Judges 12

عمونیوں پر فتح کے بعد افرائیم کے قبیلے کے آدمی جمع ہوئے اور دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے اِفتاح کے پاس آئے جو صفون میں تھا۔ اُنہوں نے شکایت کی، ”آپ کیوں ہمیں بُلائے بغیر عمونیوں سے لڑنے گئے؟ اب ہم آپ کو آپ کے گھر سمیت جلا دیں گے!“

And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

اِفتاح نے اعتراض کیا، ”جب میری اور میری قوم کا عمونیوں کے ساتھ سخت جھگڑا چھڑ گیا تو مَیں نے آپ کو بُلایا، لیکن آپ نے مجھے اُن کے ہاتھ سے نہ بچایا۔

And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

جب مَیں نے دیکھا کہ آپ مدد نہیں کریں گے تو اپنی جان خطرے میں ڈال کر آپ کے بغیر ہی عمونیوں سے لڑنے گیا۔ اور رب نے مجھے اُن پر فتح بخشی۔ اب مجھے بتائیں کہ آپ کیوں میرے پاس آ کر مجھ پر حملہ کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟“

And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

افرائیمیوں نے جواب دیا، ”تم جو جِلعاد میں رہتے ہو بس افرائیم اور منسّی کے قبیلوں سے نکلے ہوئے بھگوڑے ہو۔“ تب اِفتاح نے جِلعاد کے مردوں کو جمع کیا اور افرائیمیوں سے لڑ کر اُنہیں شکست دی۔

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

پھر جِلعادیوں نے دریائے یردن کے کم گہرے مقاموں پر قبضہ کر لیا۔ جب کوئی گزرنا چاہتا تو وہ پوچھتے، ”کیا آپ افرائیمی ہیں؟“ اگر وہ انکار کرتا

And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

تو جِلعاد کے مرد کہتے، ”تو پھر لفظ ’شبولیت‘ بولیں۔“ اگر وہ افرائیمی ہوتا تو اِس کے بجائے ”سبولیت“ کہتا۔ پھر جِلعادی اُسے پکڑ کر وہیں مار ڈالتے۔ اُس وقت کُل 42,000 افرائیمی ہلاک ہوئے۔

Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

اِفتاح نے چھ سال اسرائیل کی راہنمائی کی۔ جب فوت ہوا تو اُسے جِلعاد کے کسی شہر میں دفنایا گیا۔

And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

اِفتاح کے بعد اِبضان اسرائیل کا قاضی بنا۔ وہ بیت لحم میں آباد تھا،

And after him Ibzan of Beth–lehem judged Israel.

اور اُس کے 30 بیٹے اور 30 بیٹیاں تھیں۔ اُس کی تمام بیٹیاں شادی شدہ تھیں اور اِس وجہ سے باپ کے گھر میں نہیں رہتی تھیں۔ لیکن اُسے 30 بیٹوں کے لئے بیویاں مل گئی تھیں، اور سب اُس کے گھر میں رہتے تھے۔ اِبضان نے سات سال کے دوران اسرائیل کی راہنمائی کی۔

And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

پھر وہ انتقال کر گیا اور بیت لحم میں دفنایا گیا۔

Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Beth–lehem.

اُس کے بعد ایلون قاضی بنا۔ وہ زبولون کے قبیلے سے تھا اور 10 سال کے دوران اسرائیل کی راہنمائی کرتا رہا۔

And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

جب وہ کوچ کر گیا تو اُسے زبولون کے ایالون میں دفن کیا گیا۔

And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

پھر عبدون بن ہِلیل قاضی بنا۔ وہ شہر فِرعاتون کا تھا۔

And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

اُس کے 40 بیٹے اور 30 پوتے تھے جو 70 گدھوں پر سفر کیا کرتے تھے۔ عبدون نے آٹھ سال کے دوران اسرائیل کی راہنمائی کی۔

And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

پھر وہ بھی جاں بحق ہو گیا، اور اُسے عمالیقیوں کے پہاڑی علاقے کے شہر فِرعاتون میں دفنایا گیا، جو اُس وقت افرائیم کا حصہ تھا۔

And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
