Titus 2

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

Ma tu esponi le cose che si convengono alla sana dottrina:

That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Che i vecchi siano sobri, gravi, assennati, sani nella fede, nell’amore, nella pazienza:

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

che le donne attempate abbiano parimente un portamento convenevole a santità, non siano maldicenti né dedite a molto vino, siano maestre di ciò che è buono;

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

onde insegnino alle giovani ad amare i mariti, ad amare i figliuoli,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

ad esser assennate, caste, date ai lavori domestici, buone, soggette ai loro mariti, affinché la Parola di Dio non sia bestemmiata.

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Esorta parimente i giovani ad essere assennati,

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

dando te stesso in ogni cosa come esempio di opere buone; mostrando nell’insegnamento purità incorrotta, gravità,

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

parlar sano, irreprensibile, onde l’avversario resti confuso, non avendo nulla di male da dire di noi.

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

Esorta i servi ad esser sottomessi ai loro padroni, a compiacerli in ogni cosa, a non contradirli,

Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

a non frodarli, ma a mostrar sempre lealtà perfetta, onde onorino la dottrina di Dio, nostro Salvatore, in ogni cosa.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Poiché la grazia di Dio, salutare per tutti gli uomini, è apparsa

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

e ci ammaestra a rinunziare all’empietà e alle mondane concupiscenze, per vivere in questo mondo temperatamente, giustamente e piamente,

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

aspettando la beata speranza e l’apparizione della gloria del nostro grande Iddio e Salvatore, Cristo Gesù;

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

il quale ha dato se stesso per noi al fine di riscattarci da ogni iniquità e di purificarsi un popolo suo proprio, zelante nelle opere buone.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Insegna queste cose, ed esorta e riprendi con ogni autorità. Niuno ti sprezzi.
