II Kings 8

Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

ایک دن الیشع نے اُس عورت کو جس کا بیٹا اُس نے زندہ کیا تھا مشورہ دیا، ”اپنے خاندان کو لے کر عارضی طور پر بیرونِ ملک چلی جائیں، کیونکہ رب نے حکم دیا ہے کہ ملک میں سات سال تک کال ہو گا۔“

And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

شونیم کی عورت نے مردِ خدا کی بات مان لی۔ اپنے خاندان کو لے کر وہ چلی گئی اور سات سال فلستی ملک میں رہی۔

And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

سات سال گزر گئے تو وہ اُس ملک سے واپس آئی۔ لیکن کسی اَور نے اُس کے گھر اور زمین پر قبضہ کر رکھا تھا، اِس لئے وہ مدد کے لئے بادشاہ کے پاس گئی۔

And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

عین اُس وقت جب وہ دربار میں پہنچی تو بادشاہ مردِ خدا الیشع کے نوکر جیحازی سے گفتگو کر رہا تھا۔ بادشاہ نے اُس سے درخواست کی تھی، ”مجھے وہ تمام بڑے کام سنا دو جو الیشع نے کئے ہیں۔“

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

اور اب جب جیحازی سنا رہا تھا کہ الیشع نے مُردہ لڑکے کو کس طرح زندہ کر دیا تو اُس کی ماں اندر آ کر بادشاہ سے التماس کرنے لگی، ”گھر اور زمین واپس ملنے میں میری مدد کیجئے۔“ اُسے دیکھ کر جیحازی نے بادشاہ سے کہا، ”میرے آقا اور بادشاہ، یہ وہی عورت ہے اور یہ اُس کا وہی بیٹا ہے جسے الیشع نے زندہ کر دیا تھا۔“

And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

بادشاہ نے عورت سے سوال کیا، ”کیا یہ صحیح ہے؟“ عورت نے تصدیق میں اُسے دوبارہ سب کچھ سنایا۔ تب اُس نے عورت کا معاملہ کسی درباری افسر کے سپرد کر کے حکم دیا، ”دھیان دیں کہ اِسے پوری ملکیت واپس مل جائے! اور جتنے پیسے قبضہ کرنے والا عورت کی غیرموجودگی میں زمین کی فصلوں سے کما سکا وہ بھی عورت کو دے دیئے جائیں۔“

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben–hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

ایک دن الیشع دمشق آیا۔ اُس وقت شام کا بادشاہ بن ہدد بیمار تھا۔ جب اُسے اطلاع ملی کہ مردِ خدا آیا ہے

And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

تو اُس نے اپنے افسر حزائیل کو حکم دیا، ”مردِ خدا کے لئے تحفہ لے کر اُسے ملنے جائیں۔ وہ رب سے دریافت کرے کہ کیا مَیں بیماری سے شفا پاؤں گا یا نہیں؟“

So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben–hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

حزائیل 40 اونٹوں پر دمشق کی بہترین پیداوار لاد کر الیشع سے ملنے گیا۔ اُس کے پاس پہنچ کر وہ اُس کے سامنے کھڑا ہوا اور کہا، ”آپ کے بیٹے شام کے بادشاہ بن ہدد نے مجھے آپ کے پاس بھیجا ہے۔ وہ یہ جاننا چاہتا ہے کہ کیا مَیں اپنی بیماری سے شفا پاؤں گا یا نہیں؟“

And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

الیشع نے جواب دیا، ”جائیں اور اُسے اطلاع دیں، ’آپ ضرور شفا پائیں گے۔‘ لیکن رب نے مجھ پر ظاہر کیا ہے کہ وہ حقیقت میں مر جائے گا۔“

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

الیشع خاموش ہو گیا اور ٹکٹکی باندھ کر بڑی دیر تک اُسے گھورتا رہا، پھر رونے لگا۔

And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

حزائیل نے پوچھا، ”میرے آقا، آپ کیوں رو رہے ہیں؟“ الیشع نے جواب دیا، ”مجھے معلوم ہے کہ آپ اسرائیلیوں کو کتنا نقصان پہنچائیں گے۔ آپ اُن کی قلعہ بند آبادیوں کو آگ لگا کر اُن کے جوانوں کو تلوار سے قتل کر دیں گے، اُن کے چھوٹے بچوں کو زمین پر پٹخ دیں گے اور اُن کی حاملہ عورتوں کے پیٹ چیر ڈالیں گے۔“

