I Chronicles 10

Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

جِلبوعہ کے پہاڑی سلسلے پر فلستیوں اور اسرائیلیوں کے درمیان جنگ چھڑ گئی۔ لڑتے لڑتے اسرائیلی فرار ہونے لگے، لیکن بہت لوگ وہیں شہید ہو گئے۔

And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi–shua, the sons of Saul.

پھر فلستی ساؤل اور اُس کے بیٹوں یونتن، ابی نداب اور ملکی شوع کے پاس جا پہنچے۔ تینوں بیٹے ہلاک ہو گئے،

And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.

جبکہ لڑائی ساؤل کے ارد گرد عروج تک پہنچ گئی۔ پھر وہ تیراندازوں کا نشانہ بن کر زخمی ہو گیا۔

Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

اُس نے اپنے سلاح بردار کو حکم دیا، ”اپنی تلوار میان سے کھینچ کر مجھے مار ڈال! ورنہ یہ نامختون مجھے بےعزت کریں گے۔“ لیکن سلاح بردار نے انکار کیا، کیونکہ وہ بہت ڈرا ہوا تھا۔ آخر میں ساؤل اپنی تلوار لے کر خود اُس پر گر گیا۔

And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.

جب سلاح بردار نے دیکھا کہ میرا مالک مر گیا ہے تو وہ بھی اپنی تلوار پر گر کر مر گیا۔

So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

یوں اُس دن ساؤل، اُس کے تین بیٹے اور اُس کا تمام گھرانا ہلاک ہو گئے۔

And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

جب میدانِ یزرعیل کے اسرائیلیوں کو خبر ملی کہ اسرائیلی فوج بھاگ گئی اور ساؤل اپنے بیٹوں سمیت مارا گیا ہے تو وہ اپنے شہروں کو چھوڑ کر بھاگ نکلے، اور فلستی چھوڑے ہوئے شہروں پر قبضہ کر کے اُن میں بسنے لگے۔

And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

اگلے دن فلستی لاشوں کو لُوٹنے کے لئے دوبارہ میدانِ جنگ میں آ گئے۔ جب اُنہیں جِلبوعہ کے پہاڑی سلسلے پر ساؤل اور اُس کے تینوں بیٹے مُردہ ملے

And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.

تو اُنہوں نے ساؤل کا سر کاٹ کر اُس کا زرہ بکتر اُتار لیا اور قاصدوں کو اپنے پورے ملک میں بھیج کر اپنے بُتوں اور اپنی قوم کو فتح کی اطلاع دی۔

And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.

ساؤل کا زرہ بکتر اُنہوں نے اپنے دیوتاؤں کے مندر میں محفوظ کر لیا اور اُس کے سر کو دجون دیوتا کے مندر میں لٹکا دیا۔

And when all Jabesh–gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

جب یبیس جِلعاد کے باشندوں کو خبر ملی کہ فلستیوں نے ساؤل کی لاش کے ساتھ کیا کچھ کیا ہے

They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

تو شہر کے تمام لڑنے کے قابل آدمی بیت شان کے لئے روانہ ہوئے۔ وہاں پہنچ کر وہ ساؤل اور اُس کے بیٹوں کی لاشوں کو اُتار کر یبیس لے گئے جہاں اُنہوں نے اُن کی ہڈیوں کو یبیس کے بڑے درخت کے سائے میں دفنایا۔ اُنہوں نے روزہ رکھ کر پورے ہفتے تک اُن کا ماتم کیا۔

So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

ساؤل کو اِس لئے مارا گیا کہ وہ رب کا وفادار نہ رہا۔ اُس نے اُس کی ہدایات پر عمل نہ کیا، یہاں تک کہ اُس نے مُردوں کی روح سے رابطہ کرنے والی جادوگرنی سے مشورہ کیا،

And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

حالانکہ اُسے رب سے دریافت کرنا چاہئے تھا۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ رب نے اُسے سزائے موت دے کر سلطنت کو داؤد بن یسّی کے حوالے کر دیا۔
