Ezekiel 17

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;

”اے آدم زاد، اسرائیلی قوم کو پہیلی پیش کر، تمثیل سنا دے۔

And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:

اُنہیں بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ ایک بڑا عقاب اُڑ کر ملکِ لبنان میں آیا۔ اُس کے بڑے بڑے پَر اور لمبے لمبے پنکھ تھے، اُس کے گھنے اور رنگین بال و پَر چمک رہے تھے۔ لبنان میں اُس نے ایک دیودار کے درخت کی چوٹی پکڑ لی

He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.

اور اُس کی سب سے اونچی شاخ کو توڑ کر تاجروں کے ملک میں لے گیا۔ وہاں اُس نے اُسے سوداگروں کے شہر میں لگا دیا۔

He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.

پھر عقاب اسرائیل میں آیا اور وہاں سے کچھ بیج لے کر ایک بڑے دریا کے کنارے پر زرخیز زمین میں بو دیا۔

And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

تب انگور کی بیل پھوٹ نکلی جو زیادہ اونچی نہ ہوئی بلکہ چاروں طرف پھیلتی گئی۔ شاخوں کا رُخ عقاب کی طرف رہا جبکہ اُس کی جڑیں زمین میں دھنستی گئیں۔ چنانچہ اچھی بیل بن گئی جو پھوٹتی پھوٹتی نئی شاخیں نکالتی گئی۔

There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

لیکن پھر ایک اَور بڑا عقاب آیا۔ اُس کے بھی بڑے بڑے پَر اور گھنے گھنے بال و پَر تھے۔ اب مَیں کیا دیکھتا ہوں، بیل دوسرے عقاب کی طرف رُخ کرنے لگتی ہے۔ اُس کی جڑیں اور شاخیں اُس کھیت میں نہ رہیں جس میں اُسے لگایا گیا تھا بلکہ وہ دوسرے عقاب سے پانی ملنے کی اُمید رکھ کر اُسی کی طرف پھیلنے لگی۔

It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

تعجب یہ تھا کہ اُسے اچھی زمین میں لگایا گیا تھا، جہاں اُسے کثرت کا پانی حاصل تھا۔ وہاں وہ خوب پھیل کر پھل لا سکتی تھی، وہاں وہ زبردست بیل بن سکتی تھی۔‘

Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.

اب رب قادرِ مطلق پوچھتا ہے، ’کیا بیل کی نشو و نما جاری رہے گی؟ ہرگز نہیں! کیا اُسے جڑ سے اُکھاڑ کر پھینکا نہیں جائے گا؟ ضرور! کیا اُس کا پھل چھین نہیں لیا جائے گا؟ بےشک بلکہ آخرکار اُس کی تازہ تازہ کونپلیں بھی سب کی سب مُرجھا کر ختم ہو جائیں گی۔ تب اُسے جڑ سے اُکھاڑنے کے لئے نہ زیادہ لوگوں، نہ طاقت کی ضرورت ہو گی۔

Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.

گو اُسے لگایا گیا ہے توبھی بیل کی نشو و نما جاری نہیں رہے گی۔ جوں ہی مشرقی لُو اُس پر چلے گی وہ مکمل طور پر مُرجھا جائے گی۔ جس کھیت میں اُسے لگایا گیا وہیں وہ ختم ہو جائے گی‘۔“

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

رب مجھ سے مزید ہم کلام ہوا،

Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;

”اِس سرکش قوم سے پوچھ، ’کیا تجھے اِس تمثیل کی سمجھ نہیں آئی؟‘ تب اُنہیں اِس کا مطلب سمجھا دے۔ ’بابل کے بادشاہ نے یروشلم پر حملہ کیا۔ وہ اُس کے بادشاہ اور افسروں کو گرفتار کر کے اپنے ملک میں لے گیا۔

And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:

اُس نے یہوداہ کے شاہی خاندان میں سے ایک کو چن لیا اور اُس کے ساتھ عہد باندھ کر اُسے تخت پر بٹھا دیا۔ نئے بادشاہ نے بابل سے وفادار رہنے کی قَسم کھائی۔ بابل کے بادشاہ نے یہوداہ کے راہنماؤں کو بھی جلاوطن کر دیا

That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.

