Isaiah 23

این پیامی است دربارهٔ صور. ای دریانوردانی که در اقیانوس هستید، از غم فریاد بزنید، چون صور، بندرگاه کشور شما ویران، و خانه‌ها و لنگرگاه آن خراب شده‌اند. وقتی که کشتیهای شما از قبرس بازگردند، این خبر را به شما خواهند داد.

The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

ای بازرگانان صیدون شیون کنید! شما کسانی را

Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.

به آن طرف دریا فرستادید تا غلاّتی را که در مصر می‌روید بخرند و بفروشند، و با تمام ملّتها داد و ستد کنند.

And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a mart of nations.

ای شهر صیدون، تو دیگر آبرویی نداری! دریا و اعماق اقیانوس بزرگ، تو را دیگر از خودش نمی‌داند و می‌گوید: «من هرگز فرزندی نداشتم، و هیچ‌وقت پسر و دختری بزرگ نکردم.»

Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.

حتّی مردمان مصر هم وقتی بشنوند که صور ویران شده است، متحیّر و متعجّب خواهند شد.

As at the report concerning Egypt, so shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.

ای مردم فنیقیه از غم فریاد بزنید! بکوشید تا به اسپانیا فرار کنید!

Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.

آیا این همان شهر شاد صور است که در زمان قدیم بنا شد؟ آیا این همان شهری است که مهاجرانی به آن‌سوی دریا می‌فرستاد تا مستعمرات تازه‌ای ایجاد کنند؟

Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn.

چه کسی چنین سرنوشتی را برای صور -‌پایتخت کشور- شهری که بارزگانانش همه شاهزادگان و نُجبا و مورد احترام جهانیان بودند، مُقدّر کرده است؟

Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?

خداوند متعال طرّاح آن بود. او این کار را کرد تا به غرور آنها، برای آنچه که کرده بودند، پایان دهد و نُجبای آنها را حقیر سازد.

The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.

ای کسانی‌که در اسپانیا ساکن شده‌اید، بروید و به زراعت زمین بپردازید. دیگر کسی نیست که از شما حمایت کند.

Pass through thy land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: there is no more strength.

خداوند دست خود را بر فراز دریا دراز کرده و حکومتها را سرنگون می‌کند. او دستور داده تا مراکز بازرگانی فنیقیه، تماماً از بین بروند.

He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.

ای شهر صیدون، شادی و خوشی تو به پایان رسیده و مردمانت در رنج و ستم هستند. حتّی اگر آنها به قبرس بگریزند، در آنجا نیز در امان نخواهند بود.

And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest.

(بابلی‌ها، حیوانات وحشی را در صور رها کردند تا آن شهر را زیر و رو کنند، نه آشوری‌‌ها. بابلی‌ها بودند که بُرجهایی برای محاصرهٔ صور به پا کردند و تمام استحکامات شهر را درهم کوبیدند و آن را به صورت ویرانه‌ای در آوردند.)

Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.

ای دریانوردانی که در اقیانوس هستید، با غم بنالید! شهری که به آن متّکی بودید، ویران شده است.

Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste.

زمانی می‌آید که صور برای هفتاد سال -‌یعنی برابر زندگی یک پادشاه- فراموش خواهد شد. وقتی آن سالها به پایان برسد، صور مانند روسپی در این سرود خواهد بود:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.

ای فاحشهٔ فراموش شده، چنگی بردار و دور شهر بگرد! باز آهنگی بزن و آوازی بخوان، تا مردها یکبار دیگر جمع شوند.

Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.

بعد از گذشت هفتاد سال، خداوند اجازه خواهد داد تا صور به کار گذشتهٔ خود بر گردد و او در مقابل مُزد، خود را در اختیار تمام حکومتهای جهان قرار خواهد داد

And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.

ولی پولی که از این راه به دست می‌آورد وقف خداوند خواهد شد. او آن را ذخیره نخواهد کرد، بلکه آنها که خدا را می‌پرستند، از آن پول برای محتاجان، غذای زیاد و لباس خوب خواهند خرید.

And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
