I Kings 5

And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

صور کا بادشاہ حیرام ہمیشہ داؤد کا اچھا دوست رہا تھا۔ جب اُسے خبر ملی کہ داؤد کے بعد سلیمان کو مسح کر کے بادشاہ بنایا گیا ہے تو اُس نے اپنے سفیروں کو اُسے مبارک باد دینے کے لئے بھیج دیا۔

And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

تب سلیمان نے حیرام کو پیغام بھیجا،

Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

”آپ جانتے ہیں کہ میرے باپ داؤد رب اپنے خدا کے نام کے لئے گھر تعمیر کرنا چاہتے تھے۔ لیکن یہ اُن کے بس کی بات نہیں تھی، کیونکہ اُن کے جیتے جی ارد گرد کے ممالک اُن سے جنگ کرتے رہے۔ گو رب نے داؤد کو تمام دشمنوں پر فتح بخشی تھی، لیکن لڑتے لڑتے وہ رب کا گھر نہ بنا سکے۔

But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

اب حالات فرق ہیں: رب میرے خدا نے مجھے پورا سکون عطا کیا ہے۔ چاروں طرف نہ کوئی مخالف نظر آتا ہے، نہ کوئی خطرہ۔

And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

اِس لئے مَیں رب اپنے خدا کے نام کے لئے گھر تعمیر کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔ کیونکہ میرے باپ داؤد کے جیتے جی رب نے اُن سے وعدہ کیا تھا، ’تیرے جس بیٹے کو مَیں تیرے بعد تخت پر بٹھاؤں گا وہی میرے نام کے لئے گھر بنائے گا۔‘

Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

اب گزارش ہے کہ آپ کے لکڑہارے لبنان میں میرے لئے دیودار کے درخت کاٹ دیں۔ میرے لوگ اُن کے ساتھ مل کر کام کریں گے۔ آپ کے لوگوں کی مزدوری مَیں ہی ادا کروں گا۔ جو کچھ بھی آپ کہیں گے مَیں اُنہیں دوں گا۔ آپ تو خوب جانتے ہیں کہ ہمارے ہاں صیدا کے لکڑہاروں جیسے ماہر نہیں ہیں۔“

And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.

جب حیرام کو سلیمان کا پیغام ملا تو وہ بہت خوش ہو کر بول اُٹھا، ”آج رب کی حمد ہو جس نے داؤد کو اِس بڑی قوم پر حکومت کرنے کے لئے اِتنا دانش مند بیٹا عطا کیا ہے!“

And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

سلیمان کو حیرام نے جواب بھیجا، ”مجھے آپ کا پیغام مل گیا ہے، اور مَیں آپ کی ضرور مدد کروں گا۔ دیودار اور جونیپر کی جتنی لکڑی آپ کو چاہئے وہ مَیں آپ کے پاس پہنچا دوں گا۔

My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

میرے لوگ درختوں کے تنے لبنان کے پہاڑی علاقے سے نیچے ساحل تک لائیں گے جہاں ہم اُن کے بیڑے باندھ کر سمندر پر اُس جگہ پہنچا دیں گے جو آپ مقرر کریں گے۔ وہاں ہم تنوں کے رسّے کھول دیں گے، اور آپ اُنہیں لے جا سکیں گے۔ معاوضے میں آپ مجھے اِتنی خوراک مہیا کریں کہ میرے دربار کی ضروریات پوری ہو جائیں۔“

So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.

چنانچہ حیرام نے سلیمان کو دیودار اور جونیپر کی اُتنی لکڑی مہیا کی جتنی اُسے ضرورت تھی۔

And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

معاوضے میں سلیمان اُسے سالانہ تقریباً 32,50,000 کلو گرام گندم اور تقریباً 4,40,000 لٹر زیتون کا تیل بھیجتا رہا۔

And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

اِس کے علاوہ سلیمان اور حیرام نے آپس میں صلح کا معاہدہ کیا۔ یوں رب نے سلیمان کو حکمت عطا کی جس طرح اُس نے اُس سے وعدہ کیا تھا۔

And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

سلیمان بادشاہ نے لبنان میں یہ کام کرنے کے لئے اسرائیل میں سے 30,000 آدمیوں کی بیگار پر بھرتی کی۔ اُس نے ادونیرام کو اُن پر مقرر کیا۔ ہر ماہ وہ باری باری 10,000 افراد کو لبنان میں بھیجتا رہا۔ یوں ہر مزدور ایک ماہ لبنان میں اور دو ماہ گھر میں رہتا۔

And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.

سلیمان بادشاہ نے لبنان میں یہ کام کرنے کے لئے اسرائیل میں سے 30,000 آدمیوں کی بیگار پر بھرتی کی۔ اُس نے ادونیرام کو اُن پر مقرر کیا۔ ہر ماہ وہ باری باری 10,000 افراد کو لبنان میں بھیجتا رہا۔ یوں ہر مزدور ایک ماہ لبنان میں اور دو ماہ گھر میں رہتا۔

And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;

سلیمان نے 80,000 آدمیوں کو کانوں میں لگایا تاکہ وہ پتھر نکالیں۔ 70,000 افراد یہ پتھر یروشلم لاتے تھے۔

Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

اُن لوگوں پر 3,300 نگران مقرر تھے۔

And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

بادشاہ کے حکم پر وہ کانوں سے بہترین پتھر کے بڑے بڑے ٹکڑے نکال لائے اور اُنہیں تراش کر رب کے گھر کی بنیاد کے لئے تیار کیا۔

And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.

جبل کے کاری گروں نے سلیمان اور حیرام کے کاری گروں کی مدد کی۔ اُنہوں نے مل کر پتھر کے بڑے بڑے ٹکڑے اور لکڑی کو تراش کر رب کے گھر کی تعمیر کے لئے تیار کیا۔
