II Corinthians 10

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

مَیں آپ سے اپیل کرتا ہوں، مَیں پولس جس کے بارے میں کہا جاتا ہے کہ مَیں آپ کے رُوبرُو عاجز ہوتا ہوں اور صرف آپ سے دُور ہو کر دلیر ہوتا ہوں۔ مسیح کی حلیمی اور نرمی کے نام میں

But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

مَیں آپ سے منت کرتا ہوں کہ مجھے آپ کے پاس آ کر اِتنی دلیری سے اُن لوگوں سے نپٹنا نہ پڑے جو سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہمارا چال چلن دنیاوی ہے۔ کیونکہ فی الحال ایسا لگتا ہے کہ اِس کی ضرورت ہو گی۔

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

بےشک ہم انسان ہی ہیں، لیکن ہم دنیا کی طرح جنگ نہیں لڑتے۔

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

اور جو ہتھیار ہم اِس جنگ میں استعمال کرتے ہیں وہ اِس دنیا کے نہیں ہیں، بلکہ اُنہیں اللہ کی طرف سے قلعے ڈھا دینے کی قوت حاصل ہے۔ اِن سے ہم غلط خیالات کے ڈھانچے

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

اور ہر اونچی چیز ڈھا دیتے ہیں جو اللہ کے علم و عرفان کے خلاف کھڑی ہو جاتی ہے۔ اور ہم ہر خیال کو قید کر کے مسیح کے تابع کر دیتے ہیں۔

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

ہاں، آپ کے پورے طور پر تابع ہو جانے پر ہم ہر نافرمانی کی سزا دینے کے لئے تیار ہوں گے۔

Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

آپ صرف ظاہری باتوں پر غور کر رہے ہیں۔ اگر کسی کو اِس بات کا اعتماد ہو کہ وہ مسیح کا ہے تو وہ اِس کا بھی خیال کرے کہ ہم بھی اُسی کی طرح مسیح کے ہیں۔

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

کیونکہ اگر مَیں اُس اختیار پرمزید فخر بھی کروں جو خداوند نے ہمیں دیا ہے توبھی مَیں شرمندہ نہیں ہوں گا۔ غور کریں کہ اُس نے ہمیں آپ کو ڈھا دینے کا نہیں بلکہ آپ کی روحانی تعمیر کرنے کا اختیار دیا ہے۔

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

مَیں نہیں چاہتا کہ ایسا لگے جیسے مَیں آپ کو اپنے خطوں سے ڈرانے کی کوشش کر رہا ہوں۔

For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

کیونکہ بعض کہتے ہیں، ”پولس کے خط زوردار اور زبردست ہیں، لیکن جب وہ خود حاضر ہوتا ہے تو وہ کمزور اور اُس کے بولنے کا طرز حقارت آمیز ہے۔“

Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

ایسے لوگ اِس بات کا خیال کریں کہ جو باتیں ہم آپ سے دُور ہوتے ہوئے اپنے خطوں میں پیش کرتے ہیں اُن ہی باتوں پر ہم عمل کریں گے جب آپ کے پاس آئیں گے۔

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

ہم تو اپنے آپ کو اُن میں شمار نہیں کرتے جو اپنی تعریف کر کے اپنی سفارش کرتے رہتے ہیں، نہ اپنا اُن کے ساتھ موازنہ کرتے ہیں۔ وہ کتنے بےسمجھ ہیں جب وہ اپنے آپ کو معیار بنا کر اُسی پر اپنے آپ کو جانچتے ہیں اور اپنا موازنہ اپنے آپ سے کرتے ہیں۔

But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

لیکن ہم مناسب حد سے زیادہ فخر نہیں کریں گے بلکہ صرف اُس حد تک جو اللہ نے ہمارے لئے مقرر کیا ہے۔ اور آپ بھی اِس حد کے اندر آ جاتے ہیں۔

For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

اِس میں ہم مناسب حد سے زیادہ فخر نہیں کر رہے، کیونکہ ہم تو مسیح کی خوش خبری لے کر آپ تک پہنچ گئے ہیں۔ اگر ایسا نہ ہوتا تو پھر اَور بات ہوتی۔

Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

ہم ایسے کام پر فخر نہیں کرتے جو دوسروں کی محنت سے سرانجام دیا گیا ہے۔ اِس میں بھی ہم مناسب حدوں کے اندر رہتے ہیں، بلکہ ہم یہ اُمید رکھتے ہیں کہ آپ کا ایمان بڑھ جائے اور یوں ہماری قدر و قیمت بھی اللہ کی مقررہ حد تک بڑھ جائے۔ خدا کرے کہ آپ میں ہمارا یہ کام اِتنا بڑھ جائے

To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

کہ ہم اللہ کی خوش خبری آپ سے آگے جا کر بھی سنا سکیں۔ کیونکہ ہم اُس کام پر فخر نہیں کرنا چاہتے جسے دوسرے کر چکے ہیں۔

But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے، ”فخر کرنے والا خداوند ہی پر فخر کرے۔“

For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

جب لوگ اپنی تعریف کر کے اپنی سفارش کرتے ہیں تو اِس میں کیا ہے! اِس سے وہ صحیح ثابت نہیں ہوتے، بلکہ اہم بات یہ ہے کہ خداوند ہی اِس کی تصدیق کرے۔