تاکہ ملکِ یہوداہ اور اُس کا نیا بادشاہ کمزور رہ کر سرکش ہونے کے قابل نہ بنیں بلکہ اُس کے ساتھ عہد قائم رکھ کر خود قائم رہیں۔

But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

توبھی یہوداہ کا بادشاہ باغی ہو گیا اور اپنے قاصد مصر بھیجے تاکہ وہاں سے گھوڑے اور فوجی منگوائیں۔ کیا اُسے کامیابی حاصل ہو گی؟ کیا جس نے ایسی حرکتیں کی ہیں بچ نکلے گا؟ ہرگز نہیں! کیا جس نے عہد توڑ لیا ہے وہ بچے گا؟ ہر گز نہیں!

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ میری حیات کی قَسم، اُس شخص نے قَسم کے تحت شاہِ بابل سے عہد باندھا ہے، لیکن اب اُس نے یہ قَسم حقیر جان کر عہد کو توڑ ڈالا ہے۔ اِس لئے وہ بابل میں وفات پائے گا، اُس بادشاہ کے ملک میں جس نے اُسے تخت پر بٹھایا تھا۔

Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:

جب بابل کی فوج یروشلم کے ارد گرد پُشتے اور بُرج بنا کر اُس کا محاصرہ کرے گی تاکہ بہتوں کو مار ڈالے تو فرعون اپنی بڑی فوج اور متعدد فوجیوں کو لے کر اُس کی مدد کرنے نہیں آئے گا۔

Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.

کیونکہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ نے عہد کو توڑ کر وہ قَسم حقیر جانی ہے جس کے تحت یہ باندھا گیا۔ گو اُس نے شاہِ بابل سے ہاتھ ملا کر عہد کی تصدیق کی تھی توبھی بےوفا ہو گیا، اِس لئے وہ نہیں بچے گا۔

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ میری حیات کی قَسم، اُس نے میرے ہی عہد کو توڑ ڈالا، میری ہی قَسم کو حقیر جانا ہے۔ اِس لئے مَیں عہد توڑنے کے تمام نتائج اُس کے سر پر لاؤں گا۔

And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.

مَیں اُس پر اپنا جال ڈال دوں گا، اُسے اپنے پھندے میں پکڑ لوں گا۔ چونکہ وہ مجھ سے بےوفا ہو گیا ہے اِس لئے مَیں اُسے بابل لے جا کر اُس کی عدالت کروں گا۔

And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.

اُس کے بہترین فوجی سب مر جائیں گے، اور جتنے بچ جائیں گے وہ چاروں طرف منتشر ہو جائیں گے۔ تب تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں، رب نے یہ سب کچھ فرمایا ہے۔

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ اب مَیں خود دیودار کے درخت کی چوٹی سے نرم و نازک کونپل توڑ کر اُسے ایک بلند و بالا پہاڑ پر لگا دوں گا۔

In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.

اور جب مَیں اُسے اسرائیل کی بلندیوں پر لگا دوں گا تو اُس کی شاخیں پھوٹ نکلیں گی، اور وہ پھل لا کر شاندار درخت بنے گا۔ ہر قسم کے پرندے اُس میں بسیرا کریں گے، سب اُس کی شاخوں کے سائے میں پناہ لیں گے۔

And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

تب ملک کے تمام درخت جان لیں گے کہ مَیں رب ہوں۔ مَیں ہی اونچے درخت کو خاک میں ملا دیتا، اور مَیں ہی چھوٹے درخت کو بڑا بنا دیتا ہوں۔ مَیں ہی سایہ دار درخت کو سوکھنے دیتا اور مَیں ہی سوکھے درخت کو پھلنے پھولنے دیتا ہوں۔ یہ میرا، رب کا فرمان ہے، اور مَیں یہ کروں گا بھی‘۔“
