Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Och Salomo begynte att bygga HERRENS hus i Jerusalem, på berget Moria, där hans fader David hade fått sin uppenbarelse, och där han nu själv hade berett rum, på det ställe som David hade utsett, nämligen på jebuséen Ornans tröskplats.2 Sam. 24,18, 25. 1 Krön. 21,18, 26.

And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

Han begynte att bygga på andra dagen i andra månaden, i sitt fjärde regeringsår.1 Kon. 6,1 f.

Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

När Salomo då skulle bygga Guds hus, lade han grunden så, att det blev sextio alnar långt och tjugu alnar brett, efter det gamla alnmåttet.

And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

Förhuset, som låg framför långhuset, framför husets kortsida, mätte tjugu alnar, och dess höjd var ett hundra tjugu, och han överdrog det innantill med rent guld.

And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.

Huvudbyggnaden beklädde han med cypressträ, detta åter beklädde han med bästa guld, och prydde det med palmer och kedjeverk.

And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

Därjämte smyckade han huset med dyrbara stenar. Men guldet var från Parvaim.

He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.

Och han beklädde huset, bjälkarna, trösklarna, ävensom väggarna och dörrarna däri med guld, och lät inrista keruber på väggarna.

And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

Vidare tillredde han det rum som skulle vara det allraheligaste; det låg utefter husets kortsida och var tjugu alnar långt och tjugu alnar brett. Och han beklädde det med bästa guld, sex hundra talenter i vikt.

And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

Och spikarna däri vägde femtio siklar i guld. De övre salarna beklädde han ock med guld.

And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.

Och till det rum som var det allraheligaste gjorde han två keruber, i bildhuggeriarbete, och man överdrog dem med guld.

And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

Längden på kerubernas vingar tillsammans var tjugu alnar. Den enas ena vinge, fem alnar lång, rörde vid husets ena vägg, och hans andra vinge, fem alnar lång, rörde vid den andra kerubens vinge.

And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.

Och den andra kerubens ena vinge, fem alnar lång, rörde vid husets andra vägg, och hans andra vinge, fem alnar lång, nådde intill den första kerubens vinge.

The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.

Alltså bredde dessa keruber ut sina vingar tjugu alnar vitt, under det att de stodo på sina fötter, med ansiktena vända inåt.2 Mos. 25,20.

And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims thereon.

Och han gjorde förlåten av mörkblått, purpurrött, karmosinrött och vitt garn och prydde den med keruber.2 Mos. 26,30 f.

Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.

Och han gjorde två pelare till att stå framför huset, trettiofem alnar höga; och huvudet som satt ovanpå var och en av dem var fem alnar.1 Kon. 7,15 f. 2 Kon. 25,17. Jer. 52,21 f.

And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.

Och han gjorde kedjor till koret och satte ock sådana upptill på pelarna. Och vidare gjorde han hundra granatäpplen och satte dem på kedjorna.

And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

Och pelarna ställde han upp framför tempelsalen, den ena på högra sidan och den andra på vänstra; åt den högra gav han namnet Jakin och åt den vänstra namnet Boas.
