Jeremiah 23

Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُن گلہ بانوں پر افسوس جو میری چراگاہ کی بھیڑوں کو تباہ کر کے منتشر کر رہے ہیں۔“

Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

اِس لئے رب جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”اے میری قوم کو چَرانے والے گلہ بانو، مَیں تمہاری شریر حرکتوں کی مناسب سزا دوں گا، کیونکہ تم نے میری بھیڑوں کی فکر نہیں کی بلکہ اُنہیں منتشر کر کے تتر بتر کر دیا ہے۔“ رب فرماتا ہے، ”سنو، مَیں تمہاری شریر حرکتوں سے نپٹ لوں گا۔

And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.

مَیں خود اپنے ریوڑ کی بچی ہوئی بھیڑوں کو جمع کروں گا۔ جہاں بھی مَیں نے اُنہیں منتشر کر دیا تھا، اُن تمام ممالک سے مَیں اُنہیں اُن کی اپنی چراگاہ میں واپس لاؤں گا۔ وہاں وہ پھلیں پھولیں گے، اور اُن کی تعداد بڑھتی جائے گی۔

And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

مَیں ایسے گلہ بانوں کو اُن پر مقرر کروں گا جو اُن کی صحیح گلہ بانی کریں گے۔ آئندہ نہ وہ خوف کھائیں گے، نہ گھبرا جائیں گے۔ ایک بھی گم نہیں ہو جائے گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”وہ وقت آنے والا ہے کہ مَیں داؤد کے لئے ایک راست باز کونپل پھوٹنے دوں گا، ایک ایسا بادشاہ جو حکمت سے حکومت کرے گا، جو ملک میں انصاف اور راستی قائم رکھے گا۔

In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

اُس کے دورِ حکومت میں یہوداہ کو چھٹکارا ملے گا اور اسرائیل محفوظ زندگی گزارے گا۔ وہ ’رب ہماری راست بازی‘ کہلائے گا۔

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

چنانچہ وہ وقت آنے والا ہے جب لوگ قَسم کھاتے وقت نہیں کہیں گے، ’رب کی حیات کی قَسم جو اسرائیلیوں کو مصر سے نکال لایا۔‘

But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

اِس کے بجائے وہ کہیں گے، ’رب کی حیات کی قَسم جو اسرائیلیوں کو شمالی ملک اور دیگر اُن تمام ممالک سے نکال لایا جن میں اُس نے اُنہیں منتشر کر دیا تھا۔‘ اُس وقت وہ دوبارہ اپنے ہی ملک میں بسیں گے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.

جھوٹے نبیوں کو دیکھ کر میرا دل ٹوٹ گیا ہے، میری تمام ہڈیاں لرز رہی ہیں۔ مَیں نشے میں دُھت آدمی کی مانند ہوں۔ مَے سے مغلوب شخص کی طرح مَیں رب اور اُس کے مُقدّس الفاظ کے سبب سے ڈگمگا رہا ہوں۔

For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.

یہ ملک زناکاروں سے بھرا ہوا ہے، اِس لئے اُس پر اللہ کی لعنت ہے۔ زمین جُھلس گئی ہے، بیابان کی چراگاہوں کی ہریالی مُرجھا گئی ہے۔ نبی غلط راہ پر دوڑ رہے ہیں، اور جس میں وہ طاقت ور ہیں وہ ٹھیک نہیں۔

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”نبی اور امام دونوں ہی بےدین ہیں۔ مَیں نے اپنے گھر میں بھی اُن کا بُرا کام پایا ہے۔

Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

اِس لئے جہاں بھی چلیں وہ پھسل جائیں گے، وہ اندھیرے میں ٹھوکر کھا کر گر جائیں گے۔ کیونکہ مَیں مقررہ وقت پر اُن پر آفت لاؤں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

