Job 2

ایک دن فرشتے دوبارہ اپنے آپ کو رب کے حضور پیش کرنے آئے۔ ابلیس بھی اُن کے درمیان موجود تھا۔

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

رب نے ابلیس سے پوچھا، ”تُو کہاں سے آیا ہے؟“ ابلیس نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں دنیا میں اِدھر اُدھر گھومتا پھرتا رہا۔“

And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

رب بولا، ”کیا تُو نے میرے بندے ایوب پر توجہ دی؟ زمین پر اُس جیسا کوئی اَور نہیں۔ وہ بےالزام ہے، وہ سیدھی راہ پر چلتا، اللہ کا خوف مانتا اور ہر بُرائی سے دُور رہتا ہے۔ ابھی تک وہ اپنے بےالزام کردار پر قائم ہے حالانکہ تُو نے مجھے اُسے بلاوجہ تباہ کرنے پر اُکسایا۔“

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

ابلیس نے جواب دیا، ”کھال کا بدلہ کھال ہی ہوتا ہے! انسان اپنی جان کو بچانے کے لئے اپنا سب کچھ دے دیتا ہے۔

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

لیکن وہ کیا کرے گا اگر تُو اپنا ہاتھ ذرا بڑھا کر اُس کا جسم چھو دے؟ تب وہ تیرے منہ پر ہی تجھ پر لعنت کرے گا۔“

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

رب نے ابلیس سے کہا، ”ٹھیک ہے، وہ تیرے ہاتھ میں ہے۔ لیکن اُس کی جان کو مت چھیڑنا۔“

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

ابلیس رب کے حضور سے چلا گیا اور ایوب کو ستانے لگا۔ چاند سے لے کر تلوے تک ایوب کے پورے جسم پر بدترین قسم کے پھوڑے نکل آئے۔

So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

تب ایوب راکھ میں بیٹھ گیا اور ٹھیکرے سے اپنی جِلد کو کھرچنے لگا۔

And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

اُس کی بیوی بولی، ”کیا تُو اب تک اپنے بےالزام کردار پر قائم ہے؟ اللہ پر لعنت کر کے دم چھوڑ دے!“

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

لیکن اُس نے جواب دیا، ”تُو احمق عورت کی سی باتیں کر رہی ہے۔ اللہ کی طرف سے بھلائی تو ہم قبول کرتے ہیں، تو کیا مناسب نہیں کہ اُس کے ہاتھ سے مصیبت بھی قبول کریں؟“ اِس سارے معاملے میں ایوب نے اپنے منہ سے گناہ نہ کیا۔

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

ایوب کے تین دوست تھے۔ اُن کے نام اِلی فز تیمانی، بِلدد سوخی اور ضوفر نعماتی تھے۔ جب اُنہیں اطلاع ملی کہ ایوب پر یہ تمام آفت آ گئی ہے تو ہر ایک اپنے گھر سے روانہ ہوا۔ اُنہوں نے مل کر فیصلہ کیا کہ اکٹھے افسوس کرنے اور ایوب کو تسلی دینے جائیں گے۔

Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

جب اُنہوں نے دُور سے اپنی نظر اُٹھا کر ایوب کو دیکھا تو اُس کی اِتنی بُری حالت تھی کہ وہ پہچانا نہیں جاتا تھا۔ تب وہ زار و قطار رونے لگے۔ اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ کر اُنہوں نے اپنے سروں پر خاک ڈالی۔

And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

پھر وہ اُس کے ساتھ زمین پر بیٹھ گئے۔ سات دن اور سات رات وہ اِسی حالت میں رہے۔ اِس پورے عرصے میں اُنہوں نے ایوب سے ایک بھی بات نہ کی، کیونکہ اُنہوں نے دیکھا کہ وہ شدید درد کا شکار ہے۔

So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.
