Joshua 9

А когато чуха това всичките царе отсам Йордан, в хълмистата земя и в низината, и по целия бряг на Голямото море към Ливан — хетейците и аморейците, ханаанците, ферезейците, евейците и евусейците —

And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof;

те се събраха заедно, за да се бият единодушно с Иисус и с Израил.

That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

А когато жителите на Гаваон чуха какво беше направил Иисус на Ерихон и на Гай,

And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

те постъпиха хитро и отидоха, и се престориха на пратеници. И взеха стари чували на магаретата си и стари мехове за вино, скъсани и вързани,

They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;

и стари и кърпени обувки на краката си, и стари дрехи на себе си; и всичкият хляб за храната им беше сух и плесенясал.

And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy.

И те отидоха при Иисус в стана при Галгал и казаха на него и на израилевите мъже: Ние дойдохме от далечна страна, затова сега направете договор с нас.

And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

А израилевите мъже казаха на евейците: Може би вие живеете сред нас; как да направим договор с вас?

And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

А те казаха на Иисус: Ние сме твои слуги. И Иисус им каза: Кои сте вие и откъде идвате?

And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?

А те му казаха: От много далечна земя дойдоха слугите ти заради Името на ГОСПОДА, твоя Бог; защото чухме слуха за Него и всичко, което е извършил в Египет,

And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

и всичко, което е извършил на двамата аморейски царе, които бяха отвъд Йордан — на есевонския цар Сион и на васанския цар Ог, който беше в Астарот.

And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.

Тогава нашите старейшини и всичките жители на нашата земя ни говориха и казаха: Вземете в ръката си храна за из път и идете да ги посрещнете, и им кажете: Ние сме ваши слуги, затова сега направете договор с нас.

Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.

Този наш хляб беше топъл, когато го взехме от къщите си за храна в деня, когато излязохме, за да дойдем при вас; а ето, сега е сух и плесенясал.

This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:

И тези мехове за вино, които напълнихме, бяха нови, а ето, сега са скъсани; и тези наши дрехи и наши обувки остаряха от много дългия път.

And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.

И мъжете взеха от храната им, но не потърсиха съвет от устата на ГОСПОДА.

And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.

И Иисус сключи мир с тях и направи договор с тях да ги остави да живеят; и първенците на обществото им се заклеха.

And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.

А след три дни, след като бяха направили договор с тях, те чуха, че им били съседи и живеели между тях.

And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.

Тогава израилевите синове тръгнаха и дойдоха до градовете им на третия ден. А градовете им бяха Гаваон и Хефира, и Вирот, и Кириат-Иарим.

And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath–jearim.

И израилевите синове не ги избиха, защото първенците на обществото им се бяха заклели в ГОСПОДА, Израилевия Бог. И цялото общество роптаеше срещу първенците.

And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.

Тогава всичките първенци казаха на цялото общество: Ние им се заклехме в ГОСПОДА, Израилевия Бог, и сега не можем да ги докоснем.

But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.

Това ще им направим, и ще ги оставим да живеят, за да не дойде гняв върху нас заради клетвата, с която им се заклехме.

This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.

И първенците им казаха: Нека да живеят. Така те станаха дървосекачи и водоносци за цялото общество, както първенците им бяха говорили.

And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.

А Иисус ги извика и им говори, и каза: Защо ни излъгахте, като казахте: Много сме далеч от вас! — когато живеете между нас?

And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

Затова сега сте прокълнати и никога няма да липсват от вас слуги — и дървосекачи, и водоносци за дома на моя Бог.

Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.

Тогава те отговориха на Иисус и казаха: Понеже слугите ти бяха сигурно известени, че ГОСПОД, твоят Бог, е заповядал на слугата Си Мойсей да ви даде цялата земя и да изтреби всичките жители на земята пред вас; затова се уплашихме много за живота си заради вас и сторихме това нещо.

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

И сега, ето, ние сме в ръката ти; направи, каквото ти се вижда добро и право да ни направиш.

And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

И той им направи така и ги избави от ръката на израилевите синове, и не ги убиха.

And so did he unto them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, that they slew them not.

И в онзи ден Иисус ги направи дървосекачи и водоносци за обществото и за олтара на ГОСПОДА на мястото, което Той би избрал, както са и до днес.

And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.
