Colossians 2

می‌خواهم بدانید كه چقدر برای شما و ایمانداران «لائودیکیه» و برای همهٔ آنانی كه تا به حال روی مرا ندیده‌اند زحمت می‌کشم،

For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

تا آنان دلگرم شوند و در محبّت متّحد گردند و از بركاتِ سرشارِ اطمینانِ كامل كه از راه درک حقیقت به دست می‌آید، بهره‌مند شوند و از این راه به راز خدا كه خود مسیح است، پی خواهند برد.

That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

تمام گنجینه‌های حكمت و معرفت الهی، در مسیح نهفته است.

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

این را می‌گویم تا مبادا كسی شما را با دلایل مجذوب كننده گمراه سازد،

And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

زیرا اگرچه جسماً غایب هستم ولی در روح حضور دارم و از دیدن نظم و ترتیبی كه در میان شما وجود دارد و از ثبات ایمانتان به مسیح خوشحالم.

For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

پس همان طوری که روزی مسیح عیسی را به عنوان خداوند خود پذیرفتید، اكنون همیشه در اتّحاد با او زندگی كنید.

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

در او ریشه بگیرید و رشد كنید. همان‌گونه كه تعلیم یافتید در ایمان استوار باشید و در ستایش خدا برای دیگران نمونه باشید.

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

مواظب باشید مبادا كسی با دلایل پوچ و فلسفه‌ای كه متّکی به سنّتهای انسانی و عقاید بچّگانهٔ این جهان است، شما را اسیر خود سازد. این تعالیم از مسیح نیست.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

زیرا الوهیّت به طور كامل در مسیح مجسم شد

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

و شما نیز به وسیلهٔ اتّحاد با او كه بالاتر از همهٔ قدرتها و ریاستهاست، كامل شده‌اید.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

شما نیز در اتّحاد با او ختنه شده‌اید، ختنه‌ای كه به دست انسان صورت نگرفته است بلكه به وسیلهٔ ختنهٔ مسیح كه قطع طبیعت نفسانی است.

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

وقتی شما تعمید گرفتید با مسیح مدفون شدید و نیز در تعمید خود به وسیلهٔ ایمان با قدرت خدا كه مسیح را پس از مرگ زنده گردانید، با او قیام كردید.

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

خدا شما را كه به علّت خطاهای خود مُرده و در جسم خود نامختون بودید، با مسیح زنده كرد و همهٔ گناهان ما را بخشیده است.

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

او سند محکومیّت ما را همراه با تمام مقرّراتی كه علیه ما بود، لغو كرد و آن را به صلیب خود میخكوب نموده، از بین برد.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

مسیح بر روی صلیب، تمام قدرتهای آسمانی و فرمانروایان را خلع سلاح كرد و بر آنها پیروز شد و آنها را پیش همه رسوا ساخت.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

بنابراین در مورد خوراکی یا آشامیدنی یا رعایت عید یا ماه نو یا روز سبت، به هیچ وجه تحت تأثیر انتقاد دیگران قرار نگیرید.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

این چیزها فقط سایهٔ آن واقعیّتی است كه قرار است بیاید و آن واقعیّت، خود مسیح است.

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

نگذارید كسی با تظاهر به فروتنی و پرستش فرشتگان، شما را از ربودن تاج پیروزی باز دارد. زیرا چنین شخصی با اتّكاء به رؤیاهایی كه دیده است و به‌خاطر افكار دنیوی خود، بی‌جهت مغرور می‌شود.

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

این قبیل اشخاص رابطهٔ خود را با سر یعنی با مسیح قطع کرده‌اند. تحت فرمان مسیح تمام بدن نیرو می‌گیرد و به توسط مفاصل و رشته‌‌ها به هم متّصل می‌شود و همان‌طور كه خدا می‌خواهد، نمو می‌كند.

And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

وقتی شما با مسیح مُردید، با عقاید بچّگانهٔ این جهان قطع رابطه كرده‌اید. پس چرا طوری زندگی می‌کنید كه گویا هنوز به دنیا بستگی دارید؟ چرا مطیع مقرّراتی از قبیل:

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

«این را لمس نكن، به آن لب نزن و به این دست نزن» می‌شوید؟!

(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

اینها همه در اثر مصرف از بین می‌روند و این دستورات فقط قوانین و تعالیم انسان هستند!

Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

البتّه این کارها در عبادتهایی كه آنها بر خود تحمیل کرده‌اند و فروتنی و ریاضت‌كشی، ظاهراً معقول به نظر می‌رسد، ولی در واقع نمی‌توانند مانع ارضای شهوات نفسانی شوند!

Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
