Ruth 2

And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

بیت لحم میں نعومی کے مرحوم شوہر کا رشتے دار رہتا تھا جس کا نام بوعز تھا۔ وہ اثر و رسوخ رکھتا تھا، اور اُس کی زمینیں تھیں۔

And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

ایک دن روت نے اپنی ساس سے کہا، ”مَیں کھیتوں میں جا کر فصل کی کٹائی سے بچی ہوئی بالیں چن لوں۔ کوئی نہ کوئی تو مجھے اِس کی اجازت دے گا۔“ نعومی نے جواب دیا، ”ٹھیک ہے بیٹی، جائیں۔“

And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

روت کسی کھیت میں گئی اور مزدوروں کے پیچھے پیچھے چلتی ہوئی بچی ہوئی بالیں چننے لگی۔ اُسے معلوم نہ تھا کہ کھیت کا مالک سُسر کا رشتے دار بوعز ہے۔

And, behold, Boaz came from Beth–lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

اِتنے میں بوعز بیت لحم سے پہنچا۔ اُس نے اپنے مزدوروں سے کہا، ”رب آپ کے ساتھ ہو۔“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”اور رب آپ کو بھی برکت دے!“

Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

پھر بوعز نے مزدوروں کے انچارج سے پوچھا، ”اُس جوان عورت کا مالک کون ہے؟“

And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:

آدمی نے جواب دیا، ”یہ موآبی عورت نعومی کے ساتھ ملکِ موآب سے آئی ہے۔

And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

اِس نے مجھ سے مزدوروں کے پیچھے چل کر بچی ہوئی بالیں چننے کی اجازت لی۔ یہ تھوڑی دیر جھونپڑی کے سائے میں آرام کرنے کے سوا صبح سے لے کر اب تک کام میں لگی رہی ہے۔“

Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

یہ سن کر بوعز نے روت سے بات کی، ”بیٹی، میری بات سنیں! کسی اَور کھیت میں بچی ہوئی بالیں چننے کے لئے نہ جائیں بلکہ یہیں میری نوکرانیوں کے ساتھ رہیں۔

Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

کھیت کے اُس حصے پر دھیان دیں جہاں فصل کی کٹائی ہو رہی ہے اور نوکرانیوں کے پیچھے پیچھے چلتی رہیں۔ مَیں نے آدمیوں کو آپ کو چھیڑنے سے منع کیا ہے۔ جب بھی آپ کو پیاس لگے تو اُن برتنوں سے پانی پینا جو آدمیوں نے کنوئیں سے بھر رکھے ہیں۔“

Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

روت منہ کے بل جھک گئی اور بولی، ”مَیں اِس لائق نہیں کہ آپ مجھ پر اِتنی مہربانی کریں۔ مَیں تو پردیسی ہوں۔ آپ کیوں میری قدر کرتے ہیں؟“

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

بوعز نے جواب دیا، ”مجھے وہ کچھ بتایا گیا ہے جو آپ نے اپنے شوہر کی وفات سے لے کر آج تک اپنی ساس کے لئے کیا ہے۔ آپ اپنے ماں باپ اور اپنے وطن کو چھوڑ کر ایک قوم میں بسنے آئی ہیں جسے پہلے سے نہیں جانتی تھیں۔

The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

آپ رب اسرائیل کے خدا کے پَروں تلے پناہ لینے آئی ہیں۔ اب وہ آپ کو آپ کی نیکی کا پورا اجر دے۔“

Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

روت نے کہا، ”میرے آقا، اللہ کرے کہ مَیں آئندہ بھی آپ کی منظورِ نظر رہوں۔ گو مَیں آپ کی نوکرانیوں کی حیثیت بھی نہیں رکھتی توبھی آپ نے مجھ سے شفقت بھری باتیں کر کے مجھے تسلی دی ہے۔“

And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

کھانے کے وقت بوعز نے روت کو بُلا کر کہا، ”اِدھر آ کر روٹی کھائیں اور اپنا نوالہ سرکے میں ڈبو دیں۔“ روت اُس کے مزدوروں کے ساتھ بیٹھ گئی، اور بوعز نے اُسے جَو کے بُھنے ہوئے دانے دے دیئے۔ روت نے جی بھر کر کھانا کھایا۔ پھر بھی کچھ بچ گیا۔

And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

جب وہ کام جاری رکھنے کے لئے کھڑی ہوئی تو بوعز نے حکم دیا، ”اُسے پُولوں کے درمیان بھی بالیں جمع کرنے دو، اور اگر وہ ایسا کرے تو اُس کی بےعزتی مت کرنا۔

And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.

نہ صرف یہ بلکہ کام کرتے وقت اِدھر اُدھر پُولوں کی کچھ بالیں زمین پر گرنے دو۔ جب وہ اُنہیں جمع کرنے آئے تو اُسے مت جھڑکنا!“

So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

روت نے کھیت میں شام تک کام جاری رکھا۔ جب اُس نے بالوں کو کوٹ لیا تو دانوں کے تقریباً 13 کلو گرام نکلے۔

And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

پھر وہ سب کچھ اُٹھا کر اپنے گھر واپس لے آئی اور ساس کو دکھایا۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے اُسے وہ بُھنے ہوئے دانے بھی دیئے جو دوپہر کے کھانے سے بچ گئے تھے۔

And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.

نعومی نے پوچھا، ”آپ نے یہ سب کچھ کہاں سے جمع کیا؟ بتائیں، آپ کہاں تھیں؟ اللہ اُسے برکت دے جس نے آپ کی اِتنی قدر کی ہے!“ روت نے کہا، ”جس آدمی کے کھیت میں مَیں نے آج کام کیا اُس کا نام بوعز ہے۔“

And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

نعومی پکار اُٹھی، ”رب اُسے برکت دے! وہ تو ہمارا قریبی رشتے دار ہے، اور شریعت کے مطابق اُس کا حق ہے کہ وہ ہماری مدد کرے۔ اب مجھے معلوم ہوا ہے کہ اللہ ہم پر اور ہمارے مرحوم شوہروں پر رحم کرنے سے باز نہیں آیا!“

And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

روت بولی، ”اُس نے مجھ سے یہ بھی کہا کہ کہیں اَور نہ جانا بلکہ کٹائی کے اختتام تک میرے مزدوروں کے پیچھے پیچھے بالیں جمع کرنا۔“

And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

نعومی نے جواب میں کہا، ”بہت اچھا۔ بیٹی، ایسا ہی کریں۔ اُس کی نوکرانیوں کے ساتھ رہنے کا یہ فائدہ ہے کہ آپ محفوظ رہیں گی۔ کسی اَور کے کھیت میں جائیں تو ہو سکتا ہے کہ کوئی آپ کو تنگ کرے۔“

So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

چنانچہ روت جَو اور گندم کی کٹائی کے پورے موسم میں بوعز کی نوکرانیوں کے پاس جاتی اور بچی ہوئی بالیں چنتی۔ شام کو وہ اپنی ساس کے گھر واپس چلی جاتی تھی۔
