II Kings 19

And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

یہ باتیں سن کر حِزقیاہ نے اپنے کپڑے پھاڑے اور ٹاٹ کا ماتمی لباس پہن کر رب کے گھر میں گیا۔

And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے محل کے انچارج اِلیاقیم، میرمنشی شبناہ اور اماموں کے بزرگوں کو آموص کے بیٹے یسعیاہ نبی کے پاس بھیجا۔ سب ٹاٹ کے ماتمی لباس پہنے ہوئے تھے۔

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

نبی کے پاس پہنچ کر اُنہوں نے حِزقیاہ کا پیغام سنایا، ”آج ہم بڑی مصیبت میں ہیں۔ سزا کے اِس دن اسوریوں نے ہماری سخت بےعزتی کی ہے۔ ہمارا حال دردِ زہ میں مبتلا اُس عورت کا سا ہے جس کے پیٹ سے بچہ نکلنے کو ہے، لیکن جو اِس لئے نہیں نکل سکتا کہ ماں کی طاقت جاتی رہی ہے۔

It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab–shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.

لیکن شاید رب آپ کے خدا نے ربشاقی کی وہ تمام باتیں سنی ہوں جو اُس کے آقا اسور کے بادشاہ نے زندہ خدا کی توہین میں بھیجی ہیں۔ ہو سکتا ہے رب آپ کا خدا اُس کی باتیں سن کر اُسے سزا دے۔ براہِ کرم ہمارے لئے جو اب تک بچے ہوئے ہیں دعا کریں۔“

So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

جب حِزقیاہ کے افسروں نے یسعیاہ کو بادشاہ کا پیغام پہنچایا

And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

تو نبی نے جواب دیا، ”اپنے آقا کو بتا دینا کہ رب فرماتا ہے، ’اُن دھمکیوں سے خوف مت کھا جو اسوری بادشاہ کے ملازموں نے میری اہانت کر کے دی ہیں۔

Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

دیکھ، مَیں اُس کا ارادہ بدل دوں گا۔ وہ افواہ سن کر اِتنا مضطرب ہو جائے گا کہ اپنے ہی ملک واپس چلا جائے گا۔ وہاں مَیں اُسے تلوار سے مروا دوں گا‘۔“

So Rab–shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

ربشاقی یروشلم کو چھوڑ کر اسور کے بادشاہ کے پاس واپس چلا گیا جو اُس وقت لکیس سے روانہ ہو کر لِبناہ پر چڑھائی کر رہا تھا۔

And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,

پھر سنحیرب کو اطلاع ملی، ”ایتھوپیا کا بادشاہ تِرہاقہ آپ سے لڑنے آ رہا ہے۔“ تب اُس نے اپنے قاصدوں کو دوبارہ یروشلم بھیج دیا تاکہ حِزقیاہ کو پیغام پہنچائیں،

Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

”جس دیوتا پر تم بھروسا رکھتے ہو اُس سے فریب نہ کھاؤ جب وہ کہتا ہے کہ یروشلم کبھی اسوری بادشاہ کے قبضے میں نہیں آئے گا۔

Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

تم تو سن چکے ہو کہ اسور کے بادشاہوں نے جہاں بھی گئے کیا کچھ کیا ہے۔ ہر ملک کو اُنہوں نے مکمل طور پر تباہ کر دیا ہے۔ تو پھر تم کس طرح بچ جاؤ گے؟

Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?

کیا جوزان، حاران اور رصف کے دیوتا اُن کی حفاظت کر پائے؟ کیا ملکِ عدن میں تلسّار کے باشندے بچ سکے؟ نہیں، کوئی بھی دیوتا اُن کی مدد نہ کر سکا جب میرے باپ دادا نے اُنہیں تباہ کیا۔

Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?

دھیان دو، اب حمات، ارفاد، سِفروائم شہر، ہینع اور عِوّا کے بادشاہ کہاں ہیں؟“

And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

خط ملنے پر حِزقیاہ نے اُسے پڑھ لیا اور پھر رب کے گھر کے صحن میں گیا۔ خط کو رب کے سامنے بچھا کر

And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

اُس نے رب سے دعا کی، ”اے رب اسرائیل کے خدا جو کروبی فرشتوں کے درمیان تخت نشین ہے، تُو اکیلا ہی دنیا کے تمام ممالک کا خدا ہے۔ تُو ہی نے آسمان و زمین کو خلق کیا ہے۔

LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

اے رب، میری سن! اپنی آنکھیں کھول کر دیکھ! سنحیرب کی اُن باتوں پر دھیان دے جو اُس نے اِس مقصد سے ہم تک پہنچائی ہیں کہ زندہ خدا کی اہانت کرے۔

Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,

اے رب، یہ بات سچ ہے کہ اسوری بادشاہوں نے اِن قوموں کو اُن کے ملکوں سمیت تباہ کر دیا ہے۔

And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

وہ تو اُن کے بُتوں کو آگ میں پھینک کر بھسم کر سکتے تھے، کیونکہ وہ زندہ نہیں بلکہ صرف انسان کے ہاتھوں سے بنے ہوئے لکڑی اور پتھر کے بُت تھے۔

Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

اے رب ہمارے خدا، اب مَیں تجھ سے التماس کرتا ہوں کہ ہمیں اسوری بادشاہ کے ہاتھ سے بچا تاکہ دنیا کے تمام ممالک جان لیں کہ تُو اے رب، واحد خدا ہے۔“

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

پھر یسعیاہ بن آموص نے حِزقیاہ کو پیغام بھیجا، ”رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں نے اسوری بادشاہ سنحیرب کے بارے میں تیری دعا سنی ہے۔

This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

اب رب کا اُس کے خلاف فرمان سن، کنواری صیون بیٹی تجھے حقیر جانتی ہے، ہاں یروشلم بیٹی اپنا سر ہلا ہلا کر حقارت آمیز نظر سے تیرے پیچھے دیکھتی ہے۔

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

کیا تُو نہیں جانتا کہ کس کو گالیاں دیں اور کس کی اہانت کی ہے؟ کیا تجھے نہیں معلوم کہ تُو نے کس کے خلاف آواز بلند کی ہے؟ جس کی طرف تُو غرور کی نظر سے دیکھ رہا ہے وہ اسرائیل کا قدوس ہے!

