I Kings 9

And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

چنانچہ سلیمان نے رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کو تکمیل تک پہنچایا۔ جو کچھ بھی اُس نے ٹھان لیا تھا وہ پورا ہوا۔

That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

اُس وقت رب دوبارہ اُس پر ظاہر ہوا، اُس طرح جس طرح وہ جِبعون میں اُس پر ظاہر ہوا تھا۔

And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

اُس نے سلیمان سے کہا، ”جو دعا اور التجا تُو نے میرے حضور کی اُسے مَیں نے سن کر اِس عمارت کو جو تُو نے بنائی ہے اپنے لئے مخصوص و مُقدّس کر لیا ہے۔ اُس میں مَیں اپنا نام ابد تک قائم رکھوں گا۔ میری آنکھیں اور دل ابد تک وہاں حاضر رہیں گے۔

And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

جہاں تک تیرا تعلق ہے، اپنے باپ داؤد کی طرح دیانت داری اور راستی سے میرے حضور چلتا رہ۔ کیونکہ اگر تُو میرے تمام احکام اور ہدایات کی پیروی کرتا رہے

Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

تو مَیں تیری اسرائیل پر حکومت ہمیشہ تک قائم رکھوں گا۔ پھر میرا وہ وعدہ قائم رہے گا جو مَیں نے تیرے باپ داؤد سے کیا تھا کہ اسرائیل پر تیری اولاد کی حکومت ہمیشہ تک قائم رہے گی۔

But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

لیکن خبردار! اگر تُو یا تیری اولاد مجھ سے دُور ہو کر میرے دیئے گئے احکام اور ہدایات کے تابع نہ رہے بلکہ دیگر معبودوں کی طرف رجوع کر کے اُن کی خدمت اور پرستش کرے

Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

تو مَیں اسرائیل کو اُس ملک میں سے مٹا دوں گا جو مَیں نے اُن کو دے دیا تھا۔ نہ صرف یہ بلکہ مَیں اِس گھر کو بھی رد کر دوں گا جو مَیں نے اپنے نام کے لئے مخصوص و مُقدّس کر لیا ہے۔ اُس وقت اسرائیل تمام اقوام میں مذاق اور لعن طعن کا نشانہ بن جائے گا۔

And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

اِس شاندار گھر کی بُری حالت دیکھ کر یہاں سے گزرنے والے تمام لوگوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں گے، اور وہ اپنی حقارت کا اظہار کر کے پوچھیں گے، ’رب نے اِس ملک اور اِس گھر سے ایسا سلوک کیوں کیا؟‘

And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

تب لوگ جواب دیں گے، ’اِس لئے کہ گو رب اُن کا خدا اُن کے باپ دادا کو مصر سے نکال کر یہاں لایا توبھی یہ لوگ اُسے ترک کر کے دیگر معبودوں سے چمٹ گئے ہیں۔ چونکہ وہ اُن کی پرستش اور خدمت کرنے سے باز نہ آئے اِس لئے رب نے اُنہیں اِس ساری مصیبت میں ڈال دیا ہے‘۔“

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king's house,

رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کو تعمیر کرنے میں 20 سال صَرف ہوئے تھے۔

(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

اُس دوران صور کا بادشاہ حیرام سلیمان کو دیودار اور جونیپر کی اُتنی لکڑی اور اُتنا سونا بھیجتا رہا جتنا سلیمان چاہتا تھا۔ جب عمارتیں تکمیل تک پہنچ گئیں تو سلیمان نے حیرام کو معاوضے میں گلیل کے 20 شہر دے دیئے۔

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

لیکن جب حیرام اُن کا معائنہ کرنے کے لئے صور سے گلیل آیا تو وہ اُسے پسند نہ آئے۔

And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

اُس نے سوال کیا، ”میرے بھائی، یہ کیسے شہر ہیں جو آپ نے مجھے دیئے ہیں؟“ اور اُس نے اُس علاقے کا نام کابول یعنی ’کچھ بھی نہیں‘ رکھا۔ یہ نام آج تک رائج ہے۔

And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

بات یہ تھی کہ حیرام نے اسرائیل کے بادشاہ کو تقریباً 4,000 کلو گرام سونا بھیجا تھا۔

And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

سلیمان نے اپنے تعمیری کام کے لئے بیگاری لگائے۔ ایسے ہی لوگوں کی مدد سے اُس نے نہ صرف رب کا گھر، اپنا محل، ارد گرد کے چبوترے اور یروشلم کی فصیل بنوائی بلکہ تینوں شہر حصور، مجِدّو اور جزر کو بھی۔

For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon's wife.

