Acts 17

И като минаха през Амфипол и Аполония, пристигнаха в Солун, където имаше юдейска синагога.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

И по обичая си Павел влезе при тях и три съботи разискваше с тях от Писанията,

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

като им поясняваше и доказваше, че Христос трябваше да пострада и да възкръсне от мъртвите и че този Иисус, каза той, когото аз ви проповядвам, е Христос.

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

И някои от тях се убедиха и се присъединиха към Павел и Сила, така и голямо множество от набожните гърци и не малко от видните жени.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Но юдеите, подбудени от завист, взеха няколко лоши мъже от мързеливците по пазара и като събраха една тълпа, размиряваха града; и нападнаха къщата на Ясон, като ги търсеха, за да ги изведат пред народа.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

Но като не ги намериха, завлякоха Ясон и някои от братята пред началниците на града и викаха: Тези, които размириха света, дойдоха и тук,

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

и Ясон ги е приел, и те всички действат против указите на императора, казвайки, че имало друг Цар – Иисус.

Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

И смутиха народа и началниците на града, които чуха това.

And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

Но когато взеха поръчителство от Ясон и от другите, ги пуснаха.

And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.

А братята незабавно през нощта изпратиха Павел и Сила в Берия; които, като стигнаха там, отидоха в юдейската синагога.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

А беряните бяха по-благородни от солунците, защото приеха словото с голяма готовност и всеки ден изследваха Писанията, за да видят дали това е вярно.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

И така, мнозина от тях повярваха, както и от високопоставените гъркини и не малко от мъжете.

Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

Но солунските юдеи, като разбраха, че Божието слово се проповядва от Павел и в Берия, дойдоха и там също подбудиха и смутиха множествата.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Тогава братята незабавно изпратиха Павел да отиде към морето, а Сила и Тимотей останаха още там.

And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

А онези, които придружаваха Павел, го заведоха до Атина и като получиха от него заповед до Сила и Тимотей да дойдат колкото се може по-скоро при него, си заминаха.

And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

А докато Павел ги чакаше в Атина, духът му се възмущаваше в него, като гледаше града пълен с идоли.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

И така, той разискваше в синагогата с юдеите и с набожните и всеки ден на пазара с онези, които се случваха там.

Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

После с него започнаха да се препират и някои от философите епикурейци и стоици. И едни казаха: Какво иска да каже този празнословец?, а други: Вижда се, че е проповедник на чужди богове, защото благовестваше за Иисус и възкресението.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

И взеха и го заведоха в Ареопага, като казваха: Можем ли да знаем какво е това ново учение, което ти проповядваш?

And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

Защото донасяш нещо странно до ушите ни. Затова искаме да знаем какво е то.

For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

А всичките атиняни и чужденци, които живееха там, не си прекарваха времето с нищо друго, освен да разказват или да слушат нещо ново.

(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

И така, Павел застана на средата на Ареопага и каза: Атиняни, по всичко виждам, че сте много набожни.

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Защото като минавах и разглеждах предметите, на които се кланяте, намерих и един жертвеник, на който беше написано: На непознатия Бог. Този, на когото се кланяте, без да Го знаете, Него ви проповядвам –

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

Бог, който е направил света и всичко, което е в него, и тъй като е Господ на небето и на земята, не обитава в ръкотворни храмове,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

нито са Му потребни служения от човешки ръце, като че ли има нужда от нещо, понеже Сам Той дава на всички и живот, и дишане, и всичко.

Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Той е направил от една кръв всички човешки нации да живеят по цялото лице на земята, като е определил предварително назначени времена и граници на заселищата им;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

за да търсят Бога, та дано биха Го напипали и намерили, макар и Той да не е далеч от всеки един от нас;

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

защото в Него живеем, движим се и съществуваме; както са казали и някои от вашите поети: ?Защото дори Негов род сме.“

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

И така, тъй като сме Божи род, не бива да мислим, че Божеството е подобно на злато или на сребро, или на камък – на нещо, изработено с изкуство и човешка измислица.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

Бог, без да държи сметка за времената на невежеството, сега заповядва на всички хора навсякъде да се покаят,

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

защото е назначил ден, когато ще съди света справедливо чрез Човека, когото е определил; за което е дал уверение на всички, като Го е възкресил от мъртвите.

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

А като чуха за възкресението на мъртвите, едни се подиграваха, а други казаха: Пак ще те слушаме за това.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

И така, Павел си отиде от тях.

So Paul departed from among them.

А някои мъже се присъединиха към него и повярваха, между които беше Дионисий Ареопагит и една жена на име Дамар, и други с тях.

Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
