Psalms 129

(O cîntare a treptelor.) Destul m'au asuprit din tinereţă-s'o spună Israel! -

Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

destul m'au asuprit din tinereţă, dar nu m'au biruit.

Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

plugarii au arat pe spinarea mea, au tras brazde lungi pe ea.

The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

Domnul este drept: El a tăiat funiile celor răi.

The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

Să se umple de ruşine şi să dea înapoi, toţi ceice urăsc Sionul!

Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

Să fie ca iarba de pe acoperişuri, care se usucă înainte de a fi smulsă!

Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:

Secerătorul nu-şi umple mîna cu ea, cel ce leagă snopii nu-şi încarcă braţul cu ea,

Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

şi trecătorii nu zic: ,,Binecuvîntarea Domnului să fie peste voi!`` ,,Vă binecuvîntăm în Numele Domnului!``

Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.
