Nahum 3

Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

اُس قاتل شہر پر افسوس جو جھوٹ اور لُوٹے ہوئے مال سے بھرا ہوا ہے۔ وہ لُوٹ مار سے کبھی باز نہیں آتا۔

The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

سنو! چابک کی آواز، چلتے ہوئے رتھوں کا شور! گھوڑے سرپٹ دوڑ رہے، رتھ بھاگ بھاگ کر اُچھل رہے ہیں۔

The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

گھڑسوار آگے بڑھ رہے، شعلہ زن تلواریں اور چمکتے نیزے نظر آ رہے ہیں۔ ہر طرف مقتول ہی مقتول، بےشمار لاشوں کے ڈھیر پڑے ہیں۔ اِتنی ہیں کہ لوگ ٹھوکر کھا کھا کر اُن پر سے گزرتے ہیں۔

Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

یہ ہو گا نینوہ کا انجام، اُس دل فریب کسبی اور جادوگرنی کا جس نے اپنی جادوگری اور عصمت فروشی سے اقوام اور اُمّتوں کو غلامی میں بیچ ڈالا۔

Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”اے نینوہ بیٹی، اب مَیں تجھ سے نپٹ لیتا ہوں۔ مَیں تیرا لباس تیرے سر کے اوپر اُٹھاؤں گا کہ تیرا ننگاپن اقوام کو نظر آئے اور تیرا منہ دیگر ممالک کے سامنے کالا ہو جائے۔

And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

مَیں تجھ پر کُوڑا کرکٹ پھینک کر تیری تحقیر کروں گا۔ تُو دوسروں کے لئے تماشا بن جائے گی۔

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

تب سب تجھے دیکھ کر بھاگ جائیں گے۔ وہ کہیں گے، ’نینوہ تباہ ہو گئی ہے!‘ اب اُس پر افسوس کرنے والا کون رہا؟ اب مجھے کہاں سے لوگ ملیں گے جو تجھے تسلی دیں؟“

Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

کیا تُو تھیبس شہر سے بہتر ہے، جو دریائے نیل پر واقع تھا؟ وہ تو پانی سے گھرا ہوا تھا، اور پانی ہی اُسے حملوں سے محفوظ رکھتا تھا۔

Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

ایتھوپیا اور مصر کے فوجی اُس کے لئے لامحدود طاقت کا باعث تھے، فوط اور لبیا اُس کے اتحادی تھے۔

Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

توبھی وہ قیدی بن کر جلاوطن ہوا۔ ہر گلی کے کونے میں اُس کے شیرخوار بچوں کو زمین پر پٹخ دیا گیا۔ اُس کے شرفا قرعہ اندازی کے ذریعے تقسیم ہوئے، اُس کے تمام بزرگ زنجیروں میں جکڑے گئے۔

Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

اے نینوہ بیٹی، تُو بھی نشے میں دُھت ہو جائے گی۔ تُو بھی حواس باختہ ہو کر دشمن سے پناہ لینے کی کوشش کرے گی۔

All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

تیرے تمام قلعے پکے پھل سے لدے ہوئے انجیر کے درخت ہیں۔ جب اُنہیں ہلایا جائے تو انجیر فوراً کھانے والے کے منہ میں گر جاتے ہیں۔

Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

لو، تیرے تمام دستے عورتیں بن گئے ہیں۔ تیرے ملک کے دروازے دشمن کے لئے پورے طور پر کھولے گئے، تیرے کنڈے نذرِ آتش ہو گئے ہیں۔

Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

خوب پانی جمع کر تاکہ محاصرے کے دوران کافی ہو۔ اپنی قلعہ بندی مزید مضبوط کر! گارے کو پاؤں سے لتاڑ لتاڑ کر اینٹیں بنا لے!

There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

تاہم آگ تجھے بھسم کرے گی، تلوار تجھے مار ڈالے گی، ہاں وہ تجھے ٹڈیوں کی طرح کھا جائے گی۔ بچنے کا کوئی امکان نہیں ہو گا، خواہ تُو ٹڈیوں کی طرح بےشمار کیوں نہ ہو جائے۔

Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

بےشک تیرے تاجر ستاروں جتنے لاتعداد ہو گئے ہیں، لیکن اچانک وہ ٹڈیوں کے بچوں کی طرح اپنی کینچلی کو اُتار لیں گے اور اُڑ کر غائب ہو جائیں گے۔

Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

تیرے درباری ٹڈیوں جیسے اور تیرے افسر ٹڈی دَلوں کی مانند ہیں جو سردیوں کے موسم میں دیواروں کے ساتھ چپک جاتی لیکن دھوپ نکلتے ہی اُڑ کر اوجھل ہو جاتی ہیں۔ کسی کو بھی پتا نہیں کہ وہ کہاں چلی گئی ہیں۔

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

اے اسور کے بادشاہ، تیرے چرواہے گہری نیند سو رہے، تیرے شرفا آرام کر رہے ہیں۔ تیری قوم پہاڑوں پر منتشر ہو گئی ہے، اور کوئی نہیں جو اُنہیں دوبارہ جمع کرے۔

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

تیری چوٹ بھر ہی نہیں سکتی، تیرا زخم لاعلاج ہے۔ جسے بھی تیرے انجام کی خبر ملے وہ تالی بجائے گا۔ کیونکہ سب کو تیرا مسلسل ظلم و تشدد برداشت کرنا پڑا۔
