II Corinthians 13

این بار سوم است كه من به ملاقات شما می‌آیم. طبق فرمایش کتاب‌مقدّس: هر اتّهامی باید به وسیلهٔ دو یا سه شاهد تأیید شود.

This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

می‌خواهم به شما كه در گذشته مرتكب گناه شده‌اید و به همهٔ اشخاص دیگر اخطار نمایم همان مطلبی را كه در خلال دومین ملاقات خود به شما گفته بودم، اكنون كه از شما دور هستم بار دیگر تكرار كنم: این بار كه پیش شما بیایم هیچ‌یک از شما نمی‌تواند از تنبیه من فرار كند.

I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

در آن‌ صورت شما دلیلی خواهید داشت كه مسیح به وسیلهٔ من سخن می‌گوید. او در مناسبات خود با شما ضعیف نیست بلکه قدرت او در میان شما دیده می‌شود.

Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

اگرچه در ضعف و ناتوانی بر روی صلیب كشته شد، اكنون با قدرت خدا زندگی می‌کند. ما نیز مثل او جسماً ضعیف هستیم، امّا در روابط خود با شما با قدرت خدا در مسیح زیست خواهیم كرد.

For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

خود را بیازمایید و خود را امتحان كنید تا بفهمید آیا ایمانی كه دارید، ایمان حقیقی است یا نه. شما باید تا این موقع دانسته باشید كه عیسی مسیح در شماست. (مگر اینکه در امتحان رد شده باشید!)

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

امیدوارم كه شما درک كرده باشید كه ما در این امتحان مردود نشده‌ایم!

But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

دعای ما در پیشگاه خدا این است كه شما از گناه دور باشید، نه برای اینکه خود را مقبول معرّفی كنیم، بلكه می‌خواهیم کارهای شما راست و درست باشد، حتّی اگر ما افراد مردود معرّفی شویم.

Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

ما نمی‌توانیم علیه حقیقت اقدامی كنیم، بلكه فقط برای پیشرفت آن می‌كوشیم.

For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

ما از اینکه خود ضعیف هستیم و شما قوی خوشحالیم. زیرا دعا می‌کنیم كه شما كامل بشوید.

For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

علّت نوشتن این چیزها در وقتی‌که هنوز از شما دور هستم این است كه وقتی به آنجا برسم، مجبور نباشم با شما با خشونت رفتار كنم؛ زیرا هر قدرت و اختیاری كه خداوند به من بخشیده است، برای بنا كردن بود، نه برای خراب كردن.

Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

در خاتمه، ای دوستان من، خداحافظ. برای رشد و تكامل خود بكوشید. به آنچه می‌گویم توجّه نمایید: با یکدیگر مدارا كنید و در صلح و صفا به سر برید و خدا كه منشاء محبّت و آرامش است، با شما خواهد بود.

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

با بوسهٔ مقدّسانه به یكدیگر سلام گویید.

Greet one another with an holy kiss.

تمام مقدّسین به شما سلام می‌رسانند. فیض عیسی مسیح خداوند، محبّت خدا و رفاقت روح‌القدس، با همهٔ شما باد، آمین.
