Jeremiah 36

یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یہویقیم بن یوسیاہ کی حکومت کے چوتھے سال میں رب کا کلام یرمیاہ پر نازل ہوا،

And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

”طومار لے کر اُس میں اسرائیل، یہوداہ اور باقی تمام قوموں کے بارے میں وہ تمام پیغامات قلم بند کر جو مَیں نے یوسیاہ کی حکومت سے لے کر آج تک تجھ پر نازل کئے ہیں۔

Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

شاید یہوداہ کے گھرانے میں ہر ایک اپنی بُری راہ سے باز آ کر واپس آئے اگر اُس آفت کی پوری خبر اُن تک پہنچے جو مَیں اِس قوم پر نازل کرنے کو ہوں۔ پھر مَیں اُن کی بےدینی اور گناہ کو معاف کروں گا۔“

It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

چنانچہ یرمیاہ نے باروک بن نیریاہ کو بُلا کر اُس سے وہ تمام پیغامات طومار میں لکھوائے جو رب نے اُس پر نازل کئے تھے۔

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

پھر یرمیاہ نے باروک سے کہا، ”مجھے نظربند کیا گیا ہے، اِس لئے مَیں رب کے گھر میں نہیں جا سکتا۔

And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:

لیکن آپ تو جا سکتے ہیں۔ روزے کے دن یہ طومار اپنے ساتھ لے کر رب کے گھر میں جائیں۔ حاضرین کے سامنے رب کی اُن تمام باتوں کو پڑھ کر سنائیں جو مَیں نے آپ سے لکھوائی ہیں۔ سب کو طومار کی باتیں سنائیں، اُنہیں بھی جو یہوداہ کی دیگر آبادیوں سے یہاں پہنچے ہیں۔

Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD'S house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

شاید وہ التجا کریں کہ رب اُن پر رحم کرے۔ شاید ہر ایک اپنی بُری راہ سے باز آ کر واپس آئے۔ کیونکہ جو غضب اِس قوم پر نازل ہونے والا ہے اور جس کا اعلان رب کر چکا ہے وہ بہت سخت ہے۔“

It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.

باروک بن نیریاہ نے ایسا ہی کیا۔ یرمیاہ نبی کی ہدایت کے مطابق اُس نے رب کے گھر میں طومار میں درج رب کے کلام کی تلاوت کی۔

And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.

اُس وقت لوگ روزہ رکھے ہوئے تھے، کیونکہ بادشاہ یہویقیم بن یوسیاہ کی حکومت کے پانچویں سال اور نویں مہینے میں اعلان کیا گیا تھا کہ یروشلم کے باشندے اور یہوداہ کے دیگر شہروں سے آئے ہوئے تمام لوگ رب کے حضور روزہ رکھیں۔

And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.

جب باروک نے طومار کی تلاوت کی تو تمام لوگ حاضر تھے۔ اُس وقت وہ رب کے گھر میں شاہی محرّر جمریاہ بن سافن کے کمرے میں بیٹھا تھا۔ یہ کمرا رب کے گھر کے اوپر والے صحن میں تھا، اور صحن کا نیا دروازہ وہاں سے دُور نہیں تھا۔

Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house, in the ears of all the people.

طومار میں درج رب کے تمام پیغامات سن کر جمریاہ بن سافن کا بیٹا میکایاہ

When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,

شاہی محل میں میرمنشی کے دفتر میں چلا گیا۔ وہاں تمام سرکاری افسر بیٹھے تھے یعنی اِلی سمع میرمنشی، دِلایاہ بن سمعیاہ، اِلناتن بن عکبور، جمریاہ بن سافن، صِدقیاہ بن حننیاہ اور باقی تمام ملازم۔

Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

میکایاہ نے اُنہیں سب کچھ سنایا جو باروک نے طومار کی تلاوت کر کے پیش کیا تھا۔

Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.

تب تمام بزرگوں نے یہودی بن نتنیاہ بن سلمیاہ بن کوشی کو باروک کے پاس بھیج کر اُسے اطلاع دی، ”جس طومار کی تلاوت آپ نے لوگوں کے سامنے کی اُسے لے کر ہمارے پاس آئیں۔“ چنانچہ باروک بن نیریاہ ہاتھ میں طومار کو تھامے ہوئے اُن کے پاس آیا۔

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

افسروں نے کہا، ”ذرا بیٹھ کر ہمارے لئے بھی طومار کی تلاوت کریں۔“ چنانچہ باروک نے اُنہیں سب کچھ پڑھ کر سنا دیا۔

And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.

یرمیاہ کی تمام پیش گوئیاں سنتے ہی وہ گھبرا گئے اور ڈر کے مارے ایک دوسرے کو دیکھنے لگے۔ پھر اُنہوں نے باروک سے کہا، ”لازم ہے کہ ہم بادشاہ کو اِن تمام باتوں سے آگاہ کریں۔

Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

ہمیں ذرا بتائیں، آپ نے یہ تمام باتیں کس طرح قلم بند کیں؟ کیا یرمیاہ نے سب کچھ زبانی آپ کو پیش کیا؟“

And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?

