Hosea 13

When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.

پہلے جب اسرائیل نے بات کی تو لوگ کانپ اُٹھے، کیونکہ ملکِ اسرائیل میں وہ سرفراز تھا۔ لیکن پھر وہ بعل کی بُت پرستی میں ملوث ہو کر ہلاک ہوا۔

And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

اب وہ اپنے گناہوں میں بہت اضافہ کر رہے ہیں۔ وہ اپنی چاندی لے کر مہارت سے بُت ڈھال لیتے ہیں۔ پھر دست کاروں کے ہاتھ سے بنے اِن بُتوں کے بارے میں کہا جاتا ہے، ”جو بچھڑے کے بُتوں کو چومنا چاہے وہ کسی انسان کو قربان کرے!“

Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.

اِس لئے وہ صبح سویرے کی دُھند جیسے عارضی اور دھوپ میں جلد ہی ختم ہونے والی اوس کی مانند ہوں گے۔ وہ گاہتے وقت گندم سے الگ ہونے والے بھوسے کی مانند ہَوا میں اُڑ جائیں گے، گھر میں سے نکلنے والے دھوئیں کی طرح ضائع ہو جائیں گے۔

Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

”لیکن مَیں، رب تجھے مصر سے نکالتے وقت سے لے کر آج تک تیرا خدا ہوں۔ تجھے میرے سوا کسی اَور کو خدا نہیں جاننا ہے۔ میرے سوا اَور کوئی نجات دہندہ نہیں ہے۔

I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

ریگستان میں مَیں نے تیری دیکھ بھال کی، وہاں جہاں تپتی گرمی تھی۔

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.

وہاں اُنہیں اچھی خوراک ملی۔ لیکن جب وہ جی بھر کر کھا سکے اور سیر ہوئے تو مغرور ہو کر مجھے بھول گئے۔

Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:

یہ دیکھ کر مَیں اُن کے لئے شیرببر بن گیا ہوں۔ اب مَیں چیتے کی طرح راستے کے کنارے اُن کی تاک میں بیٹھوں گا۔

I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

اُس ریچھنی کی طرح جس کے بچوں کو چھین لیا گیا ہو مَیں اُن پر جھپٹا مار کر اُن کی انتڑیوں کو پھاڑ نکالوں گا۔ مَیں اُنہیں شیرببر کی طرح ہڑپ کر لوں گا، اور جنگلی جانور اُنہیں ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیں گے۔

O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.

اے اسرائیل، تُو اِس لئے تباہ ہو گیا ہے کہ تُو میرے خلاف ہے، اُس کے خلاف جو تیری مدد کر سکتا ہے۔

I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?

اب تیرا بادشاہ کہاں ہے کہ وہ تیرے تمام شہروں میں آ کر تجھے چھٹکارا دے؟ اب تیرے راہنما کدھر ہیں جن سے تُو نے کہا تھا، ’مجھے بادشاہ اور راہنما دے دے۔‘

I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.

مَیں نے غصے میں تجھے بادشاہ دے دیا اور غصے میں اُسے تجھ سے چھین بھی لیا۔

The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.

اسرائیل کا قصور لپیٹ کر گودام میں رکھا گیا ہے، اُس کے گناہ حساب کتاب کے لئے محفوظ رکھے گئے ہیں۔

The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.

دردِ زہ شروع ہو گیا ہے، لیکن وہ ناسمجھ بچہ ہے۔ وہ ماں کے پیٹ سے نکلنا نہیں چاہتا۔

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

مَیں فدیہ دے کر اُنہیں پاتال سے کیوں رِہا کروں؟ مَیں اُنہیں موت کی گرفت سے کیوں چھڑاؤں؟ اے موت، تیرے کانٹے کہاں رہے؟ اے پاتال، تیرا ڈنک کہاں رہا؟ اُسے کام میں لا، کیونکہ مَیں ترس نہیں کھاؤں گا۔

Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

خواہ وہ اپنے بھائیوں کے درمیان پھلتا پھولتا کیوں نہ ہو توبھی رب کی طرف سے مشرقی لُو اُس پر چلے گی۔ اور جب ریگستان سے آئے گی تو اسرائیل کے کنوئیں اور چشمے خشک ہو جائیں گے۔ ہر خزانہ، ہر قیمتی چیز لُوٹ کا مال بن جائے گی۔

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

سامریہ کے باشندوں کو اُن کے قصور کی سزا بھگتنی پڑے گی، کیونکہ وہ اپنے خدا سے سرکش ہو گئے ہیں۔ دشمن اُنہیں تلوار سے مار کر اُن کے بچوں کو زمین پر پٹخ دے گا اور اُن کی حاملہ عورتوں کے پیٹ چیر ڈالے گا۔“