By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

اپنے قاصدوں کے ذریعے تُو نے رب کی اہانت کی ہے۔ تُو ڈینگیں مار کر کہتا ہے، ’مَیں اپنے بےشمار رتھوں سے پہاڑوں کی چوٹیوں اور لبنان کی انتہا تک چڑھ گیا ہوں۔ مَیں دیودار کے بڑے بڑے اور جونیپر کے بہترین درختوں کو کاٹ کر لبنان کے دُورترین کونوں تک، اُس کے سب سے گھنے جنگل تک پہنچ گیا ہوں۔

I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.

مَیں نے غیرملکوں میں کنوئیں کھدوا کر اُن کا پانی پی لیا ہے۔ میرے تلووں تلے مصر کی تمام ندیاں خشک ہو گئیں۔‘

Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

اے اسوری بادشاہ، کیا تُو نے نہیں سنا کہ بڑی دیر سے مَیں نے یہ سب کچھ مقرر کیا؟ قدیم زمانے میں ہی مَیں نے اِس کا منصوبہ باندھ لیا، اور اب مَیں اِسے وجود میں لایا۔ میری مرضی تھی کہ تُو قلعہ بند شہروں کو خاک میں ملا کر پتھر کے ڈھیروں میں بدل دے۔

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

اِسی لئے اُن کے باشندوں کی طاقت جاتی رہی، وہ گھبرائے اور شرمندہ ہوئے۔ وہ گھاس کی طرح کمزور تھے، چھت پر اُگنے والی اُس ہریالی کی مانند جو تھوڑی دیر کے لئے پھلتی پھولتی تو ہے، لیکن لُو چلتے وقت ایک دم مُرجھا جاتی ہے۔

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

مَیں تو تجھ سے خوب واقف ہوں۔ مجھے معلوم ہے کہ تُو کہاں ٹھہرا ہوا ہے، اور تیرا آنا جانا مجھ سے پوشیدہ نہیں رہتا۔ مجھے پتا ہے کہ تُو میرے خلاف کتنے طیش میں آ گیا ہے۔

Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

تیرا طیش اور غرور دیکھ کر مَیں تیری ناک میں نکیل اور تیرے منہ میں لگام ڈال کر تجھے اُس راستے پر سے واپس گھسیٹ لے جاؤں گا جس پر سے تُو یہاں آ پہنچا ہے۔

And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.

اے حِزقیاہ، مَیں اِس نشان سے تجھے تسلی دلاؤں گا کہ اِس سال اور آنے والے سال تم وہ کچھ کھاؤ گے جو کھیتوں میں خود بخود اُگے گا۔ لیکن تیسرے سال تم بیج بو کر فصلیں کاٹو گے اور انگور کے باغ لگا کر اُن کا پھل کھاؤ گے۔

And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

یہوداہ کے بچے ہوئے باشندے ایک بار پھر جڑ پکڑ کر پھل لائیں گے۔

For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

کیونکہ یروشلم سے قوم کا بقیہ نکل آئے گا، اور کوہِ صیون کا بچا کھچا حصہ دوبارہ ملک میں پھیل جائے گا۔ رب الافواج کی غیرت یہ کچھ سرانجام دے گی۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

جہاں تک اسوری بادشاہ کا تعلق ہے رب فرماتا ہے کہ وہ اِس شہر میں داخل نہیں ہو گا۔ وہ ایک تیر تک اُس میں نہیں چلائے گا۔ نہ وہ ڈھال لے کر اُس پر حملہ کرے گا، نہ شہر کی فصیل کے ساتھ مٹی کا ڈھیر لگائے گا۔

By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

جس راستے سے بادشاہ یہاں آیا اُسی راستے پر سے وہ اپنے ملک واپس چلا جائے گا۔ اِس شہر میں وہ گھسنے نہیں پائے گا۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

کیونکہ مَیں اپنی اور اپنے خادم داؤد کی خاطر اِس شہر کا دفاع کر کے اِسے بچاؤں گا۔“

And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

اُسی رات رب کا فرشتہ نکل آیا اور اسوری لشکرگاہ میں سے گزر کر 1,85,000 فوجیوں کو مار ڈالا۔ جب لوگ صبح سویرے اُٹھے تو چاروں طرف لاشیں ہی لاشیں نظر آئیں۔

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

یہ دیکھ کر سنحیرب اپنے خیمے اُکھاڑ کر اپنے ملک واپس چلا گیا۔ نینوہ شہر پہنچ کر وہ وہاں ٹھہر گیا۔

And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esar–haddon his son reigned in his stead.

ایک دن جب وہ اپنے دیوتا نِسروک کے مندر میں پوجا کر رہا تھا تو اُس کے بیٹوں ادرمَّلِک اور شراضر نے اُسے تلوار سے قتل کر دیا اور فرار ہو کر ملکِ اراراط میں پناہ لی۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا اسرحدون تخت نشین ہوا۔