باروک نے جواب دیا، ”جی، وہ مجھے یہ تمام باتیں سناتا گیا، اور مَیں سب کچھ سیاہی سے اِس طومار میں درج کرتا گیا۔“

Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

یہ سن کر افسروں نے باروک سے کہا، ”اب چلے جائیں، آپ اور یرمیاہ دونوں چھپ جائیں! کسی کو بھی پتا نہ چلے کہ آپ کہاں ہیں۔“

Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.

افسروں نے طومار کو شاہی میرمنشی اِلی سمع کے دفتر میں محفوظ رکھ دیا، پھر دربار میں داخل ہو کر بادشاہ کو سب کچھ بتا دیا۔

And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.

بادشاہ نے یہودی کو طومار لے آنے کا حکم دیا۔ یہودی، اِلی سمع میرمنشی کے دفتر سے طومار کو لے کر بادشاہ اور تمام افسروں کی موجودگی میں اُس کی تلاوت کرنے لگا۔

So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

چونکہ نواں مہینہ تھا اِس لئے بادشاہ محل کے اُس حصے میں بیٹھا تھا جو سردیوں کے موسم کے لئے بنایا گیا تھا۔ اُس کے سامنے پڑی انگیٹھی میں آگ جل رہی تھی۔

Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

جب بھی یہودی تین یا چار کالم پڑھنے سے فارغ ہوا تو بادشاہ نے منشی کی چھری لے کر اُنہیں طومار سے کاٹ لیا اور آگ میں پھینک دیا۔ یہودی پڑھتا اور بادشاہ کاٹتا گیا۔ آخرکار پورا طومار راکھ ہو گیا تھا۔

And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

گو بادشاہ اور اُس کے تمام ملازموں نے یہ تمام باتیں سنیں توبھی نہ وہ گھبرائے، نہ اُنہوں نے پریشان ہو کر اپنے کپڑے پھاڑے۔

Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

اور گو اِلناتن، دِلایاہ اور جمریاہ نے بادشاہ سے منت کی کہ وہ طومار کو نہ جلائے توبھی اُس نے اُن کی نہ مانی

Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.

بلکہ بعد میں یرحمئیل شاہزادہ، سرایاہ بن عزری ایل اور سلمیاہ بن عبدئیل کو بھیجا تاکہ وہ باروک منشی اور یرمیاہ نبی کو گرفتار کریں۔ لیکن رب نے اُنہیں چھپائے رکھا تھا۔

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

بادشاہ کے طومار کو جلانے کے بعد رب یرمیاہ سے دوبارہ ہم کلام ہوا،

Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

”نیا طومار لے کر اُس میں وہی تمام پیغامات قلم بند کر جو اُس طومار میں درج تھے جسے شاہِ یہوداہ نے جلا دیا تھا۔

Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

ساتھ ساتھ یہویقیم کے بارے میں اعلان کر کہ رب فرماتا ہے، ’تُو نے طومار کو جلا کر یرمیاہ سے شکایت کی کہ تُو نے اِس کتاب میں کیوں لکھا ہے کہ شاہِ بابل ضرور آ کر اِس ملک کو تباہ کرے گا، اور اِس میں نہ انسان، نہ حیوان رہے گا؟‘

And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

چنانچہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ کے بارے میں رب کا فیصلہ سن! آئندہ اُس کے خاندان کا کوئی بھی فرد داؤد کے تخت پر نہیں بیٹھے گا۔ یہویقیم کی لاش باہر پھینکی جائے گی، اور وہاں وہ کھلے میدان میں پڑی رہے گی۔ کوئی بھی اُسے دن کی تپتی گرمی یا رات کی شدید سردی سے بچائے نہیں رکھے گا۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

مَیں اُسے اُس کے بچوں اور ملازموں سمیت اُن کی بےدینی کا مناسب اجر دوں گا۔ کیونکہ مَیں اُن پر اور یروشلم اور یہوداہ کے باشندوں پر وہ تمام آفت نازل کروں گا جس کا اعلان مَیں کر چکا ہوں۔ افسوس، اُنہوں نے میری نہیں سنی۔“

And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

چنانچہ یرمیاہ نے نیا طومار لے کر اُسے باروک بن نیریاہ کو دے دیا۔ پھر اُس نے باروک منشی سے وہ تمام پیغامات دوبارہ لکھوائے جو اُس طومار میں درج تھے جسے شاہِ یہوداہ یہویقیم نے جلا دیا تھا۔ اُن کے علاوہ مزید بہت سے پیغامات کا اضافہ ہوا۔

Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
