II Samuel 16

And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

داؤد ابھی پہاڑ کی چوٹی سے کچھ آگے نکل گیا تھا کہ مفی بوست کا ملازم ضیبا اُس سے ملنے آیا۔ اُس کے پاس دو گدھے تھے جن پر زِینیں کسی ہوئی تھیں۔ اُن پر 200 روٹیاں، کشمش کی 100 ٹکیاں، 100 تازہ پھل اور مَے کی ایک مشک لدی ہوئی تھی۔

And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

بادشاہ نے پوچھا، ”آپ اِن چیزوں کے ساتھ کیا کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟“ ضیبا نے جواب دیا، ”گدھے بادشاہ کے خاندان کے لئے ہیں، وہ اِن پر بیٹھ کر سفر کریں۔ روٹی اور پھل جوانوں کے لئے ہیں، اور مَے اُن کے لئے جو ریگستان میں چلتے چلتے تھک جائیں۔“

And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

بادشاہ نے سوال کیا، ”آپ کے پرانے مالک کا پوتا مفی بوست کہاں ہے؟“ ضیبا نے کہا، ”وہ یروشلم میں ٹھہرا ہوا ہے۔ وہ سوچتا ہے کہ آج اسرائیلی مجھے بادشاہ بنا دیں گے، کیونکہ مَیں ساؤل کا پوتا ہوں۔“

Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

یہ سن کر داؤد بولا، ”آج ہی مفی بوست کی تمام ملکیت آپ کے نام منتقل کی جاتی ہے!“ ضیبا نے کہا، ”مَیں آپ کے سامنے اپنے گھٹنے ٹیکتا ہوں۔ رب کرے کہ مَیں اپنے آقا اور بادشاہ کا منظورِ نظر رہوں۔“

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

جب داؤد بادشاہ بحوریم کے قریب پہنچا تو ایک آدمی وہاں سے نکل کر اُس پر لعنتیں بھیجنے لگا۔ آدمی کا نام سِمعی بن جیرا تھا، اور وہ ساؤل کا رشتے دار تھا۔

And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

وہ داؤد اور اُس کے افسروں پر پتھر بھی پھینکنے لگا، اگرچہ داؤد کے بائیں اور دائیں ہاتھ اُس کے محافظ اور بہترین فوجی چل رہے تھے۔

And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

لعنت کرتے کرتے سِمعی چیخ رہا تھا، ”چل، دفع ہو جا! قاتل! بدمعاش!

The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

یہ تیرا ہی قصور تھا کہ ساؤل اور اُس کا خاندان تباہ ہوئے۔ اب رب تجھے جو ساؤل کی جگہ تخت نشین ہو گیا ہے اِس کی مناسب سزا دے رہا ہے۔ اُس نے تیرے بیٹے ابی سلوم کو تیری جگہ تخت نشین کر کے تجھے تباہ کر دیا ہے۔ قاتل کو صحیح معاوضہ مل گیا ہے!“

Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

ابی شے بن ضرویاہ بادشاہ سے کہنے لگا، ”یہ کیسا مُردہ کُتا ہے جو میرے آقا بادشاہ پر لعنت کرے؟ مجھے اجازت دیں، تو مَیں جا کر اُس کا سر قلم کر دوں۔“

And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?

لیکن بادشاہ نے اُسے روک دیا، ”میرا آپ اور آپ کے بھائی یوآب سے کیا واسطہ؟ نہیں، اُسے لعنت کرنے دیں۔ ہو سکتا ہے رب نے اُسے یہ کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے۔ تو پھر ہم کون ہیں کہ اُسے روکیں۔“

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

پھر داؤد تمام افسروں سے بھی مخاطب ہوا، ”جبکہ میرا اپنا بیٹا مجھے قتل کرنے کی کوشش کر رہا ہے تو ساؤل کا یہ رشتے دار ایسا کیوں نہ کرے؟ اِسے چھوڑ دو، کیونکہ رب نے اِسے یہ کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے۔

It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

شاید رب میری مصیبت کا لحاظ کر کے سِمعی کی لعنتیں برکت میں بدل دے۔“

And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

داؤد اور اُس کے لوگوں نے سفر جاری رکھا۔ سِمعی قریب کی پہاڑی ڈھلان پر اُس کے برابر چلتے چلتے اُس پر لعنتیں بھیجتا اور پتھر اور مٹی کے ڈھیلے پھینکتا رہا۔

And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

سب تھکے ماندے دریائے یردن کو پہنچ گئے۔ وہاں داؤد تازہ دم ہو گیا۔

And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

اِتنے میں ابی سلوم اپنے پیروکاروں کے ساتھ یروشلم میں داخل ہوا تھا۔ اخی تُفل بھی اُن کے ساتھ مل گیا تھا۔

And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

تھوڑی دیر کے بعد داؤد کا دوست حوسی ارکی ابی سلوم کے دربار میں حاضر ہو کر پکارا، ”بادشاہ زندہ باد! بادشاہ زندہ باد!“

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

یہ سن کر ابی سلوم نے اُس سے طنزاً کہا، ”یہ کیسی وفاداری ہے جو آپ اپنے دوست داؤد کو دکھا رہے ہیں؟ آپ اپنے دوست کے ساتھ روانہ کیوں نہ ہوئے؟“

And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

حوسی نے جواب دیا، ”نہیں، جس آدمی کو رب اور تمام اسرائیلیوں نے مقرر کیا ہے، وہی میرا مالک ہے، اور اُسی کی خدمت میں مَیں حاضر رہوں گا۔

And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

دوسرے، اگر کسی کی خدمت کرنی ہے تو کیا داؤد کے بیٹے کی خدمت کرنا مناسب نہیں ہے؟ جس طرح مَیں آپ کے باپ کی خدمت کرتا رہا ہوں اُسی طرح اب آپ کی خدمت کروں گا۔“

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

پھر ابی سلوم اخی تُفل سے مخاطب ہوا، ”آگے کیا کرنا چاہئے؟ مجھے اپنا مشورہ پیش کریں۔“

And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.

اخی تُفل نے جواب دیا، ”آپ کے باپ نے اپنی کچھ داشتاؤں کو محل سنبھالنے کے لئے یہاں چھوڑ دیا ہے۔ اُن کے ساتھ ہم بستر ہو جائیں۔ پھر تمام اسرائیل کو معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ آپ نے اپنے باپ کی ایسی بےعزتی کی ہے کہ صلح کا راستہ بند ہو گیا ہے۔ یہ دیکھ کر سب جو آپ کے ساتھ ہیں مضبوط ہو جائیں گے۔“

So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

ابی سلوم مان گیا، اور محل کی چھت پر اُس کے لئے خیمہ لگایا گیا۔ اُس میں وہ پورے اسرائیل کے دیکھتے دیکھتے اپنے باپ کی داشتاؤں سے ہم بستر ہوا۔

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

اُس وقت اخی تُفل کا ہر مشورہ اللہ کے فرمان جیسا مانا جاتا تھا۔ داؤد اور ابی سلوم دونوں یوں ہی اُس کے مشوروں کی قدر کرتے تھے۔
