I Samuel 19

And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

اب ساؤل نے اپنے بیٹے یونتن اور تمام ملازموں کو صاف بتایا کہ داؤد کو ہلاک کرنا ہے۔ لیکن داؤد یونتن کو بہت پیارا تھا،

But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

اِس لئے اُس نے اُسے آگاہ کیا، ”میرا باپ آپ کو مار دینے کے مواقع ڈھونڈ رہا ہے۔ کل صبح خبردار رہیں۔ کہیں چھپ کر میرا انتظار کریں۔

And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

پھر مَیں اپنے باپ کے ساتھ شہر سے نکل کر آپ کے قریب سے گزروں گا۔ وہاں مَیں اُن سے آپ کا معاملہ چھیڑ کر معلوم کروں گا کہ وہ کیا ارادہ رکھتے ہیں۔ جو کچھ بھی وہ کہیں گے مَیں آپ کو بتا دوں گا۔“

And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

اگلی صبح جب یونتن نے اپنے باپ سے بات کی تو اُس نے داؤد کی سفارش کر کے کہا، ”بادشاہ اپنے خادم داؤد کا گناہ نہ کریں، کیونکہ اُس نے آپ کا گناہ نہیں کیا بلکہ ہمیشہ آپ کے لئے فائدہ مند رہا ہے۔

For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

اُسی نے اپنی جان کو خطرے میں ڈال کر فلستی کو مار ڈالا، اور رب نے اُس کے وسیلے سے تمام اسرائیل کو بڑی نجات بخشی۔ اُس وقت آپ خود بھی سب کچھ دیکھ کر خوش ہوئے۔ تو پھر آپ گناہ کر کے اُس جیسے بےقصور آدمی کو کیوں بلاوجہ مروانا چاہتے ہیں؟“

And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

یونتن کی باتیں سن کر ساؤل مان گیا۔ اُس نے وعدہ کیا، ”رب کی حیات کی قَسم، داؤد کو مارا نہیں جائے گا۔“

And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

بعد میں یونتن نے داؤد کو بُلا کر اُسے سب کچھ بتایا، پھر اُسے ساؤل کے پاس لایا۔ تب داؤد پہلے کی طرح بادشاہ کی خدمت کرنے لگا۔

And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.

ایک بار پھر جنگ چھڑ گئی، اور داؤد نکل کر فلستیوں سے لڑا۔ اِس دفعہ بھی اُس نے اُنہیں یوں شکست دی کہ وہ فرار ہو گئے۔

And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

لیکن ایک دن جب ساؤل اپنا نیزہ پکڑے گھر میں بیٹھا تھا تو اللہ کی بھیجی ہوئی بُری روح اُس پر غالب آئی۔ اُس وقت داؤد سرود بجا رہا تھا۔

And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

اچانک ساؤل نے نیزے کو پھینک کر داؤد کو دیوار کے ساتھ چھید ڈالنے کی کوشش کی۔ لیکن وہ ایک طرف ہٹ گیا اور نیزہ اُس کے قریب سے گزر کر دیوار میں دھنس گیا۔ داؤد بھاگ گیا اور اُس رات ساؤل کے ہاتھ سے بچ گیا۔

Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

ساؤل نے فوراً اپنے آدمیوں کو داؤد کے گھر کے پاس بھیج دیا تاکہ وہ مکان کی پہرہ داری کر کے داؤد کو صبح کے وقت قتل کر دیں۔ لیکن داؤد کی بیوی میکل نے اُس کو آگاہ کر دیا، ”آج رات کو ہی یہاں سے چلے جائیں، ورنہ آپ نہیں بچیں گے بلکہ کل صبح ہی مار دیئے جائیں گے۔“

So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

چنانچہ داؤد گھر کی کھڑکی میں سے نکلا، اور میکل نے اُترنے میں اُس کی مدد کی۔ تب داؤد بھاگ کر بچ گیا۔

And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.

میکل نے داؤد کی چارپائی پر بُت رکھ کر اُس کے سر پر بکریوں کے بال لگا دیئے اور باقی حصے پر کمبل بچھا دیا۔

And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

جب ساؤل کے آدمی داؤد کو پکڑنے کے لئے آئے تو میکل نے کہا، ”وہ بیمار ہے۔“

And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

فوجیوں نے ساؤل کو اطلاع دی تو اُس نے اُنہیں حکم دیا، ”اُسے چارپائی سمیت ہی میرے پاس لے آؤ تاکہ اُسے مار دوں۔“

And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

جب وہ داؤد کو لے جانے کے لئے آئے تو کیا دیکھتے ہیں کہ اُس کی چارپائی پر بُت پڑا ہے جس کے سر پر بکریوں کے بال لگے ہیں۔

And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

ساؤل نے اپنی بیٹی کو بہت جھڑکا، ”تُو نے مجھے اِس طرح دھوکا دے کر میرے دشمن کی فرار ہونے میں مدد کیوں کی؟ تیری ہی وجہ سے وہ بچ گیا۔“ میکل نے جواب دیا، ”اُس نے مجھے دھمکی دی کہ مَیں تجھے قتل کر دوں گا اگر تُو فرار ہونے میں میری مدد نہ کرے۔“

So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

اِس طرح داؤد بچ نکلا۔ وہ رامہ میں سموایل کے پاس فرار ہوا اور اُسے سب کچھ سنایا جو ساؤل نے اُس کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔ پھر دونوں مل کر نیوت چلے گئے۔ وہاں وہ ٹھہرے۔

And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.

ساؤل کو اطلاع دی گئی، ”داؤد رامہ کے نیوت میں ٹھہرا ہوا ہے۔“

And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

اُس نے فوراً اپنے آدمیوں کو اُسے پکڑنے کے لئے بھیج دیا۔ جب وہ پہنچے تو دیکھا کہ نبیوں کا پورا گروہ وہاں نبوّت کر رہا ہے، اور سموایل خود اُن کی راہنمائی کر رہا ہے۔ اُنہیں دیکھتے ہی اللہ کا روح ساؤل کے آدمیوں پر نازل ہوا، اور وہ بھی نبوّت کرنے لگے۔

And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.

ساؤل کو اِس بات کی خبر ملی تو اُس نے مزید آدمیوں کو رامہ بھیج دیا۔ لیکن وہ بھی وہاں پہنچتے ہی نبوّت کرنے لگے۔ ساؤل نے تیسری بار آدمیوں کو بھیج دیا، لیکن یہی کچھ اُن کے ساتھ بھی ہوا۔

Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

آخر میں ساؤل خود رامہ کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔ چلتے چلتے وہ سیکو کے بڑے حوض پر پہنچا۔ وہاں اُس نے لوگوں سے پوچھا، ”داؤد اور سموایل کہاں ہیں؟“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”رامہ کی آبادی نیوت میں۔“

And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

ساؤل ابھی نیوت نہیں پہنچا تھا کہ اللہ کا روح اُس پر بھی نازل ہوا، اور وہ نبوّت کرتے کرتے نیوت پہنچ گیا۔

And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

وہاں وہ اپنے کپڑوں کو اُتار کر سموایل کے سامنے نبوّت کرتا رہا۔ نبوّت کرتے کرتے وہ زمین پر لیٹ گیا اور وہاں پورے دن اور پوری رات پڑا رہا۔ اِسی وجہ سے یہ قول مشہور ہوا، ”کیا ساؤل کو بھی نبیوں میں شمار کیا جاتا ہے؟“
