Judges 2

And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

رب کا فرشتہ جِلجال سے چڑھ کر بوکیم پہنچا۔ وہاں اُس نے اسرائیلیوں سے کہا، ”مَیں تمہیں مصر سے نکال کر اُس ملک میں لایا جس کا وعدہ مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر تمہارے باپ دادا سے کیا تھا۔ اُس وقت مَیں نے کہا کہ مَیں تمہارے ساتھ اپنا عہد کبھی نہیں توڑوں گا۔

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

اور مَیں نے حکم دیا، ’اِس ملک کی قوموں کے ساتھ عہد مت باندھنا بلکہ اُن کی قربان گاہوں کو گرا دینا۔‘ لیکن تم نے میری نہ سنی۔ یہ تم نے کیا کِیا؟

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

اِس لئے اب مَیں تمہیں بتاتا ہوں کہ مَیں اُنہیں تمہارے آگے سے نہیں نکالوں گا۔ وہ تمہارے پہلوؤں میں کانٹے بنیں گے، اور اُن کے دیوتا تمہارے لئے پھندا بنے رہیں گے۔“

And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

رب کے فرشتے کی یہ بات سن کر اسرائیلی خوب روئے۔

And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

یہی وجہ ہے کہ اُس جگہ کا نام بوکیم یعنی رونے والے پڑ گیا۔ پھر اُنہوں نے وہاں رب کے حضور قربانیاں پیش کیں۔

And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

یشوع کے قوم کو رُخصت کرنے کے بعد ہر ایک قبیلہ اپنے علاقے پر قبضہ کرنے کے لئے روانہ ہوا تھا۔

And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.

جب تک یشوع اور وہ بزرگ زندہ رہے جنہوں نے وہ عظیم کام دیکھے ہوئے تھے جو رب نے اسرائیلیوں کے لئے کئے تھے اُس وقت تک اسرائیلی رب کی وفاداری سے خدمت کرتے رہے۔

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

پھر رب کا خادم یشوع بن نون انتقال کر گیا۔ اُس کی عمر 110 سال تھی۔

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath–heres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

اُسے تِمنت حرِس میں اُس کی اپنی موروثی زمین میں دفنایا گیا۔ (یہ شہر افرائیم کے پہاڑی علاقے میں جعس پہاڑ کے شمال میں ہے۔)

And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

جب ہم عصر اسرائیلی سب مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملے تو نئی نسل اُبھر آئی جو نہ تو رب کو جانتی، نہ اُن کاموں سے واقف تھی جو رب نے اسرائیل کے لئے کئے تھے۔

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

اُس وقت وہ ایسی حرکتیں کرنے لگے جو رب کو بُری لگیں۔ اُنہوں نے بعل دیوتا کے بُتوں کی پوجا کر کے

And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

رب اپنے باپ دادا کے خدا کو ترک کر دیا جو اُنہیں مصر سے نکال لایا تھا۔ وہ گرد و نواح کی قوموں کے دیگر معبودوں کے پیچھے لگ گئے اور اُن کی پوجا بھی کرنے لگے۔ اِس سے رب کا غضب اُن پر بھڑکا،

And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

کیونکہ اُنہوں نے اُس کی خدمت چھوڑ کر بعل دیوتا اور عستارات دیوی کی پوجا کی۔

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

رب یہ دیکھ کر اسرائیلیوں سے ناراض ہوا اور اُنہیں ڈاکوؤں کے حوالے کر دیا جنہوں نے اُن کا مال لُوٹا۔ اُس نے اُنہیں ارد گرد کے دشمنوں کے ہاتھ بیچ ڈالا، اور وہ اُن کا مقابلہ کرنے کے قابل نہ رہے۔

Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

جب بھی اسرائیلی لڑنے کے لئے نکلے تو رب کا ہاتھ اُن کے خلاف تھا۔ نتیجتاً وہ ہارتے گئے جس طرح اُس نے قَسم کھا کر فرمایا تھا۔ جب وہ اِس طرح بڑی مصیبت میں تھے

Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

تو رب اُن کے درمیان قاضی برپا کرتا جو اُنہیں لُوٹنے والوں کے ہاتھ سے بچاتے۔

And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

لیکن وہ اُن کی نہ سنتے بلکہ زنا کر کے دیگر معبودوں کے پیچھے لگے اور اُن کی پوجا کرتے رہتے۔ گو اُن کے باپ دادا رب کے احکام کے تابع رہے تھے، لیکن وہ خود بڑی جلدی سے اُس راہ سے ہٹ جاتے جس پر اُن کے باپ دادا چلے تھے۔

And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

لیکن جب بھی وہ دشمن کے ظلم اور دباؤ تلے کراہنے لگتے تو رب کو اُن پر ترس آ جاتا، اور وہ کسی قاضی کو برپا کرتا اور اُس کی مدد کر کے اُنہیں بچاتا۔ جتنے عرصے تک قاضی زندہ رہتا اُتنی دیر تک اسرائیلی دشمنوں کے ہاتھ سے محفوظ رہتے۔

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

لیکن اُس کے مرنے پر وہ دوبارہ اپنی پرانی راہوں پر چلنے لگتے، بلکہ جب وہ مُڑ کر دیگر معبودوں کی پیروی اور پوجا کرنے لگتے تو اُن کی روِش باپ دادا کی روِش سے بھی بُری ہوتی۔ وہ اپنی شریر حرکتوں اور ہٹ دھرم راہوں سے باز آنے کے لئے تیار ہی نہ ہوتے۔

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

اِس لئے اللہ کو اسرائیل پر بڑا غصہ آیا۔ اُس نے کہا، ”اِس قوم نے وہ عہد توڑ دیا ہے جو مَیں نے اِس کے باپ دادا سے باندھا تھا۔ یہ میری نہیں سنتی،

I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

اِس لئے مَیں اُن قوموں کو نہیں نکالوں گا جو یشوع کی موت سے لے کر آج تک ملک میں رہ گئی ہیں۔ یہ قومیں اِس میں آباد رہیں گی،

That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

اور مَیں اُن سے اسرائیلیوں کو آزما کر دیکھوں گا کہ آیا وہ اپنے باپ دادا کی طرح رب کی راہ پر چلیں گے یا نہیں۔“

Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

چنانچہ رب نے اِن قوموں کو نہ یشوع کے حوالے کیا، نہ فوراً نکالا بلکہ اُنہیں ملک میں ہی رہنے دیا۔
