I Samuel 6

And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.

اللہ کا صندوق اب سات مہینے فلستیوں کے پاس رہا تھا۔

And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the LORD? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.

آخرکار اُنہوں نے اپنے تمام پجاریوں اور رمّالوں کو بُلا کر اُن سے مشورہ کیا، ”اب ہم رب کے صندوق کا کیا کریں؟ ہمیں بتائیں کہ اِسے کس طرح اِس کے اپنے ملک میں واپس بھیجیں۔“

And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.

پجاریوں اور رمّالوں نے جواب دیا، ”اگر آپ اُسے واپس بھیجیں تو ویسے مت بھیجنا بلکہ قصور کی قربانی ساتھ بھیجنا۔ تب آپ کو شفا ملے گی، اور آپ جان لیں گے کہ وہ آپ کو سزا دینے سے کیوں نہیں باز آیا۔“

Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

فلستیوں نے پوچھا، ”ہم اُسے کس قسم کی قصور کی قربانی بھیجیں؟“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”فلستیوں کے پانچ حکمران ہیں، اِس لئے سونے کے پانچ پھوڑے اور پانچ چوہے بنوائیں، کیونکہ آپ سب اِس ایک ہی وبا کی زد میں آئے ہوئے ہیں، خواہ حکمران ہوں، خواہ رعایا۔

Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.

سونے کے یہ پھوڑے اور ملک کو تباہ کرنے والے چوہے بنا کر اسرائیل کے دیوتا کا احترام کریں۔ شاید وہ یہ دیکھ کر آپ، آپ کے دیوتاؤں اور ملک کو سزا دینے سے باز آئے۔

Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?

آپ کیوں پرانے زمانے کے مصریوں اور اُن کے بادشاہ کی طرح اَڑ جائیں؟ کیونکہ اُس وقت اللہ نے مصریوں کو اِتنی سخت مصیبت میں ڈال دیا کہ آخرکار اُنہیں اسرائیلیوں کو جانے دینا پڑا۔

Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke, and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them:

اب بَیل گاڑی بنا کر اُس کے آگے دو گائیں جوتیں۔ ایسی گائیں ہوں جن کے دودھ پینے والے بچے ہوں اور جن پر اب تک جوا نہ رکھا گیا ہو۔ گائیوں کو بَیل گاڑی کے آگے جوتیں، لیکن اُن کے بچوں کو ساتھ جانے نہ دیں بلکہ اُنہیں کہیں بند رکھیں۔

And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.

پھر رب کا صندوق بَیل گاڑی پر رکھا جائے اور اُس کے ساتھ ایک تھیلا جس میں سونے کی وہ چیزیں ہوں جو آپ قصور کی قربانی کے طور پر بھیج رہے ہیں۔ اِس کے بعد گائیوں کو کھلا چھوڑ دیں۔

And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Beth–shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.

غور کریں کہ وہ کون سا راستہ اختیار کریں گی۔ اگر اسرائیل کے بیت شمس کی طرف چلیں تو پھر معلوم ہو گا کہ رب ہم پر یہ بڑی مصیبت لایا ہے۔ لیکن اگر وہ کہیں اَور چلیں تو مطلب ہو گا کہ اسرائیل کے دیوتا نے ہمیں سزا نہیں دی بلکہ سب کچھ اتفاق سے ہوا ہے۔“

And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home:

فلستیوں نے ایسا ہی کیا۔ اُنہوں نے دو گائیں نئی بَیل گاڑی میں جوت کر اُن کے چھوٹے بچوں کو کہیں بند رکھا۔

And they laid the ark of the LORD upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their emerods.

پھر اُنہوں نے عہد کا صندوق اُس تھیلے سمیت جس میں سونے کے چوہے اور پھوڑے تھے بَیل گاڑی پر رکھا۔

And the kine took the straight way to the way of Beth–shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth–shemesh.

جب گائیوں کو چھوڑ دیا گیا تو وہ ڈکراتی ڈکراتی سیدھی بیت شمس کے راستے پر آ گئیں اور نہ دائیں، نہ بائیں طرف ہٹیں۔ فلستیوں کے سردار بیت شمس کی سرحد تک اُن کے پیچھے چلے۔

And they of Beth–shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

اُس وقت بیت شمس کے باشندے نیچے وادی میں گندم کی فصل کاٹ رہے تھے۔ عہد کا صندوق دیکھ کر وہ نہایت خوش ہوئے۔

And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Beth–shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered the kine a burnt offering unto the LORD.

بَیل گاڑی ایک کھیت تک پہنچی جس کا مالک بیت شمس کا رہنے والا یشوع تھا۔ وہاں وہ ایک بڑے پتھر کے پاس رُک گئی۔ لوگوں نے بَیل گاڑی کی لکڑی ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر کے اُسے جلا دیا اور گائیوں کو ذبح کر کے رب کو بھسم ہونے والی قربانی کے طور پر پیش کیا۔

And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth–shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.

لاوی کے قبیلے کے کچھ مردوں نے رب کے صندوق کو بَیل گاڑی سے اُٹھا کر سونے کی چیزوں کے تھیلے سمیت پتھر پر رکھ دیا۔ اُس دن بیت شمس کے لوگوں نے رب کو بھسم ہونے والی اور ذبح کی قربانیاں پیش کیں۔

And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.

یہ سب کچھ دیکھنے کے بعد فلستی سردار اُسی دن عقرون واپس چلے گئے۔

And these are the golden emerods which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering unto the LORD; for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Askelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;

فلستیوں نے اپنا قصور دُور کرنے کے لئے ہر ایک شہر کے لئے سونے کا ایک پھوڑا بنا لیا تھا یعنی اشدود، غزہ، اسقلون، جات اور عقرون کے لئے ایک ایک پھوڑا۔

And the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth–shemite.

اِس کے علاوہ اُنہوں نے ہر شہر اور اُس کے گرد و نواح کی آبادیوں کے لئے سونے کا ایک ایک چوہا بنا لیا تھا۔ جس بڑے پتھر پر عہد کا صندوق رکھا گیا وہ آج تک یشوع بیت شمسی کے کھیت میں اِس بات کی گواہی دیتا ہے۔

And he smote the men of Beth–shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

لیکن رب نے بیت شمس کے باشندوں کو سزا دی، کیونکہ اُن میں سے بعض نے عہد کے صندوق میں نظر ڈالی تھی۔ اُس وقت 70 افراد ہلاک ہوئے۔ رب کی یہ سخت سزا دیکھ کر بیت شمس کے لوگ ماتم کرنے لگے۔

And the men of Beth–shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

وہ بولے، ”کون اِس مُقدّس خدا کے حضور قائم رہ سکتا ہے؟ یہ ہمارے بس کی بات نہیں، لیکن ہم رب کا صندوق کس کے پاس بھیجیں؟“

And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath–jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the LORD; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.

آخر میں اُنہوں نے قِریَت یعریم کے باشندوں کو پیغام بھیجا، ”فلستیوں نے رب کا صندوق واپس کر دیا ہے۔ اب آئیں اور اُسے اپنے پاس لے جائیں!“
