II Chronicles 27

یوتام 25 سال کی عمر میں بادشاہ بنا اور یروشلم میں رہ کر 16 سال تک حکومت کرتا رہا۔ اُس کی ماں یروسہ بنت صدوق تھی۔

Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.

یوتام نے وہ کچھ کیا جو رب کو پسند تھا۔ وہ اپنے باپ عُزیّاہ کے نمونے پر چلتا رہا، اگرچہ اُس نے کبھی بھی باپ کی طرح رب کے گھر میں گھس جانے کی کوشش نہ کی۔ لیکن عام لوگ اپنی غلط راہوں سے نہ ہٹے۔

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.

یوتام نے رب کے گھر کا بالائی دروازہ تعمیر کیا۔ عوفل پہاڑی جس پر رب کا گھر تھا اُس کی دیوار کو اُس نے بہت جگہوں پر مضبوط بنا دیا۔

He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.

یہوداہ کے پہاڑی علاقے میں اُس نے شہر تعمیر کئے اور جنگلی علاقوں میں قلعے اور بُرج بنائے۔

Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.

جب عمونی بادشاہ کے ساتھ جنگ چھڑ گئی تو اُس نے عمونیوں کو شکست دی۔ تین سال تک اُنہیں اُسے سالانہ خراج کے طور پر تقریباً 3,400 کلو گرام چاندی، 16,00,000 کلو گرام گندم اور 13,50,000 کلو گرام جَو ادا کرنا پڑا۔

He fought also with the king of the Ammonites, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year an hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon pay unto him, both the second year, and the third.

یوں یوتام کی طاقت بڑھتی گئی۔ اور وجہ یہ تھی کہ وہ ثابت قدمی سے رب اپنے خدا کے حضور چلتا رہا۔

So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.

باقی جو کچھ یوتام کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا وہ ’شاہانِ اسرائیل و یہوداہ‘ کی کتاب میں قلم بند ہے۔ اُس میں اُس کی تمام جنگوں اور باقی کاموں کا ذکر ہے۔

Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

وہ 25 سال کی عمر میں بادشاہ بنا اور یروشلم میں رہ کر 16 سال حکومت کرتا رہا۔

He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے دفنایا گیا۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا آخز تخت نشین ہوا۔

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
