I Peter 4

Ora pois, já que Cristo padeceu por nós na carne, armai-vos também vós deste mesmo pensamento; porque aquele que padeceu na carne já cessou do pecado;

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

para que, no tempo que ainda vos resta na carne não continueis a viver para as paixões dos homens, mas para a vontade de Deus.

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Porque é bastante que no tempo passado tenhais cumprido a vontade dos gentios, andando em perversões, paixões, bebedices, glutonarias, festanças e detestáveis idolatrias.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

E eles acham estranho não correrdes com eles no mesmo desenfreamento de devassidão, falando mal de vós;

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

os quais hão de dar conta ao que está preparado para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

Pois é por isto que foi pregado o evangelho até aos mortos, para que, na verdade, fossem julgados segundo os homens na carne, mas vivessem segundo Deus em espírito.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Mas já está próximo o fim de todas as coisas; portanto sede sóbrios e vigiai em oração;

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

tendo antes de tudo ardente amor uns para com os outros, porque o amor cobre uma multidão de pecados;

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

sendo hospitaleiros uns para com os outros, sem murmuração;

Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

servindo uns aos outros conforme o dom que cada um recebeu, como bons despenseiros da multiforme graça de Deus.

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Se alguém fala, fale de acordo com os oráculos de Deus; se alguém serve, faça-o segundo a força que Deus concede; para que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo, a quem pertence a glória e o domínio para todo o sempre. Amém.

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Amados, não estranheis a ardente provação que vem sobre vós para vos experimentar, como se coisa estranha vos acontecesse;

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

mas regozijai-vos por serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo; para que também na revelação da sua glória vos regozijeis e exulteis.

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Se pelo nome de Cristo sois injuriados, bem-aventurados sois, porque o Espírito da glória e de Deus repousa sobre vós. Da parte deles, ele é blasfemado, mas de vós, glorificado.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Que nenhum de vós, entretanto, padeça como homicida, ou ladrão, ou malfeitor, ou como quem se entremete em negócios alheios;

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

mas, se padece como cristão, não se envergonhe, antes glorifique a Deus neste nome.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Porque já é tempo que comece o julgamento pela casa de Deus; e se começa por nós, qual será o fim daqueles que desobedecem ao evangelho de Deus?

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

E se o justo dificilmente se salva, onde comparecerá o ímpio pecador?

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Portanto os que sofrem segundo a vontade de Deus confiem as suas almas ao fiel Criador, praticando o bem.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
