I Samuel 10

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

Τοτε ελαβεν ο Σαμουηλ την φιαλην του ελαιου, και εχυσεν επι την κεφαλην αυτου, και εφιλησεν αυτον και ειπε, Δεν σε εχρισε Κυριος αρχοντα επι της κληρονομιας αυτου;

When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

Αφου αναχωρησης απ εμου σημερον, θελεις ευρει δυο ανθρωπους πλησιον του ταφου της Ραχηλ, κατα το οριον του Βενιαμιν εν Σελσα και θελουσιν ειπει προς σε, Ευρεθησαν αι ονοι, τας οποιας υπηγες να ζητησης και ιδου, ο πατηρ σου, αφησας την φροντιδα των ονων, υπερλυπειται δια σας, λεγων, Τι να καμω περι του υιου μου;

Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Beth–el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:

Και προχωρησας εκειθεν, θελεις ελθει εως της δρυος του Θαβωρ, και εκει θελουσι σε ευρει τρεις ανθρωποι αναβαινοντες προς τον Θεον εις Βαιθηλ, ο εις φερων τρια εριφια, και ο αλλος φερων τρεις αρτους, και ο αλλος φερων ασκον οινου

And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.

και θελουσι σε χαιρετησει και σοι δωσει δυο αρτους, τους οποιους θελεις δεχθη εκ των χειρων αυτων.

After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:

Μετα ταυτα θελεις υπαγει εις το βουνον του Θεου, οπου ειναι η φρουρα των Φιλισταιων και οταν υπαγης εκει εις την πολιν, θελεις απαντησει αθροισμα προφητων καταβαινοντων απο του υψηλου τοπου εν ψαλτηριω και τυμπανω και αυλω και κιθαρα εμπροσθεν αυτων, και προφητευοντων.

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

Και θελει επελθει επι σε πνευμα Κυριου, και θελεις προφητευσει μετ αυτων και θελεις μεταβληθη εις αλλον ανθρωπον.

And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.

Και οταν τα σημεια ταυτα ελθωσιν επι σε, καμνε ο, τι δυνασαι διοτι ο Θεος ειναι μετα σου.

And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.

Και θελεις καταβη προ εμου εις Γαλγαλα και ιδου, εγω θελω καταβη προς σε, δια να προσφερω ολοκαυτωματα, να θυσιασω θυσιας ειρηνικας προσμενε επτα ημερας, εωσου ελθω προς σε και σοι αναγγειλω τι εχεις να καμης.

And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

Και οτε εστρεψε τα νωτα αυτου δια να αναχωρηση απο του Σαμουηλ, ο Θεος εδωκεν εις αυτον αλλην καρδιαν και ηλθον παντα εκεινα τα σημεια εν τη ημερα εκεινη.

And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

Και οτε ηλθον εκει εις το βουνον, ιδου, αθροισμα προφητων συνηντησεν αυτον και επηλθεν επ αυτον Πνευμα Θεου, και επροφητευσε μεταξυ αυτων.

And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

Και ως ειδον οι γνωριζοντες αυτον προτερον, και ιδου, προεφητευε μετα των προφητων, τοτε ελεγεν ο λαος, εκαστος προς τον πλησιον αυτου, Τι ειναι τουτο, το οποιον εγεινεν εις τον υιον του Κεις; και Σαουλ εν προφηταις;

And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

Εις δε εκ των εκει απεκριθη και ειπεν, Και τις ειναι ο πατηρ αυτων; Δια τουτο εγεινε παροιμια, Και Σαουλ εν προφηταις;

And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

Και αφου ετελειωσε προφητευων, ηλθεν εις τον υψηλον τοπον.

And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

Και ειπεν ο θειος του Σαουλ προς αυτον και προς τον υπηρετην αυτου, Που υπηγετε; Και ειπε, να ζητησωμεν τας ονους. και οτε ειδομεν οτι δεν ησαν, ηλθομεν προς τον Σαμουηλ.

And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.

Και ειπεν ο θειος του Σαουλ, Αναγγειλον μοι, σε παρακαλω, τι σας ειπεν ο Σαμουηλ.

And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.

Και ειπεν ο Σαουλ προς τον θειον αυτου, Μας ειπε μετα βεβαιοτητος οτι ευρεθησαν αι ονοι τον λογον ομως περι της βασιλειας, τον οποιον ο Σαμουηλ ειπε, δεν εφανερωσεν εις αυτον.

And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;

Και συνηγαγεν ο Σαμουηλ τον λαον προς τον Κυριον εις Μισπα

And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:

και ειπε προς τους υιους Ισραηλ, Ουτω λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος του Ισραηλ Εγω ανεβιβασα τον Ισραηλ εξ Αιγυπτου, και σας ηλευθερωσα εκ χειρος των Αιγυπτιων και εκ χειρος πασων των βασιλειων, αιτινες σας κατεθλιβον

And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

και σεις την ημεραν ταυτην απεβαλετε τον Θεον σας, οστις σας εσωσεν απο παντων των κακων σας και των θλιψεων σας, και ειπετε προς αυτον, Ουχι, αλλα καταστησον βασιλεα εφ ημας. Τωρα λοιπον παρουσιασθητε ενωπιον του Κυριου, κατα τας φυλας σας και κατα τας χιλιαδας σας.

And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

Και οτε εκαμεν ο Σαμουηλ πασας τας φυλας του Ισραηλ να πλησιασωσιν, επιασθη η φυλη του Βενιαμιν.

When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.

Και αφου εκαμε την φυλην του Βενιαμιν να πλησιαση κατα τας οικογενειας αυτων, επιασθη η οικογενεια του Ματρει, και επιασθη ο Σαουλ ο υιος του Κεις εζητησαν δε αυτον και δεν ευρεθη.

Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.

Οθεν εζητησαν ετι παρα του Κυριου, αν ο ανθρωπος ερχηται ετι εκει. Και ειπε Κυριος, Ιδου, αυτος ειναι κεκρυμμενος μεταξυ της αποσκευης.

And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

Τοτε εδραμον και ελαβον αυτον εκειθεν και οτε εσταθη μεταξυ του λαου, εξειχεν υπερ παντα τον λαον, απο τους ωμους αυτου και επανω.

And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.

Και ειπεν ο Σαμουηλ προς παντα τον λαον, Βλεπετε εκεινον, τον οποιον εξελεξεν ο Κυριος, οτι δεν ειναι ομοιος αυτου μεταξυ παντος του λαου; Και πας ο λαος ηλαλαξε και ειπε, Ζητω ο βασιλευς.

Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.

Και ειπεν ο Σαμουηλ προς τον λαον τον τροπον της βασιλειας, και εγραψεν αυτον εν βιβλιω και εθεσεν εμπροσθεν του Κυριου. Και απελυσεν ο Σαμουηλ παντα τον λαον, εκαστον εις τον οικον αυτου.

And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

Και ο Σαουλ ομοιως ανεχωρησεν εις τον οικον αυτου εις Γαβαα και υπηγε μετ αυτου εκει ταγμα πολεμιστων, των οποιων τας καρδιας ειχε διαθεσει ο Θεος.

But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

Ανθρωποι ομως κακοι ειπον, Πως θελει σωσει ημας ουτος; Και κατεφρονησαν αυτον και δεν προσεφεραν προς αυτον δωρα εκεινος ομως εκαμνε τον κωφον.
