I Chronicles 20

And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.

بہار کا موسم آ گیا، وہ وقت جب بادشاہ جنگ کے لئے نکلتے ہیں۔ تب یوآب نے فوج لے کر عمونیوں کا ملک تباہ کر دیا۔ لڑتے لڑتے وہ ربّہ تک پہنچ گیا اور اُس کا محاصرہ کرنے لگا۔ لیکن داؤد خود یروشلم میں رہا۔ پھر یوآب نے ربّہ کو بھی شکست دے کر خاک میں ملا دیا۔

And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.

داؤد نے حنون بادشاہ کا تاج اُس کے سر سے اُتار کر اپنے سر پر رکھ لیا۔ سونے کے اِس تاج کا وزن 34 کلو گرام تھا، اور اُس میں ایک بیش قیمت جوہر جڑا ہوا تھا۔ داؤد نے شہر سے بہت سا لُوٹا ہوا مال لے کر

And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

اُس کے باشندوں کو غلام بنا لیا۔ اُنہیں پتھر کاٹنے کی آریاں، لوہے کی کدالیں اور کلہاڑیاں دی گئیں تاکہ وہ مزدوری کریں۔ یہی سلوک باقی عمونی شہروں کے باشندوں کے ساتھ بھی کیا گیا۔ جنگ کے اختتام پر داؤد پوری فوج کے ساتھ یروشلم لوٹ آیا۔

And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.

اِس کے بعد اسرائیلیوں کو جزر کے قریب فلستیوں سے لڑنا پڑا۔ وہاں سِبکی حوساتی نے رفا دیو کی اولاد میں سے ایک آدمی کو مار ڈالا جس کا نام سفی تھا۔ یوں فلستیوں کو تابع کر لیا گیا۔

And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.

اُن سے ایک اَور لڑائی کے دوران اِلحنان بن یائیر نے جاتی جالوت کے بھائی لحمی کو موت کے گھاٹ اُتار دیا۔ اُس کا نیزہ کھڈی کے شہتیر جیسا بڑا تھا۔

And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant.

ایک اَور دفعہ جات کے پاس لڑائی ہوئی۔ فلستیوں کا ایک فوجی جو رفا کی نسل کا تھا بہت لمبا تھا۔ اُس کے ہاتھوں اور پیروں کی چھ چھ اُنگلیاں یعنی مل کر 24 اُنگلیاں تھیں۔

But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother slew him.

جب وہ اسرائیلیوں کا مذاق اُڑانے لگا تو داؤد کے بھائی سِمعا کے بیٹے یونتن نے اُسے مار ڈالا۔

These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

جات کے یہ دیو رفا کی اولاد تھے، اور وہ داؤد اور اُس کے فوجیوں کے ہاتھوں ہلاک ہوئے۔
