Isaiah 63

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

یہ کون ہے جو ادوم سے آ رہا ہے، جو سرخ سرخ کپڑے پہنے بُصرہ شہر سے پہنچ رہا ہے؟ یہ کون ہے جو رُعب سے ملبّس بڑی طاقت کے ساتھ آگے بڑھ رہا ہے؟ ”مَیں ہی ہوں، وہ جو انصاف سے بولتا، جو بڑی قدرت سے تجھے بچاتا ہے۔“

Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

تیرے کپڑے کیوں اِتنے لال ہیں؟ لگتا ہے کہ تیرا لباس حوض میں انگور کچلنے سے سرخ ہو گیا ہے۔

I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

”مَیں انگوروں کو اکیلا ہی کچلتا رہا ہوں، اقوام میں سے کوئی میرے ساتھ نہیں تھا۔ مَیں نے غصے میں آ کر اُنہیں کچلا، طیش میں اُنہیں روندا۔ اُن کے خون کی چھینٹیں میرے کپڑوں پر پڑ گئیں، میرا سارا لباس آلودہ ہوا۔

For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

کیونکہ میرا دل انتقام لینے پر تُلا ہوا تھا، اپنی قوم کا عوضانہ دینے کا سال آ گیا تھا۔

And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

مَیں نے اپنے ارد گرد نظر دوڑائی، لیکن کوئی نہیں تھا جو میری مدد کرتا۔ مَیں حیران تھا کہ کسی نے بھی میرا ساتھ نہ دیا۔ چنانچہ میرے اپنے بازو نے میری مدد کی، اور میرے طیش نے مجھے سہارا دیا۔

And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

غصے میں آ کر مَیں نے اقوام کو پامال کیا، طیش میں اُنہیں مدہوش کر کے اُن کا خون زمین پر گرا دیا۔“

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

مَیں رب کی مہربانیاں سناؤں گا، اُس کے قابلِ تعریف کاموں کی تمجید کروں گا۔ جو کچھ رب نے ہمارے لئے کیا، جو متعدد بھلائیاں اُس نے اپنے رحم اور بڑے فضل سے اسرائیل کو دکھائی ہیں اُن کی ستائش کروں گا۔

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

اُس نے فرمایا، ”یقیناً یہ میری قوم کے ہیں، ایسے فرزند جو بےوفا نہیں ہوں گے۔“ یہ کہہ کر وہ اُن کا نجات دہندہ بن گیا،

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

وہ اُن کی تمام مصیبت میں شریک ہوا، اور اُس کے حضور کے فرشتے نے اُنہیں چھٹکارا دیا۔ وہ اُنہیں پیار کرتا، اُن پر ترس کھاتا تھا، اِس لئے اُس نے عوضانہ دے کر اُنہیں چھڑایا۔ ہاں، قدیم زمانے سے آج تک وہ اُنہیں اُٹھائے پھرتا رہا۔

But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

لیکن وہ سرکش ہوئے، اُنہوں نے اُس کے قدوس روح کو دُکھ پہنچایا۔ تب وہ مُڑ کر اُن کا دشمن بن گیا۔ خود وہ اُن سے لڑنے لگا۔

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

پھر اُس کی قوم کو وہ قدیم زمانہ یاد آیا جب موسیٰ اپنی قوم کے درمیان تھا، اور وہ پکار اُٹھے، ”وہ کہاں ہے جو اپنی بھیڑبکریوں کو اُن کے گلہ بانوں سمیت سمندر میں سے نکال لایا؟ وہ کہاں ہے جس نے اپنے روح القدس کو اُن کے درمیان نازل کیا،

That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

جس کی جلالی قدرت موسیٰ کے دائیں ہاتھ حاضر رہی تاکہ اُس کو سہارا دے؟ وہ کہاں ہے جس نے پانی کو اسرائیلیوں کے سامنے تقسیم کر کے اپنے لئے ابدی شہرت پیدا کی

That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

اور اُنہیں گہرائیوں میں سے گزرنے دیا؟ اُس وقت وہ کھلے میدان میں چلنے والے گھوڑے کی طرح آرام سے گزرے اور کہیں بھی ٹھوکر نہ کھائی۔

As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

جس طرح گائےبَیل آرام کے لئے وادی میں اُترتے ہیں اُسی طرح اُنہیں رب کے روح سے آرام اور سکون حاصل ہوا۔“ اِسی طرح تُو نے اپنی قوم کی راہنمائی کی تاکہ تیرے نام کو جلال ملے۔

Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

اے اللہ، آسمان سے ہم پر نظر ڈال، بلندیوں پر اپنی مُقدّس اور شاندار سکونت گاہ سے دیکھ! اِس وقت تیری غیرت اور قدرت کہاں ہے؟ ہم تیری نرمی اور مہربانیوں سے محروم رہ گئے ہیں!

Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

تُو تو ہمارا باپ ہے۔ کیونکہ ابراہیم ہمیں نہیں جانتا اور اسرائیل ہمیں نہیں پہچانتا، لیکن تُو، رب ہمارا باپ ہے، قدیم زمانے سے ہی تیرا نام ’ہمارا چھڑانے والا‘ ہے۔

O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

اے رب، تُو ہمیں اپنی راہوں سے کیوں بھٹکنے دیتا ہے؟ تُو نے ہمارے دلوں کو اِتنا سخت کیوں کر دیا کہ ہم تیرا خوف نہیں مان سکتے؟ ہماری خاطر واپس آ! کیونکہ ہم تیرے خادم، تیری موروثی ملکیت کے قبیلے ہیں۔

The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

تیرا مقدِس تھوڑی ہی دیر کے لئے تیری قوم کی ملکیت رہا، لیکن اب ہمارے مخالفوں نے اُسے پاؤں تلے روند ڈالا ہے۔

We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

لگتا ہے کہ ہم کبھی تیری حکومت کے تحت نہیں رہے، کہ ہم پر کبھی تیرے نام کا ٹھپا نہیں لگا تھا۔
