I Samuel 13

Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,

ساؤل 30 سال کا تھا جب تخت نشین ہوا۔ دو سال حکومت کرنے کے بعد

Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Beth–el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

اُس نے اپنی فوج کے لئے 3,000 اسرائیلی چن لئے۔ جنگ لڑنے کے قابل باقی آدمیوں کو اُس نے فارغ کر دیا۔ 2,000 فوجیوں کی ڈیوٹی مِکماس اور بیت ایل کے پہاڑی علاقے میں لگائی گئی جہاں ساؤل خود تھا۔ باقی 1,000 افراد یونتن کے پاس بن یمین کے شہر جِبعہ میں تھے۔

And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.

ایک دن یونتن نے جِبعہ کی فلستی چوکی پر حملہ کر کے اُسے شکست دی۔ جلد ہی یہ خبر دوسرے فلستیوں تک پہنچ گئی۔ ساؤل نے ملک کے کونے کونے میں قاصد بھیج دیئے، اور وہ نرسنگا بجاتے بجاتے لوگوں کو یونتن کی فتح سناتے گئے۔

And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.

تمام اسرائیل میں خبر پھیل گئی، ”ساؤل نے جِبعہ کی فلستی چوکی کو تباہ کر دیا ہے، اور اب اسرائیل فلستیوں کی خاص نفرت کا نشانہ بن گیا ہے۔“ ساؤل نے تمام مردوں کو فلستیوں سے لڑنے کے لئے جِلجال میں بُلایا۔

And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Beth–aven.

فلستی بھی اسرائیلیوں سے لڑنے کے لئے جمع ہوئے۔ اُن کے 30,000 رتھ، 6,000 گھڑسوار اور ساحل کی ریت جیسے بےشمار پیادہ فوجی تھے۔ اُنہوں نے بیت آون کے مشرق میں مِکماس کے قریب اپنے خیمے لگائے۔

When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

اسرائیلیوں نے دیکھا کہ ہم بڑے خطرے میں آ گئے ہیں، اور دشمن ہم پر بہت دباؤ ڈال رہا ہے تو پریشانی کے عالم میں کچھ غاروں اور دراڑوں میں اور کچھ پتھروں کے درمیان یا قبروں اور حوضوں میں چھپ گئے۔

And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.

کچھ اِتنے ڈر گئے کہ وہ دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے جد اور جِلعاد کے علاقے میں چلے گئے۔ ساؤل اب تک جِلجال میں تھا، لیکن جو آدمی اُس کے ساتھ رہے تھے وہ خوف کے مارے تھرتھرا رہے تھے۔

And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

سموایل نے ساؤل کو ہدایت دی تھی کہ سات دن میرا انتظار کریں۔ لیکن سات دن گزر گئے، اور سموایل نہ آیا۔ ساؤل کے فوجی منتشر ہونے لگے

And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.

تو ساؤل نے حکم دیا، ”بھسم ہونے والی اور سلامتی کی قربانیاں لے آؤ۔“ پھر اُس نے خود قربانیاں پیش کیں۔

And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

وہ ابھی اِس کام سے فارغ ہی ہوا تھا کہ سموایل پہنچ گیا۔ ساؤل اُسے خوش آمدید کہنے کے لئے نکلا۔

And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;

لیکن سموایل نے پوچھا، ”آپ نے کیا کِیا؟“ ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”لوگ منتشر ہو رہے تھے، اور آپ وقت پر نہ آئے۔ جب مَیں نے دیکھا کہ فلستی مِکماس کے قریب جمع ہو رہے ہیں

Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.

تو مَیں نے سوچا، ’فلستی یہاں جِلجال میں آ کر مجھ پر حملہ کرنے کو ہیں، حالانکہ مَیں نے ابھی رب سے دعا نہیں کی کہ وہ ہم پر مہربانی کرے۔‘ اِس لئے مَیں نے جرٲت کر کے خود قربانیاں پیش کیں۔“

And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.

سموایل بولا، ”یہ کیسی احمقانہ حرکت تھی! آپ نے رب اپنے خدا کا حکم نہ مانا۔ رب تو آپ اور آپ کی اولاد کو ہمیشہ کے لئے اسرائیل پر مقرر کرنا چاہتا تھا۔

But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

لیکن اب آپ کی بادشاہت قائم نہیں رہے گی۔ چونکہ آپ نے اُس کی نہ سنی اِس لئے رب نے کسی اَور کو چن کر اپنی قوم کا راہنما مقرر کیا ہے، ایک ایسے آدمی کو جو اُس کی سوچ رکھے گا۔“

And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

پھر سموایل جِلجال سے چلا گیا۔ بچے ہوئے اسرائیلی ساؤل کے پیچھے دشمن سے لڑنے گئے۔ وہ جِلجال سے روانہ ہو کر جِبعہ پہنچ گئے۔ جب ساؤل نے وہاں فوج کا جائزہ لیا تو بس 600 افراد رہ گئے تھے۔

And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.

ساؤل، یونتن اور اُن کی فوج بن یمین کے شہر جِبعہ میں ٹک گئے جبکہ فلستی مِکماس کے پاس خیمہ زن تھے۔

And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual:

کچھ دیر کے بعد فلستیوں کے تین دستے ملک کو لُوٹنے کے لئے نکلے۔ ایک سوعال کے علاقے کے شہر عُفرہ کی طرف چل پڑا،

And another company turned the way to Beth–horon: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.

دوسرا بیت حَورون کی طرف اور تیسرا اُس پہاڑی سلسلے کی طرف جہاں سے وادیِ ضبوعیم اور ریگستان دیکھا جا سکتا ہے۔

Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

اُن دنوں میں پورے ملکِ اسرائیل میں لوہار نہیں تھا، کیونکہ فلستی نہیں چاہتے تھے کہ اسرائیلی تلواریں یا نیزے بنائیں۔

But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.

اپنے ہلوں، کدالوں، کلہاڑیوں یا درانتیوں کو تیز کروانے کے لئے تمام اسرائیلیوں کو فلستیوں کے پاس جانا پڑتا تھا۔

Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.

فلستی ہلوں، کدالوں، کانٹوں اور کلہاڑیوں کو تیز کرنے کے لئے اور آنکسوں کی نوک ٹھیک کرنے کے لئے چاندی کے سِکے کی دو تہائی لیتے تھے۔

So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.

نتیجے میں اُس دن ساؤل اور یونتن کے سوا کسی بھی اسرائیلی کے پاس تلوار یا نیزہ نہیں تھا۔

And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the passage of Michmash.

فلستیوں نے مِکماس کے درے پر قبضہ کر کے وہاں چوکی قائم کی تھی۔
