Jeremiah 2

Και εγεινε λογος Κυριου προς εμε λεγων,

Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Υπαγε και βοησον εις τα ωτα της Ιερουσαλημ λεγων, Ουτω λεγει Κυριος Ενθυμουμαι περι σου την προς σε ευμενειαν μου εν τη νεοτητι σου, την αγαπην της νυμφευσεως σου, οτε με ηκολουθεις εν τη ερημω, εν γη ασπαρτω

Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.

ο Ισραηλ ητο αγιος εις τον Κυριον, απαρχη των γεννηματων αυτου παντες οι κατατρωγοντες αυτον ησαν ενοχοι κακον ηλθεν επ αυτους, λεγει Κυριος.

Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.

Ακουσατε τον λογον του Κυριου, οικος Ιακωβ και πασαι αι συγγενειαι του οικου Ισραηλ

Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:

Ουτω λεγει Κυριος Ποιαν αδικιαν ευρηκαν εν εμοι οι πατερες σας, ωστε απεμακρυνθησαν απ εμου και περιεπατηααν οπισω της ματαιοτητος και εματαιωθησαν;

Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

και δεν ειπον, Που ειναι ο Κυριος, ο αναβιβασας ημας εκ γης Αιγυπτου, ο οδηγησας ημας δια της ερημου, δια τοπου ερημιας και χασματων, δια τοπου ανυδριας και σκιας θανατου, δια τοπου τον οποιον δεν επερασεν ανθρωπος και οπου ανθρωπος δεν κατωκησε;

Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?

Και σας εισηγαγον εις τοπον καρποφορον, δια να τρωγητε τους καρπους αυτου και τα αγαθα αυτου αφου ομως εισηλθετε, εμιανατε την γην μου και κατεστησατε βδελυγμα την κληρονομιαν μου.

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.

Οι ιερεις δεν ειπον, Που ειναι ο Κυριος; και οι κρατουντες τον νομον δεν με εγνωρισαν και οι ποιμενες εγινοντο παραβαται εναντιον μου, και οι προφηται προεφητευον δια του Βααλ και περιεπατουν οπισω πραγματων ανωφελων.

The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.

Δια τουτο ετι θελω κριθη με εσας, λεγει Κυριος, και με τους υιους των υιων σας θελω κριθη.

Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.

Διοτι διαβητε εις τας νησους των Κητιαιων και ιδετε και πεμψατε εις Κηδαρ και παρατηρησατε επιμελως, και ιδετε αν εσταθη τοιουτον πραγμα.

For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.

Ηλλαξεν εθνος θεους, αν και ουτοι δεν ηναι θεοι; ο λαος μου ομως ηλλαξε την δοξαν αυτου με πραγμα ανωφελες.

Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Εκπλαγητε, ουρανοι, δια τουτο, και φριξατε, συνταραχθητε σφοδρα, λεγει Κυριος.

Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.

Διοτι δυο κακα επραξεν ο λαος μου εμε εγκατελιπον, την πηγην των ζωντων υδατων, και εσκαψαν εις εαυτους λακκους, λακκους συντετριμμενους, οιτινες δεν δυνανται να κρατησωσιν υδωρ.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Μηπως ειναι δουλος ο Ισραηλ; η δουλος οικογενης; δια τι κατεσταθη λαφυρον;

Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?

Οι σκυμνοι εβρυχησαν επ αυτον, εξεδωκαν την φωνην αυτων και κατεστησαν την γην αυτου ερημον αι πολεις αυτου κατεκαησαν και εμειναν ακατοικητοι.

The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.

Οι υιοι προσετι της Νωφ και της Ταφνης συνετριψαν την κορυφην σου.

Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.

Δεν εκαμες τουτο συ εις σεαυτον, διοτι εγκατελιπες Κυριον τον Θεον σου οτε σε ωδηγει εν τη οδω;

Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?

Και τωρα τι εχεις να καμης εν τη οδω της Αιγυπτου, δια να πιης τα υδατα Σιωρ; η τι εχεις να καμης εν τη οδω της Ασσυριας, δια να πιης τα υδατα του ποταμου;

And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

Η ασεβεια σου θελει σε παιδευσει και αι παραβασεις σου θελουσι σε ελεγξει γνωρισον λοιπον και ιδε, οτι ειναι κακον και πικρον, το οτι εγκατελιπες Κυριον τον Θεον σου, και δεν ειναι ο φοβος μου εν σοι, λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος των δυναμεων.

Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Επειδη προ πολλου συνετριψα τον ζυγον σου, διεσπασα τα δεσμα σου, και συ ειπας, δεν θελω σταθη παραβατης πλεον ενω επι παντα υψηλον λοφον και υποκατω παντος δενδρου πρασινου περιεπλανηθης εκπορνευων.

For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.

Εγω δε σε εφυτευσα αμπελον εκλεκτην, σπερμα ολως αληθινον πως λοιπον μετεβληθης εις παρεφθαρμενον κλημα αμπελου ξενης εις εμε;

Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?

Δια τουτο και εαν πλυθης με νιτρον και πληθυνης εις σεαυτον το σμηγμα, η ανομια σου μενει σεσημειωμενη ενωπιον μου, λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος.

For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.

Πως δυνασαι να ειπης, δεν εμιανθην, δεν υπηγα οπισω των Βααλειμ; ιδε την οδον σου εν τη φαραγγι, γνωρισον τι επραξας εισαι ταχεια δρομας διατρεχουσα εν ταις οδοις αυτης

How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;

ονος αγρια συνειθισμενη εις την ερημον, αναπνεουσα τον αερα κατα την επιθυμιαν της καρδιας αυτης την ορμην αυτης, τις δυναται να επιστρεψη αυτην; παντες οι ζητουντες αυτην δεν θελουσι κοπιαζει εν τω μηνι αυτης θελουσιν ευρει αυτην.

A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

Κρατησον τον ποδα σου απο του να περιπατησης ανυποδητος, και τον λαρυγγα σου απο διψης αλλα συ ειπας, εις ματην ουχι διοτι ηγαπησα ξενους και κατοπιν αυτων θελω υπαγει.

Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

Καθως ο κλεπτης αισχυνεται οταν ευρεθη, ουτω θελει αισχυνθη ο οικος Ισραηλ, αυτοι, οι βασιλεις αυτων, οι αρχοντες αυτων και οι ιερεις αυτων και οι προφηται αυτων

As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

οιτινες λεγουσι προς το ξυλον, Πατηρ μου εισαι και προς τον λιθον, Συ με εγεννησας διοτι εστρεψαν νωτα προς εμε και ουχι προσωπον εν τω καιρω ομως της συμφορας αυτων θελουσιν ειπει, Αναστηθι και σωσον ημας.

Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

Και που ειναι οι θεοι σου, τους οποιους εκαμες εις σεαυτον; ας αναστηθωσιν, εαν δυνανται να σε σωσωσιν εν τω καιρω της συμφορας σου διοτι κατα τον αριθμον των πολεων σου ησαν οι θεοι σου, Ιουδα.

But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

Δια τι ηθελετε κριθη μετ εμου; σεις παντες εισθε παραβαται εις εμε, λεγει Κυριος.

Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.

Εις ματην επαταξα τα τεκνα σας δεν εδεχθησαν διορθωσιν η μαχαιρα σας κατεφαγε τους προφητας σας ως λεων εξολοθρευων.

In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

Ω γενεα, ιδετε τον λογον του Κυριου Εσταθην ερημος εις τον Ισραηλ, γη σκοτους; δια τι λεγει ο λαος μου, Ημεις ειμεθα κυριοι δεν θελομεν ελθει πλεον προς σε;

O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?

Δυναται η κορη να λησμονηση τους στολισμους αυτης, η νυμφη τον καλλωπισμον αυτης; και ομως ο λαος μου με ελησμονησεν ημερας αναριθμητους.

Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

Δια τι καλλωπιζεις την οδον σου δια να ζητης εραστας; εις τροπον ωστε και εδιδαξας τας οδους σου εις τας κακας.

Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.

Ετι εις τα κρασπεδα σου ευρεθησαν αιματα ψυχων πτωχων αθωων δεν ευρηκα αυτα ανορυττων, αλλ επι παντα ταυτα.

Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.

Και ομως λεγεις, Επειδη ειμαι αθωος, βεβαιως ο θυμος αυτου θελει αποστραφη απ εμου. Ιδου, εγω θελω κριθη μετα σου, διοτι λεγεις, Δεν ημαρτησα.

Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.

Δια τι περιπλανασαι τοσον δια να αλλαξης την οδον σου; θελεις καταισχυνθη και υπο της Αιγυπτου, καθως κατησχυνθης υπο της Ασσυριας.

Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.

Ναι, θελεις εξελθει εντευθεν με τας χειρας σου επι την κεφαλην σου διοτι ο Κυριος απεβαλε τας ελπιδας σου και δεν θελεις ευημερησει εις αυτας.

Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.
