Jonah 2

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

Iona s'a rugat Domnului, Dumnezeului său, din pîntecele peştelui,

And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

şi a zis: ,,În strîmtorarea mea, am chemat pe Domnul, şi m'a ascultat; din mijlocul locuinţei morţilor am strigat, şi mi-ai auzit glasul.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

Şi totuş mă aruncasei în adînc, în inima mării, şi rîurile de apă mă înconjuraseră; toate valurile şi toate talazurile Tale au trecut peste mine.

Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

Ziceam: ,,Sînt lepădat dinaintea ochilor Tăi! Dar iarăş voi vedea Templul Tău cel sfînt``.

The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

Apele m'au acoperit pînă aproape să-mi ia viaţa, adîncul m'a învăluit, papura s'a împletit în jurul capului meu.

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

M'am pogorît pînă la temeliile munţilor, zăvoarele pămîntului mă încuiau pe vecie; dar Tu m'ai scos viu din groapă, Doamne, Dumnezeul meu!

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

Cînd îmi tînjea sufletul în mine, mi-am adus aminte de Domnul, şi rugăciunea mea a ajuns pînă la Tine, în Templul Tău ce sfînt.

They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Ceice se lipesc de idoli deşerţi îndepărtează îndurarea dela ei.

But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

Eu însă Îţi voi aduce jertfe cu un strigăt de mulţămire, voi împlini juruinţele pe cari le-am făcut. Mîntuirea vine dela Domnul.``

And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Domnul a vorbit peştelui, şi peştele a vărsat pe Iona pe pămînt.