جزر شہر پر مصر کے بادشاہ فرعون نے حملہ کر کے قبضہ کر لیا تھا۔ اُس کے کنعانی باشندوں کو قتل کر کے اُس نے پورے شہر کو جلا دیا تھا۔ جب سلیمان کی فرعون کی بیٹی سے شادی ہوئی تو مصری بادشاہ نے جہیزکے طور پر اُسے یہ علاقہ دے دیا۔

And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth–horon the nether,

اب سلیمان نے جزر کا شہر دوبارہ تعمیر کیا۔ اِس کے علاوہ اُس نے نشیبی بیت حَورون،

And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

بعلات اور ریگستان کے شہر تدمور میں بہت سا تعمیری کام کرایا۔

And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

سلیمان نے اپنے گوداموں کے لئے اور اپنے رتھوں اور گھوڑوں کو رکھنے کے لئے بھی شہر بنوائے۔ جو کچھ بھی وہ یروشلم، لبنان یا اپنی سلطنت کی کسی اَور جگہ بنوانا چاہتا تھا وہ اُس نے بنوایا۔

And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

جن آدمیوں کی سلیمان نے بیگار پر بھرتی کی وہ اسرائیلی نہیں تھے بلکہ اموری، حِتّی، فرِزّی، حِوّی اور یبوسی یعنی کنعان کے پہلے باشندوں کی وہ اولاد تھے جو باقی رہ گئے تھے۔ ملک پر قبضہ کرتے وقت اسرائیلی اِن قوموں کو پورے طور پر مٹا نہ سکے، اور آج تک اِن کی اولاد کو اسرائیل کے لئے بےگار میں کام کرنا پڑتا ہے۔

Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

جن آدمیوں کی سلیمان نے بیگار پر بھرتی کی وہ اسرائیلی نہیں تھے بلکہ اموری، حِتّی، فرِزّی، حِوّی اور یبوسی یعنی کنعان کے پہلے باشندوں کی وہ اولاد تھے جو باقی رہ گئے تھے۔ ملک پر قبضہ کرتے وقت اسرائیلی اِن قوموں کو پورے طور پر مٹا نہ سکے، اور آج تک اِن کی اولاد کو اسرائیل کے لئے بےگار میں کام کرنا پڑتا ہے۔

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.

لیکن سلیمان نے اسرائیلیوں میں سے کسی کو بھی ایسے کام کرنے پر مجبور نہ کیا بلکہ وہ اُس کے فوجی، سرکاری افسر، فوج کے افسر اور رتھوں کے فوجی بن گئے، اور اُنہیں اُس کے رتھوں اور گھوڑوں پر مقرر کیا گیا۔

These were the chief of the officers that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

سلیمان کے تعمیری کام پر بھی 550 اسرائیلی مقرر تھے جو ضلعوں پر مقرر افسروں کے تابع تھے۔ یہ لوگ تعمیری کام کرنے والوں کی نگرانی کرتے تھے۔

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

جب فرعون کی بیٹی یروشلم کے پرانے حصے بنام ’داؤد کا شہر‘ سے اُس محل میں منتقل ہوئی جو سلیمان نے اُس کے لئے تعمیر کیا تھا تو وہ ارد گرد کے چبوترے بنوانے لگا۔

And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house.

سلیمان سال میں تین بار رب کو بھسم ہونے والی اور سلامتی کی قربانیاں پیش کرتا تھا۔ وہ اُنہیں رب کے گھر کی اُس قربان گاہ پر چڑھاتا تھا جو اُس نے رب کے لئے بنوائی تھی۔ ساتھ ساتھ وہ بخور بھی جلاتا تھا۔ یوں اُس نے رب کے گھر کو تکمیل تک پہنچایا۔

And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion–geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.

اِس کے علاوہ سلیمان بادشاہ نے بحری جہازوں کا بیڑا بھی بنوایا۔ اِس کام کا مرکز ایلات کے قریب شہر عصیون جابر تھا۔ یہ بندرگاہ ملکِ ادوم میں بحرِ قُلزم کے ساحل پر ہے۔

And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

حیرام بادشاہ نے اُسے تجربہ کار ملاح بھیجے تاکہ وہ سلیمان کے آدمیوں کے ساتھ مل کر جہازوں کو چلائیں۔

And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

اُنہوں نے اوفیر تک سفر کیا اور وہاں سے تقریباً 14,000 کلو گرام سونا سلیمان کے پاس لے آئے۔
