Jeremiah 22

Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

رب نے فرمایا، ”شاہِ یہوداہ کے محل کے پاس جا کر میرا یہ کلام سنا،

And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

’اے یہوداہ کے بادشاہ، رب کا فرمان سن! اے تُو جو داؤد کے تخت پر بیٹھا ہے، اپنے ملازموں اور محل کے دروازوں میں آنے والے لوگوں سمیت میری بات پر غور کر!

Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

رب فرماتا ہے کہ انصاف اور راستی قائم رکھو۔ جسے لُوٹ لیا گیا ہے اُسے ظالم کے ہاتھ سے چھڑاؤ۔ پردیسی، یتیم اور بیوہ کو مت دبانا، نہ اُن سے زیادتی کرنا، اور اِس جگہ بےقصور لوگوں کی خوں ریزی مت کرنا۔

For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

اگر تم احتیاط سے اِس پر عمل کرو تو آئندہ بھی داؤد کی نسل کے بادشاہ اپنے افسروں اور رعایا کے ساتھ رتھوں اور گھوڑوں پر سوار ہو کر اِس محل میں داخل ہوں گے۔

But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

لیکن اگر تم میری اِن باتوں کی نہ سنو تو میرے نام کی قَسم! یہ محل ملبے کا ڈھیر بن جائے گا۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

کیونکہ رب شاہِ یہوداہ کے محل کے بارے میں فرماتا ہے کہ تُو جِلعاد جیسا خوش گوار اور لبنان کی چوٹی جیسا خوب صورت تھا۔ لیکن اب مَیں تجھے بیابان میں بدل دوں گا، تُو غیرآباد شہر کی مانند ہو جائے گا۔

And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

مَیں آدمیوں کو تجھے تباہ کرنے کے لئے مخصوص کر کے ہر ایک کو ہتھیار سے لیس کروں گا، اور وہ دیودار کے تیرے عمدہ شہتیروں کو کاٹ کر آگ میں جھونک دیں گے۔

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

تب متعدد قوموں کے افراد یہاں سے گزر کر پوچھیں گے کہ رب نے اِس جیسے بڑے شہر کے ساتھ ایسا سلوک کیوں کیا؟

Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

اُنہیں جواب دیا جائے گا، وجہ یہ ہے کہ اِنہوں نے رب اپنے خدا کا عہد ترک کر کے اجنبی معبودوں کی پوجا اور خدمت کی ہے‘۔“

Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

اِس لئے گریہ و زاری نہ کرو کہ یوسیاہ بادشاہ کوچ کر گیا ہے بلکہ اُس پر ماتم کرو جسے جلاوطن کیا گیا ہے، کیونکہ وہ کبھی واپس نہیں آئے گا، کبھی اپنا وطن دوبارہ نہیں دیکھے گا۔

For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

کیونکہ رب یوسیاہ کے بیٹے اور جانشین سلّوم یعنی یہوآخز کے بارے میں فرماتا ہے، ”یہوآخز یہاں سے چلا گیا ہے اور کبھی واپس نہیں آئے گا۔

But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

جہاں اُسے گرفتار کر کے پہنچایا گیا ہے وہیں وہ وفات پائے گا۔ وہ یہ ملک دوبارہ کبھی نہیں دیکھے گا۔

Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

یہویقیم بادشاہ پر افسوس جو ناجائز طریقے سے اپنا گھر تعمیر کر رہا ہے، جو ناانصافی سے اُس کی دوسری منزل بنا رہا ہے۔ کیونکہ وہ اپنے ہم وطنوں کو مفت میں کام کرنے پر مجبور کر رہا ہے اور اُنہیں اُن کی محنت کا معاوضہ نہیں دے رہا۔

That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

وہ کہتا ہے، ’مَیں اپنے لئے کشادہ محل بنوا لوں گا جس کی دوسری منزل پر بڑے بڑے کمرے ہوں گے۔ مَیں گھر میں بڑی کھڑکیاں بنوا کر دیواروں کو دیودار کی لکڑی سے ڈھانپ دوں گا۔ اِس کے بعد مَیں اُسے سرخ رنگ سے آراستہ کروں گا۔‘

Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

کیا دیودار کی شاندار عمارتیں بنوانے سے یہ ثابت ہوتا ہے کہ تُو بادشاہ ہے؟ ہرگز نہیں! تیرے باپ کو بھی کھانے پینے کی ہر چیز میسر تھی، لیکن اُس نے اِس کا خیال کیا کہ انصاف اور راستی قائم رہے۔ نتیجے میں اُسے برکت ملی۔

