لے کر مسافروں میں شریک ہو گیا۔

And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

پھر دان کے مرد روانہ ہوئے۔ اُن کے بال بچے، مویشی اور قیمتی مال و متاع اُن کے آگے آگے تھا۔

So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.

جب میکاہ کو بات کا پتا چلا تو وہ اپنے پڑوسیوں کو جمع کر کے اُن کے پیچھے دوڑا۔ اِتنے میں دان کے لوگ گھر سے دُور نکل چکے تھے۔

And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.

جب وہ سامنے نظر آئے تو میکاہ اور اُس کے ساتھیوں نے چیختے چلّاتے اُنہیں رُکنے کو کہا۔ دان کے مردوں نے پیچھے دیکھ کر میکاہ سے کہا، ”کیا بات ہے؟ اپنے اِن لوگوں کو بُلا کر کیوں لے آئے ہو؟“

And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?

میکاہ نے جواب دیا، ”تم لوگوں نے میرے بُتوں کو چھین لیا گو مَیں نے اُنہیں خود بنوایا ہے۔ میرے امام کو بھی ساتھ لے گئے ہو۔ میرے پاس کچھ نہیں رہا تو اب تم پوچھتے ہو کہ کیا بات ہے؟“

And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?

دان کے افراد بولے، ”خاموش! خبردار، ہمارے کچھ لوگ تیز مزاج ہیں۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ غصے میں آ کر تم کو تمہارے خاندان سمیت مار ڈالیں۔“

And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.

یہ کہہ کر اُنہوں نے اپنا سفر جاری رکھا۔ میکاہ نے جان لیا کہ مَیں اپنے تھوڑے آدمیوں کے ساتھ اُن کا مقابلہ نہیں کر سکوں گا، اِس لئے وہ مُڑ کر اپنے گھر واپس چلا گیا۔

And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.

اُس کے بُت دان کے قبضے میں رہے، اور امام بھی اُن میں ٹک گیا۔ پھر وہ لَیس کے علاقے میں داخل ہوئے جس کے باشندے پُرسکون اور بےفکر زندگی گزار رہے تھے۔ دان کے فوجی اُن پر ٹوٹ پڑے اور سب کو تلوار سے قتل کر کے شہر کو بھسم کر دیا۔

And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.

کسی نے بھی اُن کی مدد نہ کی، کیونکہ صیدا بہت دُور تھا، اور قریب کوئی اتحادی نہیں تھا جو اُن کا ساتھ دیتا۔ یہ شہر بیت رحوب کی وادی میں تھا۔ دان کے افراد شہر کو از سرِ نو تعمیر کر کے اُس میں آباد ہوئے۔

And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Beth–rehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.

اور اُنہوں نے اُس کا نام اپنے قبیلے کے بانی کے نام پر دان رکھا (دان اسرائیل کا بیٹا تھا)۔

And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.

وہاں اُنہوں نے تراشا ہوا بُت رکھ کر پوجا کے انتظام پر یونتن مقرر کیا جو موسیٰ کے بیٹے جَیرسوم کی اولاد میں سے تھا۔ جب یونتن فوت ہوا تو اُس کی اولاد قوم کی جلاوطنی تک دان کے قبیلے میں یہی خدمت کرتی رہی۔

And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.

میکاہ کا بنوایا ہوا بُت تب تک دان میں رہا جب تک اللہ کا گھر سَیلا میں تھا۔

And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
