I Samuel 31

Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

А филистимците се биха срещу Израил и израилевите мъже побягнаха отпред филистимците и паднаха убити на хълма Гелвуе.

And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi–shua, Saul's sons.

И филистимците настигнаха Саул и синовете му; и филистимците убиха Йонатан, Авинадав и Мелхисуя, синовете на Саул.

And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.

И битката срещу Саул се засилваше и стрелците и мъжете с лъкове го улучиха, и той беше тежко ранен от стрелците.

Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

Тогава Саул каза на оръженосеца си: Изтегли меча си и ме прободи с него, за да не дойдат тези необрязани и да ме прободат, и да се гаврят с мен! Но оръженосецът му не искаше, защото много се страхуваше. Тогава Саул взе меча и се хвърли върху него.

And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.

И когато оръженосецът му видя, че Саул беше мъртъв, той също се хвърли върху меча си и умря с него.

So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

Така умряха Саул и тримата му сина, и оръженосецът му, и всичките му мъже в същия онзи ден.

And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

А когато израилевите мъже, които бяха оттатък долината и оттатък Йордан, видяха, че израилевите мъже бяха побягнали и че Саул и синовете му бяха мъртви, те напуснаха градовете и избягаха. И филистимците дойдоха и се заселиха в тях.

And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

А на следващия ден филистимците дойдоха да съблекат убитите и намериха Саул и тримата му сина паднали на хълма Гелвуе.

And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.

И отсякоха главата му и свалиха оръжията му, и разпратиха по цялата филистимска земя да разгласят вестта в капището на идолите си и между народа.

And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth–shan.

И сложиха оръжията му в храма на Астарта, а тялото му окачиха на стената на Ветсан.

And when the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;

А когато жителите на Явис-Галаад чуха какво бяха направили филистимците със Саул,

All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth–shan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

всичките храбри мъже станаха и вървяха цялата нощ, и взеха тялото на Саул и телата на синовете му от стената на Ветсан, и дойдоха в Явис, и ги изгориха там.

And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

После взеха костите им и ги погребаха под вечнозеленото дърво в Явис, и постиха седем дни.