”مَیں نے دیکھا کہ سامریہ کے نبی بعل کے نام میں نبوّت کر کے میری قوم اسرائیل کو غلط راہ پر لائے۔ یہ قابلِ گھن ہے،

I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

لیکن جو کچھ مجھے یروشلم کے نبیوں میں نظر آتا ہے وہ اُتنا ہی گھنونا ہے۔ وہ زنا کرتے اور جھوٹ کے پیروکار ہیں۔ ساتھ ساتھ وہ بدکاروں کی حوصلہ افزائی بھی کرتے ہیں، اور نتیجے میں کوئی بھی اپنی بدی سے باز نہیں آتا۔ میری نظر میں وہ سب سدوم کی مانند ہیں۔ ہاں، یروشلم کے باشندے عمورہ کے برابر ہیں۔“

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.

اِس لئے رب اِن نبیوں کے بارے میں فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اُنہیں کڑوا کھانا کھلاؤں گا اور زہریلا پانی پلاؤں گا، کیونکہ یروشلم کے نبیوں نے پورے ملک میں بےدینی پھیلائی ہے۔“

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”نبیوں کی پیش گوئیوں پر دھیان مت دینا۔ وہ تمہیں فریب دے رہے ہیں۔ کیونکہ وہ رب کا کلام نہیں سناتے بلکہ محض اپنے دل میں سے اُبھرنے والی رویا پیش کرتے ہیں۔

They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

جو مجھے حقیر جانتے ہیں اُنہیں وہ بتاتے رہتے ہیں، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ حالات صحیح سلامت رہیں گے۔‘ جو اپنے دلوں کی ضد کے مطابق زندگی گزارتے ہیں، اُن سب کو وہ تسلی دے کر کہتے ہیں، ’تم پر آفت نہیں آئے گی۔‘

For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?

لیکن اُن میں سے کس نے رب کی مجلس میں شریک ہو کر وہ کچھ دیکھا اور سنا ہے جو رب بیان کر رہا ہے؟ کسی نے نہیں! کس نے توجہ دے کر اُس کا کلام سنا ہے؟ کسی نے نہیں!

Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

دیکھو، رب کی غضب ناک آندھی چلنے لگی ہے، اُس کا تیزی سے گھومتا ہوا بگولا بےدینوں کے سروں پر منڈلا رہا ہے۔

The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

اور رب کا یہ غضب اُس وقت تک ٹھنڈا نہیں ہو گا جب تک اُس کے دل کا ارادہ تکمیل تک نہ پہنچ جائے۔ آنے والے دنوں میں تمہیں اِس کی پوری سمجھ آئے گی۔

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

یہ نبی دوڑ کر اپنی باتیں سناتے رہتے ہیں اگرچہ مَیں نے اُنہیں نہیں بھیجا۔ گو مَیں اُن سے ہم کلام نہیں ہوا توبھی یہ پیش گوئیاں کرتے ہیں۔

But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

اگر یہ میری مجلس میں شریک ہوتے تو میری قوم کو میرے الفاظ سنا کر اُسے اُس کے بُرے چال چلن اور غلط حرکتوں سے ہٹانے کی کوشش کرتے۔“

Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?

رب فرماتا ہے، ”کیا مَیں صرف قریب کا خدا ہوں؟ ہرگز نہیں! مَیں دُور کا خدا بھی ہوں۔

Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

کیا کوئی میری نظر سے غائب ہو سکتا ہے؟ نہیں، ایسی جگہ ہے نہیں جہاں وہ مجھ سے چھپ سکے۔ آسمان و زمین مجھ سے معمور رہتے ہیں۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

”اِن نبیوں کی باتیں مجھ تک پہنچ گئی ہیں۔ یہ میرا نام لے کر جھوٹ بولتے ہیں کہ مَیں نے خواب دیکھا ہے، خواب دیکھا ہے!

