Wie schön sind deine Tritte in den Schuhen, Fürstentochter! Die Biegungen deiner Hüften sind wie ein Halsgeschmeide, ein Werk von Künstlerhand.

How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman.

Dein Nabel ist eine runde Schale, in welcher der Mischwein nicht mangelt; dein Leib ein Weizenhaufen, umzäunt mit Lilien.

Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies.

Deine beiden Brüste sind wie ein Zwillingspaar junger Gazellen.

Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins.

Dein Hals ist wie ein Turm von Elfenbein deine Augen wie die Teiche zu Hesbon am Tore der volkreichen Stadt; deine Nase wie der Libanonturm, der nach Damaskus hinschaut.

Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bath–rabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.

Dein Haupt auf dir ist wie der Karmel, und das herabwallende Haar deines Hauptes wie Purpur: ein König ist gefesselt durch deine Locken!

Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries.

Wie schön bist du, und wie lieblich bist du, o Liebe, unter den Wonnen!

How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!

Dieser dein Wuchs gleicht der Palme, und deine Brüste den Trauben.

This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.

Ich sprach: Ich will die Palme ersteigen, will ihre Zweige erfassen; und deine Brüste sollen mir sein wie Trauben des Weinstocks, und der Duft deiner Nase wie Äpfel,

I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;

und dein Gaumen wie der beste Wein,… der meinem Geliebten sanft hinuntergleitet, der über die Lippen der Schlummernden schleicht

And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.

Ich bin meines Geliebten und nach mir ist sein Verlangen.

I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.

Komm, mein Geliebter, laß uns aufs Feld hinausgehen, in den Dörfern übernachten.

Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages.

Wir wollen uns früh aufmachen nach den Weinbergen, wollen sehen, ob der Weinstock ausgeschlagen ist, die Weinblüte sich geöffnet hat, ob die Granaten blühen; dort will ich dir meine Liebe geben.

Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.

Die Liebesäpfel duften, und über unseren Türen sind allerlei edle Früchte, neue und alte, die ich, mein Geliebter, dir aufbewahrt habe.

The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.