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

اُس نے توجہ دی کہ غریبوں اور ضرورت مندوں کا حق مارا نہ جائے، اِسی لئے اُسے کامیابی حاصل ہوئی۔“ رب فرماتا ہے، ”جو اِسی طرح زندگی گزارے وہی مجھے صحیح طور پر جانتا ہے۔

But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

لیکن تُو فرق ہے۔ تیری آنکھیں اور دل ناجائز نفع کمانے پر تُلے رہتے ہیں۔ نہ تُو بےقصور کو قتل کرنے سے، نہ ظلم کرنے یا جبراً کچھ لینے سے جھجکتا ہے۔“

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

چنانچہ رب یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یہویقیم بن یوسیاہ کے بارے میں فرماتا ہے، ”لوگ اُس پر ماتم نہیں کریں گے کہ ’ہائے میرے بھائی، ہاے میری بہن،‘ نہ وہ رو کر کہیں گے، ’ہائے، میرے آقا! ہائے، اُس کی شان جاتی رہی ہے۔‘

He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

اِس کے بجائے اُسے گدھے کی طرح دفنایا جائے گا۔ لوگ اُسے گھسیٹ کر باہر یروشلم کے دروازوں سے کہیں دُور پھینک دیں گے۔

Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

اے یروشلم، لبنان پر چڑھ کر زار و قطار رو! بسن کی بلندیوں پر جا کر چیخیں مار! عباریم کے پہاڑوں کی چوٹیوں پر آہ و زاری کر! کیونکہ تیرے تمام عاشق پاش پاش ہو گئے ہیں۔

I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

مَیں نے تجھے اُس وقت آگاہ کیا تھا جب تُو سکون سے زندگی گزار رہی تھی، لیکن تُو نے کہا، ’مَیں نہیں سنوں گی۔‘ تیری جوانی سے ہی تیرا یہی رویہ رہا۔ اُس وقت سے لے کر آج تک تُو نے میری نہیں سنی۔

The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

تیرے تمام گلہ بانوں کو آندھی اُڑا لے جائے گی، اور تیرے عاشق جلاوطن ہو جائیں گے۔ تب تُو اپنی بُری حرکتوں کے باعث شرمندہ ہو جائے گی، کیونکہ تیری خوب رُسوائی ہو جائے گی۔

O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

بےشک اِس وقت تُو لبنان میں رہتی ہے اور تیرا بسیرا دیودار کے درختوں میں ہے۔ لیکن جلد ہی تُو آہیں بھر بھر کر دردِ زہ میں مبتلا ہو جائے گی، تُو جنم دینے والی عورت کی طرح پیچ و تاب کھائے گی۔“

As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اے یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یہویاکین بن یہویقیم، میری حیات کی قَسم! خواہ تُو میرے دہنے ہاتھ کی مہردار انگوٹھی کیوں نہ ہوتا توبھی مَیں تجھے اُتار کر پھینک دیتا۔

And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

مَیں تجھے اُس جانی دشمن کے حوالے کروں گا جس سے تُو ڈرتا ہے یعنی بابل کے بادشاہ نبوکدنضر اور اُس کی قوم کے حوالے۔

And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

مَیں تجھے تیری ماں سمیت ایک اجنبی ملک میں پھینک دوں گا۔ جہاں تم پیدا نہیں ہوئے وہیں وفات پاؤ گے۔

But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

تم وطن میں واپس آنے کے شدید آرزومند ہو گے لیکن اُس میں کبھی نہیں لوٹو گے۔“

Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

لوگ اعتراض کرتے ہیں، ”کیا یہ آدمی یہویاکین واقعی ایسا حقیر اور ٹوٹا پھوٹا برتن ہے جو کسی کو بھی پسند نہیں آتا؟ اُسے اپنے بچوں سمیت کیوں زور سے نکال کر کسی نامعلوم ملک میں پھینک دیا جائے گا؟“

O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

اے ملک، اے ملک، اے ملک! رب کا پیغام سن!

Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”رجسٹر میں درج کرو کہ یہ آدمی بےاولاد ہے، کہ یہ عمر بھر ناکام رہے گا۔ کیونکہ اُس کے بچوں میں سے کوئی داؤد کے تخت پر بیٹھ کر یہوداہ کی حکومت کرنے میں کامیاب نہیں ہو گا۔“