How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

یہ نبی جھوٹی پیش گوئیاں اور اپنے دلوں کے وسوسے سنانے سے کب باز آئیں گے؟

Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

جو خواب وہ ایک دوسرے کو بتاتے ہیں اُن سے وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ میری قوم میرا نام یوں بھول جائے جس طرح اُن کے باپ دادا بعل کی پوجا کرنے سے میرا نام بھول گئے تھے۔“

The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”جس نبی نے خواب دیکھا ہو وہ بےشک اپنا خواب بیان کرے، لیکن جس پر میرا کلام نازل ہوا ہو وہ وفاداری سے میرا کلام سنائے۔ بھوسے کا گندم سے کیا واسطہ ہے؟“

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

رب فرماتا ہے، ”کیا میرا کلام آگ کی مانند نہیں؟ کیا وہ ہتھوڑے کی طرح چٹان کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے نہیں کرتا؟“

Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.

چنانچہ رب فرماتا ہے، ”اب مَیں اُن نبیوں سے نپٹ لوں گا جو ایک دوسرے کے پیغامات چُرا کر دعویٰ کرتے ہیں کہ وہ میری طرف سے ہیں۔“

Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اُن سے نپٹ لوں گا جو اپنے شخصی خیالات سنا کر دعویٰ کرتے ہیں، ’یہ رب کا فرمان ہے‘۔“

Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اُن سے نپٹ لوں گا جو جھوٹے خواب سنا کر میری قوم کو اپنی دھوکے بازی اور شیخی کی باتوں سے غلط راہ پر لاتے ہیں، حالانکہ مَیں نے اُنہیں نہ بھیجا، نہ کچھ کہنے کو کہا تھا۔ اُن لوگوں کا اِس قوم کے لئے کوئی بھی فائدہ نہیں۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD.

”اے یرمیاہ، اگر اِس قوم کے عام لوگ یا امام یا نبی تجھ سے پوچھیں، ’آج رب نے تجھ پر کلام کا کیا بوجھ نازل کیا ہے؟‘ تو جواب دے، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ تم ہی مجھ پر بوجھ ہو! لیکن مَیں تمہیں اُتار پھینکوں گا۔‘

And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.

اور اگر کوئی نبی، امام یا عام شخص دعویٰ کرے، ’رب نے مجھ پر کلام کا بوجھ نازل کیا ہے‘ تو مَیں اُسے اُس کے گھرانے سمیت سزا دوں گا۔

Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

اِس کے بجائے ایک دوسرے سے سوال کرو کہ ’رب نے کیا جواب دیا؟‘ یا ’رب نے کیا فرمایا؟‘

And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.

آئندہ رب کے پیغام کے لئے لفظ ’بوجھ‘ استعمال نہ کرو، کیونکہ جو بھی بات تم کرو وہ تمہارا اپنا بوجھ ہو گی۔ کیونکہ تم زندہ خدا کے الفاظ کو توڑ مروڑ کر بیان کرتے ہو، اُس کلام کو جو رب الافواج ہمارے خدا نے نازل کیا ہے۔

Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

چنانچہ آئندہ نبی سے صرف اِتنا ہی پوچھو کہ ’رب نے تجھے کیا جواب دیا؟‘ یا ’رب نے کیا فرمایا؟‘

But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD;

لیکن اگر تم ’رب کا بوجھ‘ کہنے پر اصرار کرو تو رب کا جواب سنو! چونکہ تم کہتے ہو کہ ’مجھ پر رب کا بوجھ نازل ہوا ہے‘ گو مَیں نے یہ منع کیا تھا،

Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:

اِس لئے مَیں تمہیں اپنی یاد سے مٹا کر یروشلم سمیت اپنے حضور سے دُور پھینک دوں گا، گو مَیں نے خود یہ شہر تمہیں اور تمہارے باپ دادا کو فراہم کیا تھا۔

And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

مَیں تمہاری ابدی رُسوائی کراؤں گا، اور تمہاری شرمندگی ہمیشہ تک یاد رہے گی۔“