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

حزائیل بولا، ”مجھ جیسے کُتے کی کیا حیثیت ہے کہ اِتنا بڑا کام کروں؟“ الیشع نے کہا، ”رب نے مجھے دکھا دیا ہے کہ آپ شام کے بادشاہ بن جائیں گے۔“

So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

اِس کے بعد حزائیل چلا گیا اور اپنے مالک کے پاس واپس آیا۔ بادشاہ نے پوچھا، ”الیشع نے آپ کو کیا بتایا؟“ حزائیل نے جواب دیا، ”اُس نے مجھے یقین دلایا کہ آپ شفا پائیں گے۔“

And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

لیکن اگلے دن حزائیل نے کمبل لے کر پانی میں بھگو دیا اور اُسے بادشاہ کے منہ پر رکھ دیا۔ بادشاہ کا سانس رُک گیا اور وہ مر گیا۔ پھر حزائیل تخت نشین ہوا۔

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

یہورام بن یہوسفط اسرائیل کے بادشاہ یورام کی حکومت کے پانچویں سال میں یہوداہ کا بادشاہ بنا۔ شروع میں وہ اپنے باپ کے ساتھ حکومت کرتا تھا۔

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

یہورام 32 سال کی عمر میں بادشاہ بنا، اور وہ یروشلم میں رہ کر 8 سال تک حکومت کرتا رہا۔

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

اُس کی شادی اسرائیل کے بادشاہ اخی اب کی بیٹی سے ہوئی تھی، اور وہ اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں اور خاص کر اخی اب کے خاندان کے بُرے نمونے پر چلتا رہا۔ اُس کا چال چلن رب کو ناپسند تھا۔

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

توبھی وہ اپنے خادم داؤد کی خاطر یہوداہ کو تباہ نہیں کرنا چاہتا تھا، کیونکہ اُس نے داؤد سے وعدہ کیا تھا کہ تیرا اور تیری اولاد کا چراغ ہمیشہ تک جلتا رہے گا۔

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

یہورام کی حکومت کے دوران ادومیوں نے بغاوت کی اور یہوداہ کی حکومت کو رد کر کے اپنا بادشاہ مقرر کیا۔

So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

تب یہورام اپنے تمام رتھوں کو لے کر صعیر کے قریب آیا۔ جب جنگ چھڑ گئی تو ادومیوں نے اُسے اور اُس کے رتھوں پر مقرر افسروں کو گھیر لیا۔ رات کو بادشاہ گھیرنے والوں کی صفوں کو توڑنے میں کامیاب ہو گیا، لیکن اُس کے فوجی اُسے چھوڑ کر اپنے اپنے گھر بھاگ گئے۔

Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

اِس وجہ سے ملکِ ادوم آج تک دوبارہ یہوداہ کی حکومت کے تحت نہیں آیا۔ اُسی وقت لِبناہ شہر بھی سرکش ہو کر خود مختار ہو گیا۔

And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

باقی جو کچھ یہورام کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا اور جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ ’شاہانِ یہوادہ کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

جب یہورام مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے خاندانی قبر میں دفنایا گیا۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا اخزیاہ تخت نشین ہوا۔

In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.

اخزیاہ بن یہورام اسرائیل کے بادشاہ یورام بن اخی اب کی حکومت کے 12ویں سال میں یہوداہ کا بادشاہ بنا۔

Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

وہ 22 سال کی عمر میں تخت نشین ہوا اور یروشلم میں رہ کر ایک سال بادشاہ رہا۔ اُس کی ماں عتلیاہ اسرائیل کے بادشاہ عُمری کی پوتی تھی۔

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

اخزیاہ بھی اخی اب کے خاندان کے بُرے نمونے پر چل پڑا۔ اخی اب کے گھرانے کی طرح اُس کا چال چلن رب کو ناپسند تھا۔ وجہ یہ تھی کہ اُس کا رشتہ اخی اب کے خاندان کے ساتھ بندھ گیا تھا۔

And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth–gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

ایک دن اخزیاہ بادشاہ یورام بن اخی اب کے ساتھ مل کر رامات جِلعاد گیا تاکہ شام کے بادشاہ حزائیل سے لڑے۔ جب جنگ چھڑ گئی تو یورام شام کے فوجیوں کے ہاتھوں زخمی ہوا

And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

اور میدانِ جنگ کو چھوڑ کر یزرعیل واپس آیا تاکہ زخم بھر جائیں۔ جب وہ وہاں ٹھہرا ہوا تھا تو یہوداہ کا بادشاہ اخزیاہ بن یہورام اُس کا حال پوچھنے کے لئے یزرعیل آیا۔
